Myrtle Beach is a coastal city on the east coast of the United States in Horry County, South Carolina. It is situated on the center of a large and continuous stretch of beach known as the Grand Strand in northeastern South Carolina.
Myrtle Beach is one of the major centers of tourism in the United States because of the city's warm subtropical climate and extensive beaches, attracting an estimated 14 million visitors each year.[3] As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 27,109 with the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area population at 465,391 according to a 2013 estimate.
Tourism
Hosting over 14 million visitors annually, The Grand Strand is home to an array of tourist attractions, and the area receives a large influx of visitors during all seasons. Nearly 100,000 visitors a year are estimated to come from overseas, with tourists from Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom.[5]
Myrtle Beach hosts a variety of special conventions, events, and musical concerts. The area's attractions include its beaches and many golf courses, as well as a number of amusement parks, an aquarium, Legends In Concert, retail developments, a number of shopping complexes and over 1,900 restaurants[6] including seafood restaurants. The area also has dinner theaters, nightclubs, and many tourist shops. Myrtle Beach has an estimated 460 hotels, with many on the beachfront, and approximately 89,000 accommodation units in total. Also in the city isMyrtle Waves, one of the largest water parks on the eastern seaboard.
The Carolina Opry is another highly acclaimed attraction, which features various musical, comedy, dance, and entertainment shows, including The Carolina Opry (variety show), Good Vibrations (best of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s), LIGHT-a Laser Extravaganza. During the holiday season, the venue hosts The Carolina Opry Christmas Special. It is currently housed in a 2,200 seat theater.
The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk opened in 2010 and has been recognized as the nation's #3 boardwalk by National Geographic[7] and one of the best US boardwalks by Travel + Leisure magazine.[8] The Myrtle Beach Skywheel opened at the boardwalk in May, 2011, and is a 200-foot (61 m) observation wheel, similar to a ferris wheel, with glass gondolas that look over the Atlantic Ocean. This is the first wheel of its kind in the U.S. Myrtle Beach State Park, established in 1935, has just under a mile of Grand Strand beach and is a prime location for camping, swimming, hiking, biking, and fishing.
The Myrtle Beach Convention Center is a large facility that hosts a variety of meetings, conferences, exhibits, and special events every year. The expansive center, which opened in 2003, also features aSheraton hotel and resort.
Myrtle Beach welcomed Hard Rock Park in 2008, which was themed after the popular Hard Rock Cafe chain. After financial issues, the park became Freestyle Music Park for the 2009 season. The park features attractions themed after various genres and eras of music, such as theBritish Invasion. The park did not open for the 2010 season, and continues to be closed due to having been engulfed in legal issues. As of 2014, the park has been closed and is being dismantled.
Each March since 1951 during Ontario's spring break, Myrtle Beach has hosted Canadian-American Days, also known as Can-Am Days. Tens of thousands of tourists flock to the area for a week's worth of special events.[9] Myrtle Beach is also home to Coastal Uncorked, a food and wine festival held in the late spring annually. In June, recently graduated high school seniors come to Myrtle Beach for Senior Week.[10]
With numerous professional fireworks displays along the oceanfront, Myrtle Beach is recognized among the top destinations for Fourth of July travel. Priceline.com ranked Myrtle Beach among its top 20 destinations for Fourth of July in 2010.[11]
The majority of visitors make their way to the region during the high season (June-August) looking to make the most of its fine weather.
The city is located between Wilmington, North Carolina and Charleston, South Carolina with U.S. Route 17 serving as the main transport link for those journeying from the north and south.[5]

Thanks Friend..!!
.
I love Myrtle beach! Gosh I wish I live in South Carolina. I live in boring Kentucky nothing to do, South Carolinas are so lucky! I miss it
I want to personally THANK YOU for loading this video and taking the time and effort to do so! I grew up going to Myrtle Beach for our family summer vacations for decades. I haven't been back to visit for Lord knows how long - at least 20 years. It has changed SO much with all the high rise hotels and condominiums, yet some of the old time favorite hotels/motels remain right where they were as I remember them! Very fond memories - and thanks so much again! ❤
tranquility, elegance city
i cant wait to see all this again when im there in a few days! i love this beach with all my heart! my dad and mom take me there with a friend of my choice every year! i missed the palm trees and the smell of salt water and cloreine from the pools. i needed to see it again
Wow. It actually reminds me of Panama City beach Florida
Heading back in a few days!....can't wait!!!
Why didnt you take me? Im going next week, wanna go back?
I love Garden City! To drive down the Boundary Ave by Golf car... amazing! I'll never forget this.
I sometimes stay along the Brunswick County, NC coast. I love to drive down the entire Grand Strand while I'm there.
At 14:28 is the El Dorado, which is where I stayed on my very first beach trip almost 20 years ago.
I think it's the best driving downtown tour on Myrtle Beach, and i hope get to go soon again for my second trip....yyaahhoo...
I like the tall buildings

This must be at least a few years old. You pass the old Cabana Inn (rip). Lots of good memories...
Yay you drove by the hotel I stayed at last year. Camelot by the Beach.
Sorry u stayed at camelot what a dump. Stayed there last year horrible exp. will never go back there. We checked out two days early and went across the street to the Towers Motel (you can see it in the video) right after camelot. It seemed to be a small family run motel but the owners were great room was good for the price and the pool was the best part right on the boulevard.
O this is a pretty late comment but I kinda liked Camelot. It was pretty expensive tho, $500 dollars just for one night.

No place like Myrtle Beach SC. 60 miles of the Grand Strand. Deep sea fishing, over 1500 restaurants, Biker bars, Live stage theaters, water parks, rides, more golf courses than any place in the world, the best seafood you will find anywhere, bar none. Nothing but fun. And don't forget, THE OCEAN. There are so many places to shop not only at the beach but the main roads coming into the beach. Also a great place to live. Taxes are very low and utilities are also low. North Carolina has the mountains but that is it. Other than that, NC is boring. Oh, don't forget all the girls at Myrtle Beach. It is home to the oldest Harley-Davidson bike rally in the country. Myrtle Beach Spring Rally, and the fall rally.
Going there In august Soo excited
While there I noticed these things: 1 - grocery/convenience stores on the strip were way overpriced. 2 - Drivers seemed to have no idea what a crosswalk meant. 3 - It's nearly impossible to find a recycling bin anywhere. 4 - Putt putt seems to count as a tourist attraction (asked the local Uber driver what are some top things to do, and that was his #1 suggestion). 5 - Plantation tours seem to be an attraction, as though anyone would actually want to celebrate slavery. 6 - it's a trashy version of Florida. 7 - Water and beaches are beautiful. 8 - Locals are very friendly people. 9 - Be patient, everyone working moves at a snail's pace (it is the south), it's almost painfully slow. 10 - Limited flight options. 11 - rental cars are dirt cheap. 12 - plenty of free parking
As a black person in south carolina, whose family has been here so long that my ancestors likely worked on these plantations, I actually enjoy plantation tours. Keeping these plantations alive and taken care of isn't a celebration of slavery, and (almost) nobody in the state, even the patrons of these places, see it as such. They are beautiful displays of architecture from that period, and a reminder of the past, not a celebration of it. Some plantations still have standing slave houses on property for you to look at and walk inside of as well to show how terrible conditions were for slaves and also show some of the tools and devices used to harvest and complete other daily tasks during that time period. Keep in mind these are some of the oldest cities in the country, so they are also conserved to show what early america was like. There are also places in the upstate where you can see what it was like for poorer sharecroppers who had little to no slaves, much smaller houses with less extraveagent architecture(however I still appreciate it), and worked the land themselves. The goal of keeping these places alive isn't to say "hey look at how awesome slavery was" it's moreso saying "this is what life was like earlier on in america", the same way england, for example, looks after their old buildings, even though the lifestyles of the people who inhabited them and worked in them they were possibly funded by slavery given how much they taxed early americans(who were slave owners). You can't just erase history regardless of how bad it was, which is why it's important to be able to look back on history so we don't repeat it.
Wow Myrtle beach is beautiful!! doesn't even look like South Carolina!1
no wonder,it's n Carolina

It’s beautiful but not the Myrtle Beach of my childhood. Miss those Mom and Pop motels and those simpler times.
Sail Inn and Driftwood Inn, both long gone, sadly :( MYRTLE BEACH, SEE YOU IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS!!!!!
awesome city
need to visit!
MaryLynn that's probably cuz the time of year the video was shot. If u come to Panama City beach
Florida in September it will look like this lol
Some music eg "Driver's Seat" would have helped, but still, very nice!
Why are there no traffic lights?! Also, how many high-rise hotels are there near Myrtle Beach ? I didn't expect South Carolina to be so exotic. ;)
Dmitriy Kalik Not sure about the traffic lights. I believe the majority are along this blvd. Fun beach town with lots of popular attractions and events!
How does Myrtle Beach compare to beaches in Saudi Arabia?
Hi I attended a conference at Myrtle Beach Hilton in October. How far was that from here? Unfortunately I didn't have time to go anywhere else because I didn't have a car and spent most of the time at the conference (it ran from Thursday until Saturday, I arrived Wednesday and left Sunday).
Great video, I love myrtle beach but don't get there nearly as much as I'd like but this video is a good reminder.
This video covers a small part of Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. If you have never been here, bring lots of money cause you will never run out of different things to do.
L.like.l.love.thanks
Oops, there are traffic lights; but the long gaps between them are quite alarming. We don't usually drive without traffic lights up here in the Tri-State area.
Dmitriy Kalik Drive safely :)
