When my parents and myself were watching the episode where Noelle left, and my dad said that he thinks Gabler had a shot at winning, I initially didn't believe him, but looking back at his history and especially when I saw the finale episode, I was proven wrong. Gabler was more dangerous than people believed he was, which makes him a pretty good winner in my opinion.

Planted the idea into Jesse's head that he needed to vote out Cody to win this game, when in reality keeping Cody was in Jesse's best interest since Cody was willing to take him to the final 3. Subtle gameplay from Gabler's part that proves that he really was the silent assassin he claimed to be. Absolutely deserving winner that played an amazing social game, subtly influencing the power players in this game to eat each other alive, while keeping his name off the chopping block, allowing him to come out on top in the end.
I wonder if Parvati does that same move to Amanda somehow taking her idol and then blindsiding her instead of Alexis. Does Parvati win? I think the fans would steamroll from there. Natalie was ruthless.
here's the thing, the cody blindside could've worked for Jessie, but Gabler should've been the target at final 5 due to being such a firemaking threat (i heard he downplayed his fire threat level tho) cause after Cody's vote out all Jessie needed to do was win an immunity or win firemaking
@@anthony-le5uo Gabler definitely downplayed his fire level according to post-show interviews (apparently Cassidy had to "audition" him twice for fire before choosing him to send against Jesse). But while the Jesse move to blindside Cody was great television and very inventive, it was also very short-sighted because he had no real way to get to F3. Even if he takes Gabler out at F5, Owen still beats him at fire at F4. Jesse could've beaten anyone except maybe Cody, but he needed to be sitting with Owen and Karla to get the most win equity. Cassidy was too much of a threat for immunity, whereas Karla (despite winning two immunities herself) was injured and the final challenges usually involve dexterity, which her hand might not have been able to overcome. And even if Jesse goes to fire against Karla, he might have the upper hand there because it's dexterity-based as well. Jesse played a masterful game but when he made that big move, he had no safety net and it cost him. If he was going to blindside Cody at 6, Cassidy needed to go at 5 and at least then, he's got Karla as a shield at 4 so that Gabler/Owen are forced to pick one big threat to go to the end. The true move might have been not to blindside Cody at all. Take Cody to F4 (as Cody intended to do with Jesse) and if he doesn't win immunity, he goes to fire against Gabler, Gabler probably beats Cody at fire, and then Jesse wins the game.

Dang his edit makes more sense when you see it like this. He really was hiding in plain sight. I don’t know if Cassidy or Gabler was the better choice (I lean him now), but did always respect his game a lot. I just never thought the jury was going to appreciate it too.
Just like in the game, he hid in plain sight in the edit. Always had very intentional and aware confessionals about him being well-positioned and how he was going to get to the end. Being in the ride or die alliance while also letting Karla and the others know about Cody and Jesse’s power was underrated because it pitted everyone against the other with Gabler in the middle, and it didn’t come back to haunt him. He really did play a great game.
Best frigging confessional line EVER 2 me was: "when I threw out Ellie's name... I meant to throw out Ellie's name." 😂😂. It was funny at first hear and honest. Glad Gabler won. AlliGabler is perfect alter ego. Besides Cody, Carla and Jesse, AlliGabler is the perfect winner of this season.

In the end, it all came down to the social game. You could tell the Alligabler really made connections with every individual person, and never really burned any bridges. The only juror he could’ve possibly burned was Jeanine (because of the Elie shenanigans), and she still gave him her vote. I get he had to duck back under the water post merge, but I wish we got to see more of his social nuances
I love the funny older characters that this show casts, and I always pay attention to their edit in case they ever had another winner (very low odds). Gabler was a huge comic relief character but they always showed that he knew what was going on from how many connections he had. Almost everyone wanted to work with him all the time and he also had a bigger strategic resume than anyone else in F3.
Overall I think on paper Cassidy played a better game but she lost final tribal when she tried to take credit for a move ride or die did. She lost any momentum she had there

The key in survivor is Information. Aligabler just know everyone's target because they trust him well. he just use the meat shield perfectly. That's why you should get rid of the biggest threat in the final 6 or 5

People say Mike Gabler didn't deserve to win, but his game was actually pretty similar to the winner of season 14, yet nobody questions that winner's game. The biggest difference between the two is that the other 2 in the finals are better in 43 than in 14.
If you had told me after the premiere, or the merge, or the final five, or the final four fire making, or after the final tribal before votes were read that Gabler would win survivor I would say you were a liar.

What I learned from the outcome of this season is that many survivor fans are just dumb. He didn't deserve it. He said that himself in the confessinals before ftc
he had a brilliant social game, and flipped at the right moments. he got out Elie which lead to him being integrated in the rest of the group. The King of low tier winners! Anyone could’ve beat him. But he made it to the end and got lucky. So good for him! The edit he got was completely justified, mediocre and obviously not the star of the season. I find it funny that season 43 had an all goat final 3, and one of those goats and fire-making looser deserved to win more than Gabler through what the EDIT showed. And if Cassidy won, it also would have been predictable. But he did win and I give him credit for that. Is he a fun and interesting/satisfying winner? Absolutely not. But before anyone acts like they need to come to Gablers rescue. The way this season turned out is what makes it so interesting. If Jessie had won, it would of made for an more boring finish instead of an absolutely crazy one. So thanks Gabler.

Gabler’s edit was horrible. There is no way I could have rooted for him with that edit. I couldn’t believe he won, it was astonishing to me. And though I respect him immensely for donating the prize money, but if he didn’t need it, why the hell was he there? Let someone who actually needs the money go home with the million.

I won't lie. Even knowing all I know about the final 2 (let's just assume Owen isn't there), while the edit did them both dirty, I would come to the FTC wanting to vote for Cassidy. Would Gabler's superior FTC performance be enough for me to change my mind? I still need to think about it, but the final 2 played very similar games, Gabler more social, Cass a little more strategic. They are both good winners, neither as solid as Erika or Maryanne. Of the 43 winners, I give Gabler the 18th place, above J.T. and below Sandra's first win. Because I like her more, though, I put Cassidy slightly above Sandra and maybe even above the next place, Chris Daugherty, but that's as far as she goes without really pulling great moves. Jesse, on the other hand, would have the second best first season win of all time, after Natalie Anderson (and Tony's WaW win, Parvati's and Sarah's, all returnees)
Gabler was a lot more methodical and intentional than people want to give him credit for.

The edit he got was completely justified, mediocre and obviously not the star of the season.
I find it funny that season 43 had an all goat final 3, and one of those goats and fire-making looser deserved to win more than Gabler through what the EDIT showed.
And if Cassidy won, it also would have been predictable.
But he did win and I give him credit for that.
Is he a fun and interesting/satisfying winner?
Absolutely not.
But before anyone acts like they need to come to Gablers rescue.
The way this season turned out is what makes it so interesting. If Jessie had won, it would of made for an more boring finish instead of an absolutely crazy one.

@@brookendale3611 there's so much we don't see during the season due to editing, time scheduling etc. ultimately like Karla said the jury had questions and Gabler checked off most of the boxes. A true humble winner he was one of my 5 picks to win.

Gabler’s edit was horrible. There is no way I could have rooted for him with that edit. I couldn’t believe he won, it was astonishing to me. And though I respect him immensely for donating the prize money, but if he didn’t need it, why the hell was he there? Let someone who actually needs the money go home with the million.

I won't lie. Even knowing all I know about the final 2 (let's just assume Owen isn't there), while the edit did them both dirty, I would come to the FTC wanting to vote for Cassidy. Would Gabler's superior FTC performance be enough for me to change my mind? I still need to think about it, but the final 2 played very similar games, Gabler more social, Cass a little more strategic. They are both good winners, neither as solid as Erika or Maryanne. Of the 43 winners, I give Gabler the 18th place, above J.T. and below Sandra's first win. Because I like her more, though, I put Cassidy slightly above Sandra and maybe even above the next place, Chris Daugherty, but that's as far as she goes without really pulling great moves. Jesse, on the other hand, would have the second best first season win of all time, after Natalie Anderson (and Tony's WaW win, Parvati's and Sarah's, all returnees)
