Too bad I didn't send you teeth, that would've paired so nicely with this book 🤣🦷
See but I feel like our Bunny community is so unique and awesome that you could send any of us teeth and we'd be like huh okay 😂
Reading the end of Maeve Fly had me acting like that Jennifer Lawrence gif... "What do you mean?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!" 😂 🪰
Kate represents Maeves sanity. That's why you're (and Maeve is) trying to hold on to her so hard.
Bro 😭 the ending. Tell me why I’m about to cry in target rn 😭 listening to the end of this audiobook
IMMEDIATELY came to finish this video because I CAN NOT HANDLE THIS ON MY OWN 😂😂😂
The whole time I was like WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭
This is probably my most loved horror book of 2023. I gave this 6 stars. I’m wondering what you would think of Sister, Maiden, Monster (horror) and Death of a Bookseller (thriller). These books are also in my top five books of the year. I gave both of these books 5 stars and they are in my top 5 of the year.
Im so happy to hear you love this book! I just read a new release called "Kill for Love." It reminded me a lot of Maeve Fly but if Chanel Oberlin from Scream Queens was channeling Patrick Bateman.
🦷
I loved Maeve Fly. It’s one of the best books I’ve read this year and the pickings are so slim at this point, but Maeve Fly was absolutely iconic and one of my favorite extreme novels I’ve read this year.
Exactly! Thank you Sarah! The pickings really slim
I loved the premise of this book sm but wow it was just a flat edgelord flop for me in the end. Had some cool bits and pieces and a decent writing style but overall thought it was mostly garbage lol reminded me too much of boy parts by eliza clarke which i hated that book too but boy parts was worse than maeve fly lol. The corny romance and unnecessary fifty shades-esque sex scenes dragged this down, along with its preposterous conclusion. Overall tried to hard to be edgy and american psycho-y and it just became a bad mashup of AP and fifty shades in the end. Truly a combo i never needed. Regret buying this hardcover at full price lol
100% agree!
@@hellotheredara glad its not just me cuz ik a lot of people raved about this book lol. I love the concept of an american psycho-esque narrative with a female protag on paper, but so far things like boy parts and maeve fly borrow too much from AP to stand on their own two legs. Overall im sick of the trend of books relying heavily on plots from classic movies. And im sick of books like this relying so much on cheap shock value. The violent scenes in this book just did not fit it almost felt like two books in one, a dark erotic hockey romance and an extremely tame and blandly written extreme horror novel with american psycho undertones. And im an avid extreme horror reader so not like i was offended it just felt so shoehorned in and took me out of the story. In other words yeah the more i think about it the more of a mess i realize i think this book is lmao
Thanks,and I hated Bunny too.
Omg… I need Maeve fly…. Now
@@sharylgrangaard8484 i loved the first half of bunny but the second half lost me and the book was way too long, but i still really enjoyed reading it. It was unlike anything ive ever read before. The unreality of the writing was so dense it made it a little hard to get through. Personally, i think the second half of “death in her hands” by ottessa moshfegh did what bunny tried to do in a more successful and enjoyable way. I admire bunny as my first foray into what i would classify as a more experimental book, but i dont think id ever read it again or recommend it to most people lol
liiivvviinggg for this video 😍 god can you imagine how long our phone calls wouldve been if we buddy read this. missed opp tbh
Totally missed opportunity. That and so many others I’m sure. Never again!

🦷 I am a horror fan but I typically opt for cosmic rather than gory character study, and this was a nice change of pace for me.
I totally get the A24 vibes from Maeve (and now want Mia Goth to play her in an A24 film adaptation 😂)
Ever since I read this book I've been looking for readalikes. I found Kill for Love but I want mooooooore, let's go publishers.
Is this a book written by a woman for a female audience (in the same way 50 Shades of Grey was,or in the same way that boy bands target that audience)?
Are there any references to child abuse in it? (I heard a victim of abuse cursing that book, but that person may not have been in a good state of mind at the time) of reading it.
I havent read any of these kind of books that sound like the author just googled taboo words (all 50 maybe)and just built a story around them.
The human mind can get aroused by a cup of water or by a brick wall (but meave gets aroused by s... and dead bodies instead?
I just finished it. And it was amazing. Absolutely.
The only thing that I didn't like was that it was just so short. But apart from that... it was everything.
It was interesting, it was funny, it was cute... at times... but then again it was also this crazy, deranged, evil, psycho, completely off the rails trip of a book and it felt like a descent into madness in the best f*ing way possible. It was like a trip to hell, but like... an entertaining one, idk...
And this girl was so completely unhinged and yet such a poor lonely soul... I felt both disgusted and sorry for her. Like, she definitely needs to be thrown in jail, but I would absolutely visit her every week and bring her some soup and a warm blanket😂
Thank you Katie for recommending it because I never would've gotten to this by my own ❤
Just picked this book up from the library this book cover did it for me I also love American Psycho .
🦷🦷🦷 I loved watching your reactions! 😂 this was definitely not for me DNF at 65% but it made it even better for me to finally get the spoilers 🤣
Disneyland* I know it doesn’t seem to make a difference, but it does lol, it’s a love letter to LA, Disneyland and Halloween time there.
🦷 Thank you for giving spoilers because I was having a battle with myself. You were convincing me that I needed to read this, but I know I can’t do extreme horror 😂
Just finished Maeve Fly and I am freakin obsessed!
Kind of reminds me of the Korean show: Somebody (2022)
🦷🦷🦷
I have theories about the next book. Probably none that will come to fruition but theories, nonetheless 🤔 what a wild ride
all I knew about this book was that it's weird and it's gory... and I definitely thought she was gonna turn into a fly at some point. 😂 but it was SO GOOD. I wasn't expecting the writing to be that good. I can't wait for what else this author does because this was amazing and a debut....
also 🦷
🪰- literally bought this book just now from your reaction. See you on the other side!
🪰 say less! Literally going to start reading it tomorrow first thing!!
Katie, I am interested in this book but bcs its extreme horror idk if I could take it. But I did read Tender is the flesh and love it do u think I could take this one based on tender is the flesh?
Its the self-fulfilling prophecy of it all, it's a great book
Book must be in my hands. Soon. SOON!
🦷 I’m sending my mom this book for her birthday lmao
🦷 I wish i loved this book as much as you did. Love your videos 🩷
aw thank you so much. I also wish you had loved it as much as me cause I had a great time. But, it's all good, reading is subjective. You will get another success soon, I'm sure
@@KatieColson I sure hope so. 2023 was not the best reading year for me. Hoping for a lot of 5 stars in 2024!
One of many top books to check out! Great vlog! 📚☕☠️🦇🎃
Will be listening to the audio, I shall return for spoilers promptly. 🖤
Katie:*mentions laundry*
Me: “oh shit my laundry”
🦷i've never read extreme horror before but this sounds so interesting and temptingggggg
Added to my to-buy list! A must for next year for me. Unfortunately no budget for books right now because of christmas and birthday presents. ^^' 🪰

🪰 I will definitely read this book!!!!
Just finished this 🦷 I’m thinking it might be a 4.5 or 5. Favs: The writing, the audiobook narrator (Sosie Bacon did a great job), and Maeve’s panic over the changing timeline.
🦷I haven't read it but I want to read it now... and still wanted to hear the spoilers lol
bit late but your favs of 2023 video made me read this and now i’m finally watching your review. new favorite book for me FOR SURE. absolutely obsessed. a fucking masterpiece.

edit: yep, did it. i bought it. 🪰 ... and coming back here to watch the spoilers part when i'm done. 😅
I loved the book, but I hated the ending. Mostly because it broke my heart and I hate a tragic ending like that.
Yeah I can definitely understand that
🦷🦷 I am so glad you did a spoiler section because I can't read extreme horror but I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. lol
Watching you react to this was almost as good as reading it for the first time. I listened to it the first time, but I need to physically read as well. Oh yeah, I was driving during the curling iron scene. Don't think I'll ever forget that. 🥚👁🦷 Wait....there is going to be a 2nd book?
Got 12% through this video and went & bought the book on audio… paused the video to start it and ended up staying up all night listening to it on 1.4x speed… then came back here to finish the video!!!!! Omfgggggg!! What was that?! Wonderful. Amazing. Masterpiece. 🪰 🪰 🪰 🦷 🦷 🦷 (first time commenting but been subscribed since 2021!!)
