I know this is old haha but if anyone passing by the comments happens to see, how can the volume of air exist and not be 0 if we assign the mass as 0, and density = mass / volume, so solving for V when M = 0 equates the V to 0? I saw a tip online somewhere to use the mass of the total sample. Is this accurate?
Thanks for asking. The mass of the air is simplified by setting it to zero. The actual density of air is 1.222 kg per cubic meter. Compare that with water which has a density of 1000 kg / m^3. So for most applications, assuming air has 0 mass has little effect on the final calculations.
