    I'd like to know, how can one notice if one these muscles lags behind or is underdeveloped. Are there any signs or indications, like hip imbalance.

      underdeveloped would depend on many things like age, activity levels, if they have an injury, goals etc. Looking for an imbalance would be a good idea for most people. That can be done by comparing single leg movements from side to side. for example, how well someone could do the single leg glute bridge or hip thrust on each side. or, how fast they fatigue on each side doing side leg raises. Hope this helps.
