Shocked to see the treasure hunt one on there.... it's genuinely one of my favorites. It also goes really well as a chaser to videos covering Masquerade (and it's obscure video game offshoots.) Ghost Eddie Deezen is hilarious too!
I watched all of these videos at least once. I binged the whole series almost non-stop in the summer of 2016 because I found the one about Max headroom. This is a great video.
I thought the Treasure Hunt episode was way more popular and was surprised it made this list. It's one of my favorites considering it was a sub-genre I had literally never heard of. It had the delightful side-effect of sending me down the rabbit hole of "Million Dollar Mystery" trivia (between IMDB, Wikipedia and TVTropes reading). That episode is required OA viewing in my opinion. Hopefully this video will give it the love it deserves.
The Treasure Hunt episode is one of my favorites, and I believe the second (first being scary VHS logos) episode that sold me on the channel upon my initial discovery.
I found your show via an episode about Conservative music episode and some of my favorites are about abandoned media formats and Record Rip-offs. Have the good rest of the year!
The Treasure Hunt episode is one of my favorites. What an oddly fascinating trend. See also Stuart Ashen's video about the "Hareraiser" computer game, an unfortunate coda to the original "Masquerade" book.
We all need cheese and corn to recharge our funnybones, so this episode is a necessary part of a well-balanced diet. Thank you for a generous helping, Ben, and I'm glad to be here for seconds because I recognize a couple clips. I especially remember watching one episode you clipped into here. It looked like how I've had to rig wires to record old media. You had impressed me by making it work like I'd had to. Hope you got to enjoy good tryptophan zzz'z (or "turkey coma" as I've known it). Happy Thanksgiving from here in Canada, Darren
Ah, NICE! A Thanksgiving episode of The Oddity Archive! :-) Gonna make a quick beer run soon, and working today, 4 pm - 12 am (from either my kitchen or living room). DEFINITELY looking forward to checking this later, when I return! Thanks, and a VERY HAPPY Thanksgiving to Ben Minnotte & The Oddity Archive! :-)
Your episodes are the bright point in some otherwise dreary days, just when I am about to put the gun in my mouth you drop one of these chestnuts, and I realize I am not the only one with no life. Keep up the good work.
@@5roundsrapid263 Same here. Ironic how blip actually dropped the show and Ben had to change to the internet's version (at least back then) of Public Access.
Hey Ben. I'm pretty sure (I think?) that episode 14 was a kind of a catalyst, where your channel and my viewing of your channel took hold ? Personally I really enjoyed this episode and was kind of hoping for more stuff like this. I recall thinking, "I like the way he thinks here." Anyway, I won't ramble on as I'm told that I have a tendency to do except for, Thanks for another interesting show.
So, I'm new around here. Only seen ~2 dozen episodes... but of those, the reel-to-reel and Halloween episodes are #1 and #2 on my favorites list, and I'm surprised to see them mentioned again here!
The Laservision Karaoke Vol. 2 was home to the neon nightmare faces singing The Macarena, right? That one left an impact on me... nights of sleep for a couple weeks shot. That one was hard to top.
I've seen all these, pretty sure. I thought they were fine. But then, your channel is a crossroads of various interests of mine that seem unrelated. There are other people besides me who are fascinated with Max Headroom, Emergency Alert System history, AND thrifting?
Happy Thanksgiving Ben. I enjoyed the last two LaserKaraoke videos, that series is one of my favorites. I actually sang karaoke to a disc (it was one never featured), and it was so messed up musically I had to quit the song.
Great video. Nice to see some of them past video's again. I might go back and have a look at them in full. Just a small video idea (if you are looking for one for an episode), although it may not be a good one: The History of Colour Television, maybe covering NTSC, PAL and SECAM regions and how America got colour television way before Europe did. Another (which relates with the previous idea): The changeover from VHF 405 line television to UHF 625 line (I think it's 525 lines in America) television. You don't have to take them idea's, it's just something if you would like to add to the list.
It's where I used to put the especially volatile (in terms of copyright) episodes. Lost access to it years ago--never been able to get it back. I'm amazed it still exists.
I've always wondered if Benny Boy ever made a playlist of the songs from "Treasure: In Search of the Golden Horse". "Hangin' on the Shadows" was a real ear worm for me for awhile.
I'm really surprised about the KFC one and the LD Karaoke ones. The LD Karaoke are some of my favorites and those ads were fascinating; IDK, I like old ads, It takes you back and makes you wonder how society was back then if you weren't alive yet.
Howdy. In your opening, there is a snippet of a movie with some sort of drunk cowboy looking guy and an anxious girl. What is that from? Big fan here. Keep doing what you do. :-)
The maintenance/demand of sacrifice might actually be one of my favorite ones. It's got all the pluses of using older technology to do storytelling without quite the edginess of creepypasta, but isn't so 'comedy' that I dislike it.
Ben, If you see this I need your help. There is an OA episode that I remember watching, that I can not find now. It featured the VHS of “Linda Blair’s How to Get Revenge”. I’m assuming it is one of the VHS Vault episodes, but I can’t find it. Does this exist? Or am I going crazy? Also, The Treasure Hunt episode is one of my favorite OA’s ever! Would love a sequel.
@@OddityArchive ok so I am losing my mind. Lol. Or Mandela Effect at work? In any case, it would be awesome if you did cover it at some point in the future, either on its own or as part of a VHS Vault.
I am pretty sure I saw that on RedLetterMedia, on one of the "Best of the Worst." Probably a Wheel of the Worst, but I can't remember which one, offhand.
@@itme999 yeah you are right. But they only watched like 2 minutes of the video. I swear I remember watching one where they riff the entire thing from beginning to end.
14:02 I did the math, and Million Dollar Mystery lost over EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS. ($8,010,967 to be exact), which it's no mystery why it bombed that hard. The film sucked.
All of Oddity Archive is underrated.
Glad your first episodes are doing well at least.

Funny enough, UA-cam put an ad for Overeaters Anonymous before the video for me. Given the timing it's downright funny.
On the flipside of that, I had ads come up for a burger chain.
With ad blocker plus, YT don't put shit on b4 the videos with me. They try some pop over word ads on Sunday night though.

The Transmitter Maintenance episode deserved an award. One of the most re-watchable episodes you've made.

Aw. I liked the trippiness of the first Christmas Special. Rough sure, but it was fun
The first Christmas special featured the EAS Bot which is from the Logo and Intro Blooper series.
I’ve been watching since the Blip days. I’m really old school!

Yeah. Happy Thanksgiving. I’m relatively new to your channel. I really enjoy your posts. Thanks for what you do!
Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating today and happy Thursday to everyone not. 😊
You know we are all going back to watch that stuff. i can't believe Sillycise slipped my mind, that was .... wrong!
7:24 - Episode 14 remains a favourite. The "adopt an Amish person" routine amuses the hell out of me!
Happy Thanksgiving Ben!

What about the old OA channel trailer from 2012?
Huh, the treasure hunt episode is one of my favorites, shame it didn't really catch on.
Can you get to the bottom of the He-Man Linda Gary being credited (sometimes) Linda Gray? It did drive me crazy. No one else seemed to notice or care.
Still in the middle of binge watching. Almost there. Plus, I do watch the new ones as they come out, so I'm probably almost done now.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! 🦃

There’s a channel that used to upload the “lost” episodes, but they stopped uploading 5 years ago, so chances are they’re all ones ben doesn’t like

Well that makes sense. Never realized it was you, always assumed it was an account made by a fan
The Great Archive Treasure Hunt episode was great -- as were a lot of these other ones. Everyone else's loss.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
Happy Thanksgiving, Ben!
Ben, i loved the treasure hunt video, it was a great episode, i never realized it got such low views

Can't say I understand why you don't like the Treasure Hunt episode. Out of all the episodes featured here, it's one of my absolute favorites.
I love the obscure topics, and it’s easily the most obscure of all.
I will take one of those over 100 Ben's Junk episodes.
whaaat??? the halloween episode last year rocks lmao
I recognized several of these, either you've reused them or I've seen them

To my (admittedly old) ass, "Silly Cise" contains 1.44525x the "nightmare fuel" of the "Happy Hamster". 😜
I find it interesting that this episode now falls under Ben's criteria for OA lost classic. At the time of this comment (01/07/22) only 4,798 views.
24:36 -- She's been playing Paper Mario again I see...

It's from 'Manos: The Hands of Fate.' The guy is John Reynolds, who played Torgo. Reynolds unfortunately died not long before the film was released.

Don't think I'd have gotten away with that one.

Do a video on lost UA-cam channels that only have videos with relatively few views too.
