This was legit how I use to play Mario Party 3 with my siblings. I have 3 siblings and we only owned 2 controllers and a racing wheel for the N64 so when we we wanted to play 3 players someone had to use the racing wheel and we just got use to it.
All he has to do is blj to McDonalds at the same exact frame he does the 0 star run which in turn will not only prove he can do the challenge but he will be an excellent entertainer while doing so

You've done it with a drum set, so how about with a musical keyboard? Admittedly, I don't know if there's a way to set it up as a controller in the first place, but if there is, it could be pretty amusing. I'm guessing it would be on the easy side, since you'd have more than enough "buttons" to work with, but then again, I don't know.

There's another option to get Bowser moving, you can pick him up and throw him without spinning him. This will take longer but in theory it only takes one attempt.
you could mod or rom hack it to make the pedal whatever direction mario is facing and make the steering wheel spin the control stick clockwise or counterclockwise
You know you're too far in this rabbit hole when one of your first thoughts upon seeing a newly released controller are "Can I beat Super Mario 64 with it".
I had little doubt you could beat this before you even watched it, although Bowser tosses gave me pause. IMHO, controllers aren't very interesting because how possible the game's objectives are hasn't changed, just how well they can be done. And to simply beat SM64 at all doesn't require many difficult inputs.
