Mumias Sugar Company is located in Mumias, Kakamega County, Kenya. It was established in 1971, experienced maximum sugar production in 2005, and collapsed in 2015 due to corruption and inefficiency. Its collapse turned the once vibrant Mumias Town into a ghost town. Shibale and the nearby market centers were not spared from the harsh economic realities that faced the company. Plans are underway to make the company reclaim its lost glory

It is painful to watch. Corruption kills and ruins people lives, nothing disappoints dreams of a nation than Corruption. I wish all Kenyans alive can watch this, its so heavy graphically loaded in civic education and importance of engaging our head in the polling booth.

I visited there in 2001 and played basketball. It's amazing how one guy swindled and then became governor and swindled again. We will never forget mumias.
