a good way to get the liquids into the tumblers is to use condiment bottles from the dollar store! that's what I've used previously andi t's just so much easier! Awesome tutorial!
Luved your tutorial. Great explanation and thank you for including the supply list and links for each product. Wasn't sure what the transparent film was so that link was helpful. I ordered it on Amazon. Can't wait to try it.
I’m always iffy using a drill to make the holes because I’m always worried about cracking or damaging the second wall soo I like to use a small soldering tool
Would it effect the lava lamp flow of the glycerin if you add glitter to it? I feel like it would make it heavier and sink faster. Have you tried this?
just reaching out to you - do you have a video on how to do the insides of a story board? I was given a few tumblers that comes apart where I can paint or decal the insides (which are black) & then fill up the insides & screw inside to out & UV the rim to seal hope this makes sense lol - love watching your videos
How fun…this will be an awesome project with my great-niece and nephew during the Christmas holidays! 🥰🥰 Now after completely watching the video, I’m wondering how a 1” hole saw bit would work… drill right in the center, bigger hole to maybe add some small embellishments, like letters and then use that same hole piece to place back over the hole and proceed with sealing…🤔
You can also get the gorilla glue dots, apply that on top of the hole press down and then put the UV on top of the hole and turn the light on and that’s it. It’s a better way than how you’re doing in.
Do I want to use oil or alcohol based coloring? You mentioned the alcohol ink & I've also heard of using oil based food coloring. lol just want to be sure.
Great question! I did have one leak I made. It was the first one I tried. I didn’t clean the baby oil I had spilled good enough and it had a slow leak that I didn’t notice until the next day. After that I haven’t had any issues.
When I used my uv resin to seal my cup it wouldn't stick. I cleaned with pure isopropyl alcohol and even lightly sanded, but the resin seal just kept popping off. Have you ever had this issue?
So...I'm cheap and lost my plastic sheets, so I cut a hole out of a plastic baggie. I resin it on there. Sometimes I cover it with more epoxy that has color
Are these the one from michales I got some they are so easily breakable I broke too by them falling over and they all have scratches any advice where to by ones that aren't scratched
The glitter globes have come a long way since this video! The company I buy my blanks from has an array of fillable tumblers that either unscrew for you or have the hole already. Here is the link 🤗 thestainlessdepotcompany.com/pages/search-results-page?q=snow+globe+tumblers
I tried doing these using this video but it did not work all my glycerin is stuck on the bottom and won't flow up and down.... Any tips on what I did wrong maybe
@@SandysOrganizedChaos but which ones, if you don’t mind. Because I guessed abs bough some but the space between the walls is too thin and I barely got the a tablespoon of glycerin in before it was full so I couldn’t add the baby oil. ☹️
That is a great question! The materials injected in between the double walled acrylic tumblers aren’t safe for consumption. But if sealed and handled properly can’t harm you. I always check these tumblers before use to verify there is no leaking or damage out of the rim and bottom. I hand wash and make sure they aren’t left out in the elements. Putting them into the dishwasher or left in a hot car may harm the finish of any custom tumbler.
Awesome work!! I instantly got spooky goodness vibes lol. Have you had issues with these cups leaking? I’ve seen some reviews on the website of people saying they leak after filling them. I really want to start using these cups for my customers that don’t care for the overpriced Starbucks cups or that just don’t care for Starbucks.
I did have an issue the first couple of ones I made. Then I realized that I didn’t clean the baby oil off the bottom enough. Or if you mean up by the rim, technically these are not meant to have liquid put into the middle so when they manufacture them it may not be fully sealed at the top. When I made these I made sure to let them sit for a couple of days to make sure they wouldn’t leak. 💜
I don’t see why you couldn’t use a waterslide or brite tone. As far as mineral water I don’t know. I don’t know the consistency of mineral water vs baby oil. If it’s about the same consistency I’m assuming you could.
The only thing I can think of is that red has a yellow undertone and may stain in that manor. The staining my be from etching on the inner walls of the acrylic tumbler from production. If it’s etched it may take on coloring from the inks.
Mine did the same because I did glycerin first then baby oil, but realized I wanted to add more glycerin. And doing more glycerin after the baby oil was in it did not separate and the liquid was red not clear
That is a bummer when that happens. I had a few that did the same. I believe that is why people mainly use the Starbucks cups for it. They are better built.
I’m not certain on the longevity of water mixed in. I wouldn’t want it to become cloudy or mildewed over time. Seeing as I’ve only had one for a month now with the solution I’ve used it has stayed true to color. I would need to use one with water mixed in and have it for awhile to see if it would work the same.

I just discovered that!!! It works well!
Thank you for this tutorial on how to make lava lamp tumblers😃👍🏼
Thank you for sharing you're the best
So very glad I ran across this tutorial. I decided to try this and it came out fantastic!!!!
Does it mix after a while?
I love this video I can’t wait to try it

Learned a lot ty
I love these more than the glitter flow ones!!
Thank you Megan! 💜

These would be great true crime tumblers!
These are VERY COOL 😎 I love lava lamps too and you hit this out of the park!!! 🥰
Thank you Phyllis 💜💜🥰
Great tutorial, clear instructions and very calming voice
Would it effect the lava lamp flow of the glycerin if you add glitter to it? I feel like it would make it heavier and sink faster. Have you tried this?
I only just came across this video. And thank you I've asked people on tiktok how to make them. They just no sorry can't let u no that
Fabulous! What fun! Thanks for showing us this. We got this!!
These cups are gorgeous 😍😍Thanks for this tutorial, I love the way you explain step by step the whole process 🙏 Definitely I'll be trying this😉✌
You’re very welcome Melissa! And thank you 💜💜
Amazing video. Thank you so much.
Wow 🤩 amazing video
Thank you so much for taping another great tutorial. Why do you need to use vegetable glycerin instead of just regular glycerin?
Im making this now! Ill post on my cp later. I'll shoot a link to you ❤
Thanks for sharing! They all turned out great! I can't wait to do some of these ❤
Have you tried the stainless depot snowglobe tumblers that screw together? I would love to see a video
Definitely doing my son wants a cup

That looks so fun! Thanks for the great tutorial
You’re very welcome Pascha! 💜💜
Omg how cool!!!!
Thank you Courtney 🥰💜💜
Love this !
Thank you 🥰💜
On the lava lamp mix can you add a fine glitter? Will it still float well

It never hurts to give it a try! Experimenting is all a part of learning 🤗💜💜
Muitooooo obrigada
OMG - can’t wait to trid this one
🤗💜
Yesss love love ! Ty
You’re very welcome 🤗
Making them for Halloween 🦇🎃👻
Very cool! Thank you!
You’re so very welcome Darcy! 🤗💜
Can you use this same process and ingredients with snow globe glasses?
Can you add glitter to the glycerin and baby oil and still get the lava lamp effect?
Love this ❤️
Thank you!
Can you use multiple colors?
Love this! Defiantly going to try this. Sandy, have you ever done the storyboard tumblers? My daughter wants me to do Jack Skellington for her.
Thank you DeaAnne! I have not done a tutorial yet on a storyboard but it is on my list 🤗💜
Can I use acrylic paint to make the color?? My brother wants me to make him a black one
Mine is just not moving like yours lol do you think I could add a bit of water to my glycerin mix?
Can you put polymer clay shapes or glitter in these lava lamp tumblers or will it clog it up?
Is there a way you make the red glow?
Can you have roo diff colors. Like blue and red? Instead of a clear one?
Do you have to wait for degasing like glitter snow globes? Or is a same day process?
You can also get the gorilla glue dots, apply that on top of the hole press down and then put the UV on top of the hole and turn the light on and that’s it. It’s a better way than how you’re doing in.
This was a few years back. Crafting is always evolving with new products and techniques. You’re right, this is how I do it now as well. Much easier.
Is there a way to seal the tiny holes on the rim of the cup? Mine leaks from the top of the cup!
Hiii! Question can you use acrylic paint as well or you don’t recommend?
I use a heat tool to make my holes 😁
Do I want to use oil or alcohol based coloring? You mentioned the alcohol ink & I've also heard of using oil based food coloring. lol just want to be sure.
Do I have to let this degas like the others ? If so how manu days
can you use glass tumblers for these?
This is such a great tutorial, can you do one with glow powder
Thank you! Yes I’ve seen them done with glow powder as well 💜
Can you do a tutorial on the glow in the dark?
I have just made my first blood drip tumbler but my oil has turned yellowish within the first day. Is there a way of preventing this from happening?
Omg this is soooooooo awesome!! What shade alcohol ink is that? It's the perfect color!!!!
I used Crimson alcohol inks from Tim Holtz 🤗💜💜
This is awesome I’m definitely going to try! Have you had any issues with the cups leaking ?
Great question! I did have one leak I made. It was the first one I tried. I didn’t clean the baby oil I had spilled good enough and it had a slow leak that I didn’t notice until the next day. After that I haven’t had any issues.
When I used my uv resin to seal my cup it wouldn't stick. I cleaned with pure isopropyl alcohol and even lightly sanded, but the resin seal just kept popping off. Have you ever had this issue?
These are amazing!!! May I ask where you got those little plastic pieces to cover the holes ?
Sure! They are the same film used to make shaker keychains. I got them off Amazon 💜
So...I'm cheap and lost my plastic sheets, so I cut a hole out of a plastic baggie. I resin it on there. Sometimes I cover it with more epoxy that has color

What’s the ratio 2:1 sorry new to this but I would love to try to make one of these . Thank you
You are correct! One part baby oil to two parts vegetable glycerin. 💜
I thought it was the other way?
@@normastewart681 oh goodness, I did mess my words up, sorry about that. One part vegetable glycerin, two parts baby oil.
I tried doing these using this video but it did not work all my glycerin is stuck on the bottom and won't flow up and down.... Any tips on what I did wrong maybe
Hi! Thank you for this video but the cup blanks take me to a page for stainless steel tumblers. ?
Yes, that is where I purchase my blanks. She has an acrylic section full of different styles.
@@SandysOrganizedChaos but which ones, if you don’t mind. Because I guessed abs bough some but the space between the walls is too thin and I barely got the a tablespoon of glycerin in before it was full so I couldn’t add the baby oil. ☹️
Have you tried doing one with acrylic paint instead of alcohol ink? ☺️
I haven’t! Is it the same process just with paint instead of ink?
Sou do Brasil, Lindo Trabalho, Consigo Ver o Seu Vídeo Com Tradução? Obrigada 😊
Are any of the supplies toxic? Like the glycerin or alcohol ink? I have small children and try to use safe products. ☺️
That is a great question! The materials injected in between the double walled acrylic tumblers aren’t safe for consumption. But if sealed and handled properly can’t harm you. can you do this with paint??
Have you ever just done paint? without the lava lamp look? Is that possible?
Have you done this method using multiple colors???
I did mine exactly like you said and mine doesn't drip down , what did I do wrong
Hello! New here! Did you have any issues with the baby oil fogging up your cup?
I haven’t. I have heard of people accidentally putting them in the fridge then they have an issue with that.

@@SandysOrganizedChaos thanks so much for the response 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Can you add a bit of glitter inside as well ?
You could definitely give it a try and see if it works 💜 Art is all about experimenting 🤗💜
I cant ever get mine to work the liquid is always thin patchy streaky. stains the inside of the cup and just looks bad
Do you ever have a problem with these cups leaking from the tops? I went to order them and the reviews are bad saying they leak.
Can I put A waterslide decal over it and then seal it with brightone? and can i use mineral oil?
I don’t see why you couldn’t use a waterslide or brite tone. As far as mineral water I don’t know. I don’t know the consistency of mineral water vs baby oil. If it’s about the same consistency I’m assuming you could.
What happens if you put glitter in it?
Was that alcohol ink that you added to the resin to color it?
Tim Hultz Crimson
Could you put a color in the baby oil too?
I have seen others do that as well, yes
Out of curiosity. Can I use gel food coloring?
That is a great question! I don’t see why not but I would definitely do a tumbler first and let it sit for a week to see how it adjust.
Do you think this would work with baby oil and water dyed with food coloring?
I don’t think it would. I don’t know the longevity of using water inside of the cup. I wouldn’t want it to get moldy or cloudy.
@@SandysOrganizedChaos thank you so much! ❤️
What’s the color called?
can you use resin liquid pigments?
That is a great question! And I honestly don’t know 😅 if you have an extra tumbler to experiment I’d definitely give it a try and see if it won’t mix.
@@SandysOrganizedChaos so I tried it .... It doesn't work. It also ruined the cup.
Is there a reason why my cup started to stain a yellow after finishing it
The only thing I can think of is that red has a yellow undertone and may stain in that manor. The staining my be from etching on the inner walls of the acrylic tumbler from production. If it’s etched it may take on coloring from the inks.
Are you able to drink out of them?
Yes! All of the lava look is safely inside the double walls just like glitter flow tumblers or snowball tumblers 💜
Did your baby oil end up yellowing later on? I did this and my baby oil turned yellow
Did you find a solution. My first one just done the same
My cup got stain on top ? Do you know why ?
Mine did the same because I did glycerin first then baby oil, but realized I wanted to add more glycerin. And doing more glycerin after the baby oil was in it did not separate and the liquid was red not clear
I found that when using glycerin it molds after time which is really odd
Oh that is odd. I will have to look into that and make sure it is sustainable.
Make sure to use distilled water and not tap
Mine keeps leaking oil I can't seem to get it to stop 😭
That is a bummer when that happens. I had a few that did the same. I believe that is why people mainly use the Starbucks cups for it. They are better built.
No water??

just did 1 of these, to play with materials. As fun as they are, it's not practical :(
