I think the most refreshing thing about this channel is Ben Cossy's genuine enthusiasm for all things constraction. There is no "Bionicle was better than Hero factory" or vise versa. No "This wave of Hero Factory sucked". It's all just positivity. I think that's the mark of a true creative: someone who finds excitement in even the less popular pieces of art.

You forgot to mention those cool looking pearl silver upper leg bone pieces on that prototype bulk mech! Definitely would've been such a nice color to get those in, but at least we have the more skeletal versions from Bionicle G2.
I think that tiki guy who may or may not be an early Witch Doctor looks pretty cool. I've seen tiki images on merchandise in my childhood and it would be cool to see something like that in Bionicle or Hero Factory. I think the early Bulk machine was quite an interesting prototype.
2:44 That definitely is Maxilos' mask (albeit flipped), you can see that circle where the grey tube connects to Maxilos' mask next to the blue "cross" on the Nebula prototype. Also the fangs on the lower half of proto-Nebulas' mask look alot like the ones on Chirox/Mutran's mask.
amazing to see a video on prototypes! firelord still looks sick! sad thath they didint fly with it. the only reason i have thath they didint fly with the fire villians, witch doctors staff and queen beast is thath either thath they wanted a lower piece count or they wanted it cheaper. also i really like thath witch doctor design at 1:55
First thing I thought of with that Black Witch Doctor piece was Black Mask from DC. I only know if the character because of the Birds of Prey movie, but there's a moment where Ewan McGregor wears it with this white suit, and I know people have been able to make some decent suited character builds, so that would have been cool.
There's another cool detail in the prototype Newspaper featuring a proto-Von Nebula face (First thing I thought was "Chirox!" It looks dope as well). There's a news story written in the paper (obviously relating to ano early Hero Factory story they were planning), telling that Von Nebula commamded an Army instead of a small group of bandit robots. And they invaded Planet: Earth! And Hero Factory came all the way from their place in the Galaxy to stop the invaders. Now if Hero Factory was a Sci-fi story connecting to our world, then it would plant many different seeds of creativity. Maybe this is in a future where society on Earth is different? And there's of course the interesting speculation of how highly intelligent robots and humans would interact. Also loved seeing all the other prototypes. My favorite other than the Newspaper being the Guns 'n' Roses reference. Happy building!
I haven't seen anyone mention that the prototype box art for queen beast has the hero factory building. Maybe Invasion From Below was supposed to take place in Makuhero City?
Legit question here! As a Bionicle fan who sadly was only getting into Lego at the tail end of G1 Bionicle run, I never got that many sets. Most of my parts were from the 2015/16 (can’t remember) revamp. So CCBS/constraction system. Where can I get the parts in bulk to make some awesome designs??
I have that Queen Beast set, plus I made a Queen Beast Revamp. I feel scammed on both ends solely because of that insane armor piece! Edit: That lower jaw is different too! Plus the staff uses different parts, the crown is entirely different, and I don't think it has those trans green wings.
