I’ve always loved how much tension I does so it actually stands up like that
Short explanation on this Tensegrity: the chain in the middle is keeping the top piece from falling down, but the top piece still wants to fall backwards. So the chains on the other side hold it in place so it doesn't fall backwards. Both chains have to distribute the weight in an equal ratio for it to work.
Thank you!!

for anyone who doesn’t know how its happening: the middle chain stops the top piece from falling towards the ground, but it still gonna fall backwards. that’s when the side chains come in and use stress to stop it falling
basically the middle is the center point and the outer chains are just holding it in place like a equal loop?
@@Slayer25235 the middel chain part is heavier and holds it and the backchains hold it from falling forward

If anyone's wanting to build a full-sized table version of this, I'd suggest adding a small rod on a hinge that can lock the table in place and make it an actual table.
Left by itself it's beautiful, but one small bump would send it toppling over. The clasp can let you have a reliable table that you can then unhook from time to time to display the tensegrity part as a party trick. Then you could clasp it back and it'd be stable again.
It would look hella cool at all times tho, so it would definitely be worth building. Just my thought on the practicalities
Or just add more chains that prevent the table from falling in more directions.
@@Eshtian I mean either way would work, for sure
it wouldnt be stable even if it didnt topple its just art

@@ArtyomiNo, because lanterns under sand is completely different from the structure
Oh man I want to build a little mini wooden table version of this with chairs
A slight bump would knock it over without any form of support, so I wouldn't suggest putting anything like liquids on it.
@@O111e depends on how many chains you use. If you have at least three evenly spaced puter chains it is relatively stable and you have to disconnect at least one chain to knock it over if the chains are indeed under tension.
@@dragonmasterlangeweg7625 Yeah, that was one of my thoughts for support but I didn't know whether or not it'd work.
@@O111e mku
An even cooler table idea is to get a sheet of wood and 4 heavy buckets. Tie one bucket to each corner of the wood on a string and hang the buckets from the ceiling. Then you rest the objects on the wood. It will stay perfectly in place because the buckets are lifting the wood on a pulley but they are laying on it preventing it from rising at the same time, you end up with a table with no legs

@shoeshine_stan how?
Here’s an explanation. It’s not being held up by the two tall chains, it’s trying to go down but the small chain keeps a certain part of it up. The upper part of the stick is being kept from going backwards by the two tall chains. Hope this helps you understand
The weight on the small chain’s side is what keeps it from going backwards, longer chains are there just to keep it from swaying by applying tension.
What if you added a third chain along with the 2 that are holding it from going backward?
Would that give it extra support?
@@NoHandle44 yes. What you've described is the most common example for tensegrity structures, in fact.
