You said yeti and tourit ran out last night, but around what time? If the Engel had ice at 9pm and the other two ran out at 8:30 then it’s not much of a difference probably.
Coolers On Sale it’s a brand that I’ve seen in Costco I’ve heard good things about it but I think putting it to the test here with you the way you do it I think it’s the best way to do it!!
@@CoolersOnSale , I know I got a 30can version of the Coho brand at Costco as well. It was $49.99 and is built on par with YETI or RTIC without any stretch. It's an amazing soft sided bag that holds ice for a good 3 days in 92-95 Degree weather. I'm loving mine.
Any idea whether the newer version of the hopper, the hopper two, performs better than the hopper one tested in this video? The newer version has more insulation. As of now, the Engel seems like the route to go though
Wouldn't waste money on the Hopper II. I bought the Engel HD30 (it's actual name, not "TPU") & it's legitamitely perfect for our family. Handles on the ends that are similar, but easier to use, to those on a normal cooler. Wife can sling it around and it holds enough stuff for our family of 4 to hit the ball fields for a whole day or load up for a weekend trip with hotel. Hopper is more expensive, is not roomy enough for that "one more thing" and the HD30 is so light that it makes more sense than buying a small roto-molded cooler to get maybe 1 extra day of cold
We haven't tested the RTIC yet. Every time we have attempted to in the past, some sort of issue would come up. Out of inventory, delayed shipping, etc. Eventually I got fed up with the customer support. Several other people who have commented on here have confirmed the same. Engel on the other hand has fantastic customer support. Not to mention this cooler has now beat out every other soft sided we have tested. Engel TPU: amzn.to/2IkDL6U
Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping you'd push me towards the Engel because I want to be able to justify paying the extra over the RTIC. Do you guys get any coupons or discounts from any of these folks? Or maybe affiliate links? I'd love to save some money on the Amazon price but it would be great to also support you guys and the testing you do!
From the reviews I read, it seems like all soft-sided coolers have zipper failure problems. Why are the zippers so problematic? Which brands have the most reliable zippers? Thanks!
I really want a backpack style, and I can't see the Otterbox being $100 better than the Engle from the research I've done. Keep up the good work on your reviews, I think their great!
I think a Thermoelectric of Fridge Freezer is probably better: www.coolersonsale.com/dometic-travel-trailer-refrigerator-vs-engel-fridge-freezer/ but if you want a soft sided, this is the best we have tested to date: amzn.to/2XXWOIx
Coolers On Sale i see i appreciate the fast reply. As a college student/athlete i get my ice from the trainers room but the small cooler im using loses almost all its ice by the end of the day.
Does anyone know of a small soft cooler, lunch box size? Im looking for something to use during my long hikes. I want a cold beer/coke when im at the peak haha
A problem with your test. One of the bigger factors of how long ice lasts in a cooler is determined by how much empty space there is. Because these cooler are different sizes, this is not an accurate test. I am not so sure it is possible to do a perfect comparison test among all of these coolers.
if your from the uk and see a review on the nash polar bag do not buy it. it was reviewed as keeping ice for 72hrs. I bought it and got 10hrs after keeping it in the shade all day. total waste of cash. going to import the engel
We've tried explaining this several times via comments before but we attempted to get an RTIC many times in the past to participate in these challenges. However, every time some sort of a snag would occur, out of inventory, backorders, etc. Eventually we just gave up with the runarounds. Many others have experienced the same according to comments on here.
I've actually purchased and returned 3 separate rtic soft-side coolers in the past 6 months due to terrible quality. I tried very hard to like them and support the cheaper "underdog" but I can tell you firsthand, they do not compare to the quality of craftsmanship of the softside engel or yeti. The rotomolds may be a different story though
Thanks for your reviews. I bought an Engel based on your reviews and have been happy with it and get many a compliment on it.
Ditto.
Any chance we could see an updated comparison with more coolers?
Just uploaded a new video for Mammoth Coolers.
These have been very helpful, considering the cost of these coolers and their worthiness.
Do you ever plan on testing the Otterbox Trooper LT30 soft cooler?
Yes we do, we are working on that now!
You said yeti and tourit ran out last night, but around what time? If the Engel had ice at 9pm and the other two ran out at 8:30 then it’s not much of a difference probably.
No, we wouldn't make that comparison. It needs to be a half day or more.
Been here since the 5 day challenge keep it up guys
I would love to see the Coho and the Artic brother!!!
Thanks for all these vids. Really helps me make a right choice
Haven't heard of Coho, I'll check it out!

Have you looked at the Taiga soft cooler?
I wonder how good they be in my town. 120 degree in summer. Always work outside in the heat.
I wish these tests included a leak test. How well does the zipper hold in the melted water. That’s a deal breaker for me.
You can see this: ua-cam.com/video/cmKGaKNcVYY/v-deo.html
Please test Techni Ice soft cooler bags.
I would love to see this as well!
Hey guys! When can we expect a Yeti Hopper Flip 18 in one of these soft sided cooler challenge? Been waiting for a while!
Any chance of adding the techni ice soft sided one in your next test? Love your channel, cheers
How about testing the new hydro flask and otterbox soft sided coolers?
Coming soon! Thanks for the suggestion.
Any idea whether the newer version of the hopper, the hopper two, performs better than the hopper one tested in this video? The newer version has more insulation. As of now, the Engel seems like the route to go though
We haven't tested the Hopper 2 yet, but we are trying to line up the matchup.

Hey guys, I’m between the Rtic SoftPak 30 and the Engel HD30. Any reason to go one way or the other? I haven’t seen a comparison video yet.

Also, consider me subscribed!!
Can you test the Siberian soft cooler?
Try the scog a kust cooler. It’s supposed to better then all of those
From the reviews I read, it seems like all soft-sided coolers have zipper failure problems. Why are the zippers so problematic? Which brands have the most reliable zippers? Thanks!
Since Techni Ice has the longest ice retention on their rotomolded, how do their soft-sided models compare?
Holy fricking cow. These are bad butt
Any thoughts on the Engle HD30 vs Otterbox Trooper LT 30 Cooler? I like the backpack style of the Otterbox. Has anyone tested it?
We haven't tested the otter box yet, but we love the Engel HD30, its the best soft sided we have tested to date.
I really want a backpack style, and I can't see the Otterbox being $100 better than the Engle from the research I've done. Keep up the good work on your reviews, I think their great!
Thanks!
What soft sided cooler do you think would be best for living in your car ?
I think a Thermoelectric of Fridge Freezer is probably better: www.coolersonsale.com/dometic-travel-trailer-refrigerator-vs-engel-fridge-freezer/ but if you want a soft sided, this is the best we have tested to date: amzn.to/2XXWOIx
Coolers On Sale i see i appreciate the fast reply. As a college student/athlete i get my ice from the trainers room but the small cooler im using loses almost all its ice by the end of the day.
I would say the Engel HD: amzn.to/2FlorUz is the best bet then
Coolers On Sale thankyou! Is the polar bear 48pk a hard cooler?
No, its a soft-sided cooler but it holds its' shape due to the thick foam used.
Hey guys thanks for the reviews. But what's up no Pelican soft cooler? Could you do a side by side when you get it. Thanks!!
We have added it to the list, we will be doing this soon.
No RTIC testing? They seem to be just as effective asnthe Yeti
Does anyone know of a small soft cooler, lunch box size? Im looking for something to use during my long hikes. I want a cold beer/coke when im at the peak haha
Well done review, and helpful, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Are there any worthwhile soft sided coolers under $100?
Check into Polar Bear: amzn.to/2GPmxwe these are under $100
Thank you!
LL Bean makes them in a couple sizes also that’s not quite as long for ice but are really nice soft cooler bags
NICE POOL....that engel looks like a big pillow
The bigger ones have more air to cool it's unfair it's like a full freezer cost a lot less to run than an empty one
Yet the biggest one lasted the longest
Crazy.....the prices from earlier today have gone up on the Engel. Was $172 around noon
Would it be called a challenge or a test?
Hmmm it's all just semantics.... we'll leave that to the English Pro's
Comparison? 🤷♂️
Why not rtic
Can these "soft sided coolers" handle Dry Ice?
That's a good question
Where is the Orca??
We tested that here: ua-cam.com/video/MxPErxB3vY8/v-deo.html
It's clear, the Engel thermometer is biased towards Engel coolers...
Right? So racist.
Pelican ?
Where is the Arctic

Wouldn't size be a disadvantage, since it's more surface area? In this case the winner beat both coolers that are clearly smaller.
This shouldn't matter, the test works and gets the point across. The capacity of the cooler helps, but is not necessary for a test.

I don't understand.....do you guys just thumb your nose up at rtic? Is that why there are no reviews on them....
We've tried explaining this several times via comments before but we attempted to get an RTIC many times in the past to participate in these challenges.
