I mean, I asked my Early Buddhism teacher if the Buddha has talked about Amitayus in any sutta.
And he replied: "To my knowdlage, no he didnt"
Is Amitayus a Indo-Tibetan archetype?

Amitayus Buddha belongs to the Mahayana Sutra tradition.

@Dr. Octogon I'm not sure that the Japanese tradition influenced the Tibetan Amitabha. But I do see that in some Chinese translations they don't use the form 阿彌陀佛 for Amitabha where I was expecting it, but they use the 無量壽 (boundless life → Amitayus)
