    I always found myself struggling so much with the first tip. Especially as a content creator, I feel like everything I make has to be filmed and has to have a visual impact so people will click on my videos for engagement. I feel like I wasn't improving so much this way. Now that I have been drawing and painting for myself and stepping back to be inspired by other artists like you, I feel like my art feels more free and I'm enjoying the process more! Thank you for always sharing your work!

      taking a step back can be a really good idea!
      It sucks that creating content can feel like such an exhausting job and that creators are put through so much pressure to perform and always one-up themselves.
      Your content is great and a big part of what makes it enjoyable is you! Glad you're feeling better with that approach of doing it for yourself

      I struggle with the exact same thing! I feel so much pressure to make something impressive each time I create, because I want it to be "video worthy." Everytime I move away from that mentality, I find that my work improves and I enjoy myself more. It's a tricky balance to maintain though!
      I've been a fan of your art and videos for ages, so I am so honored to hear that my work inspires you! Always look forward to your videos and posts! 🩷🩷 Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment!

      I so feel this! My freelance colleagues and I often talk about this as a struggle of being a content creator. Everything becomes content and it doesn’t always have a good impact on that ‘play’ state of mind and therefore the end result. Finding the right balance is definitely a thing 😅

    for tips 1 and 3, a lot of people would benefit from trying the 30 brushstrokes exercise. Paint Coach has a whole video about it but the idea is to pick a simple subject (like a piece of fruit) and try to paint it using 30 brushstrokes or less. it really helps with simplifying, learning to paint looser, and mixing transitional colors because there's no blending allowed. it takes less than 30 min to get to the complete "piece" so you can do tons of studies in a short time!

    Thank you for the tip number 3. I always focus on the details that sometimes my artwork looks lifeless. Instead of incorporating tiny details I wanted to capture the mood of the painting but eventually failed to do so as my eyes always would find those fine details.
    Thank you for the tip to squint eyes. I squinted at a reference photo and it really really helps to understand the proportion and color palettes.

    Wonderful fish and tips, thanks for sharing! 😉 I love the floaty glowy colors, like a puffy fish space cloud~ For other animal suggestions, I'd love to see your take on other scaly or slimy friends like lizards, snakes, frogs, especially ones with vibrant colors.

    about art theft vs. inspiration:
    in one of my older sketchbooks I 1:1 copied a painting of an artist I liked. It was a big learning opportunity for me as it used deep shades in watercolor that I was not confident in yet, but it was just a copy of his work. I did credit him by making it clear it was his work (and also it's my personal sketchbook so nothing was wrong with this anyways)
    But now what I do is gather an artists work and then take my own reference that I interpret in their style!
    I drew myself in the style of Scott Christian Sava, in the style of Kasey Golden, etc.
    And for yours I would do the same.
    I learn so much more about the style that way and also how I would personally use it or what aspects I'd change.

    • @Rani.Dutta.
      @Rani.Dutta. 9 місяців тому

      I liked your idea. I will try the same as well.
      I always struggle to study artists' paintings when I try to copy their art but never been able to apply the style in another art piece.
      Thank you for this idea.

    • @emhuesart
      @emhuesart  9 місяців тому

      Thank you for sharing this with us, I think that is a fantastic way to learn! Even doing a 1:1 copy is so useful (as long as it's credited if shared of course!) Artists like Michelangelo learned their craft by copying other artists work. I don't think it is something that should be looked down upon at all!
      I really love the idea of trying to work in other artist's styles with different references as well! 😄

    Great tips, thank you! I really resonated with number 1 because lately I've been trying to let go of expecting a masterpiece everytime and I just doodle, then experiment with shapes and colors and often I end up doing something even prettier than I expected because I am not putting unnecessary pressure on myself and my hand is more free? Idk how to explain it, but it works!

    Lol Tip number 5 "'Learn from artists you admire" That would be you for me 😂. I always wanted to paint similarly to artists like you that produce colourful, vibrant pieces of artwork that aren't extremely defined ( which makes an artwork more interesting to look at imo).

    Is it weird that I hate the word art and artist
    Like it's gotten thrown around and used so lightly that it's completely lost meaning
    I much prefer illustrator, draftsman, painter etc...
