working in hardware stores, and using the stuff forever, you can nip the end of the tube off and just squeeze it. then take a stick or whatever and push the plunger inside down towards the tip! a nail in the tip where you cut the end off will save the caulk for a while too! this video is fantastic, btw! very helpful!😊
+S. Adamantia Thank you, I try not to ramble on too much. I don't like a lot of talking at the beginning of videos myself. I'm like "get to the good stuff already" lol.
I've been making these for a little over a year now and I love them! As long as you mix it well, add enough oil and paint and don't add too much cornstarch they come out super flexible and durable.
I like that moonman - and this was the best video on this I've seen. important to see WHEN you added the paint - AFTER it was all mixed. I have had a couple of failes and that's why - added it to the silicone OR the cornstarch - but after mixed is the way to go. Thanks - liked/subscribed.
Hi Sheer and thanks so much! I appreciate having you as a subscriber. I will do a update video soon. It's gotten a lot easier making them now. So stay tuned :)
Great idea, I've got a tube of caulk sitting right here on my desk from another project, I'm going to try this as soon as I can find a few things to mold to use with my polymer clay. Thank you
Thank you so much, I still have not had a chance to try that but I am glad you wrote and let me know to check it before I do. I just checked it and it's made by Dow Corning and it's 100% silicone. I really appreciate it.
Love the video I have a question after the mold is made would I be able to put polymer clay in the mold and bake it. like other silicone molds or will it damage the mold?
its only non-toxic after it has cured / dried, fyi. nothing too serious but it has things like acetone (nail polish remover). in it. Yea..... I know, they say 100%, but of course it isn't, more like 88%, according to their own bottle if I remember correctly. So anyway don't eat it anyone! lol good video by the way, I watched a few but after yours I feel ready to try it.
Hi ty so much for the info. I’m jw how much corn starch& oil to use? Do you just guess or eyeball it? Do you just add the powder& oil to get it to a certain consistency? If so what? Is it gonna be feeling like play dough? Tia sweetheart! I’m about to binge watch your videos;)
there is another method of just getting a bowl of water and put ALOT of dish soap (but dawn works best) and but 100% silicone and just kneed it and it hardens then mold shared your gonna mold and it's REALLY flexible
I'm trying to make a rubber slug out of silicone caulking. Then make a plaster cast over the clay sculpture then I want to put caulking soft like that but have it all in one form so it sticks all together and makes a slug out of rubber caulking. With your ideas would this work for me I have to go. DIY because I don't have a big budget
This is great thanks for putting this up! I was wondering If you've tried casting with this type of silicone. Also doe this shrink too much after the first use?
Not sure why you using baking powder in that case, other then trying to increase the overall volume of the mold material. Technically you can try using caulk silicone on its own. Cover the molded master object with mold releases, or spray with W40 (will serve as mold release). place modeling clay layer on the table, stick in the master object. Make a box around it. Pour in the silicone, let it settle and harden. Next day, when set - pull apart the mold box, pick up mold, and there ya go. This can be done for 2 sided mold too.
i tried this but my mold is still too soft and is a little sticky, will not dry out, do you think I used too much oil in it? strange yet is the smaller bit I picked out worked well, and made a mold of a small metal skull charm, no problem! perhaps you can only make a certain size mold? the one that didn't work is 6x the size, thanks for posting this great video and good luck getting a new camera
Help! What I bought was premium acrylic silicone sealant... cant find any 100% silicone here in the philippines. I tried using baby pwder and sealant but it became very sticky! Maybe i will try again tomorrow using cornstarch.
You can use any clear solicone and instead of all these extra steps you just put dishsoap into a bowl and mix it up nice and bubbly then put the silicone directly into the bowl and mix it in the water it will get all the sticky stuff off and you can work the silicone directly after
Would you say can use these for fondant piece? I already made some molds but since I sell treats Idk if this is okay...is a couple of people on here say that it's ok. But I'm assuming its toxic and also the smell of the molds is strong ng
I have used this since I first saw a video last year. The first few were horrible!! LOL. But being stubborn, I just kept at it. Now it comes naturally. You can actually feel when the piece has cured enough to start making the mold. Just remember not to use too much oil. BIG mistake.
+Nancy White I would not advise using water with this method. You can give it a try if you like as an experiment. I added oil and that made mine pretty smooth.
I really like it too, when I first saw it I wanted to make a mold from it. It's actually a plastic ring. I think it was from a package Valentines Day Lip Rings. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching :)
silicone can take up to 400°F of any kind of substance. If you need to be sure, just look at the side of the silicone bottle! It tells you all the details.
+Natasha Matteliano my 100% silicone caulking tube does not have a degree of what you can put near or on the silicone, the only mention of temp is what the ideal application temp should be to apply: 5-37 + Celsius
Hi! I recently saw this, and decided to give it a try yesterday. I use the same brand of silicone as you, except I'm using white since that's what I have on hand. My molds have been setting for well over 24 hours now, but they are still so soft! I'm worried about using any more cornstarch because the dough was already cracking and being difficult when I was forming the mold. Could this be because I'm using white silicone? Or too much cornstarch? Thank you!
I didn't have baby oil, and saw too late that vegetable oil works too. But I used a sesame body oil, and I was wondering if that could be the issue. It's a really light formula, way lighter than baby oil and most definitely lighter than vege or any food oils. I'm for sure using 100% silicone.
Maybe you used too much oil. Try it again with a little vegetable oil but used one drop at a time. Remember it does not take much! Too much oil and too much paint will cause it not to dry.
Hi I haven't heat tested these molds. I would be really a little concerned about the fumes. If you desire to test it please try it with a toaster oven outside your home so that you won't breath the fumes in.
You can get one of the guns to squirt it out for about five dollars at Walmart. I have done it with bare hands but it’s hard to get off of your skin. If you wear vinyl gloves you don’t even need the sticks just mixed it up with your hands.
I've been watching a bunch of DIY mold making videos and I think you accidentally discovered something I wanted to try. Inexpensive 100% silicone releases acetic acid (pure chemical vinegar), which gives it the bad smell. You used baking power which contains sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). These two chemicals should react to neutralize each other to form sodium acetate and carbon dioxide gas. The gas might form bubbles in the mold, but it looks like it wasn't much as it didn't affect your molds. This process will also make it less acidic and eliminate the smell quickly.
Hello... I AM in NEED of 7 molds of 7 different stickmen w/ 7 different stickmen action: jumping, lifting 1 leg, squatting, pulling, leaning, like its beating on someone or something, 1 leg & 1 foot up. I need someone creative & who is fair in costs. Do consider... Thanks

Finally a tutorial that gets right to the point! Thank you.
LOL!! Thank you :) I will be updating this soon. It's a whole easier now.
At last a clean, easy, without talking video, about home made molds !
+S. Adamantia Thank you, I try not to ramble on too much. I don't like a lot of talking at the beginning of videos myself. I'm like "get to the good stuff already" lol.

divalish1 Thanks for the advice, this is really going to save me some cash lol :)
divalish1 it would be nice to see you do this in tutorial :-)

Perfect!!! :) You are so very welcome :) If you don't get it right the first time just keep trying :)
Yes! I am pretty stubborn when I want to do something, I will!
First attempt is curing/hardening right now! Thanks for the video, hope it works!!
Thanks for saving me on a caulking gun!!! Best video I’ve seen so far! Subbed!
Thank you Nioaka!! I'm happy that it helped you!! 😊😊
Thank you for the time and effort you put into this informative video. This might be just what I needed to make flexible molds for resin jewels.
Love and understand. Had but ran outta and used and works tips. Those are helpful thanks great video. Which other powders have you tried good and bad?
Very nice tutorial! excited to make my own mold. Thank you!
Thank you!! I'll have a new one up soon :)
Thank you for such a great money saving tip. This is fantastic !
You're welcome 😊
Love the video I have a question after the mold is made would I be able to put polymer clay in the mold and bake it. like other silicone molds or will it damage the mold?
You make it look so easy! I'm going to try it!
thanks for experimenting and sharing your results with us

Thank you for the tip about taking off the bottom of the bottle. I almost bought a caulk gun
+The Main Sarah Jane You're welcome :)
Hi..cool video...i tried but mold gets crack...can you suggest what type of silicone to be used?
Sorry for the late reply. I just use regular clear all silicone, I mostly purchase mine from Dollar General $3 a tube.
Hi Krysta, I'm sorry for the late reply. Yes, I just eyeball it. Do more that you experiment the easier it will be. Thanks for watching 😊
Great video! Can I use plain flower to replace baking powder?
I haven't tried plain flour but you can experiment with a small amount and see :)
Thank you, I will try. :)
You're welcome, let me know how it turns out.

Yes, I know about that one as well :)
Hey Sis, im wondering 🤔? Is there any way to make coster molds with this recipe 😮?
Can I use for cement molding or chocolate molding?
I wouldn't use it on anything edible.

MORENA DIY THANK YOU!!
This is great thanks for putting this up! I was wondering If you've tried casting with this type of silicone. Also doe this shrink too much after the first use?
+Anzh Castillo No I haven't tried casting and no I have notices any shrinkage.
What is the oil for? Physical flexibility and a slower cure?
+beingsshepherd Yes, gives it more flexibility and makes it less brittle.
Bevenus Crafts Thank you (I now gather that that's not even a drying oil).
:)
this has been a revelation. thanks! do ya knw if will clear resin turn out clear with this mold?
+cimerboku I haven't tried it with resin just yet but when I do i'll video it.
Hi can you use plaster in these moulds, thanks great idea
+Siobhán Dempsey I honestly don't see why not. Once it dries it should pop right out.
What is the reason for using baking powder ?
Not sure why you using baking powder in that case, other then trying to increase the overall volume of the mold material.

great job !
+Dellar Leflora Thank you!! :)
can I use baby oil OR veg. oil and can I use flour instead of baking powder OR soda??
I think your oil choice would be ok but I wouldn't use flour in place of the cornstarch.
i tried this but my mold is still too soft and is a little sticky, will not dry out, do you think I used too much oil in it? strange yet is the smaller bit I picked out worked well, and made a mold of a small metal skull charm, no problem! perhaps you can only make a certain size mold? the one that didn't work is 6x the size, thanks for posting this great video and good luck getting a new camera
+Marney Smithies Yes it's a trial and error type project just try to add a little oil at a time when making larger molds.
sounds good, I will keep experimenting & having fun
Are the molds flexible? for instance can I make a cup mold with it?
Yes they are very sturdy and flexible.
The 10 people who disliked this video failed Art classes .
+Hope Bland Exactly lol
+Bevenus Crafts wait , the 25 . Smh fuckin haters !
LOL!!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for a nice video

You will have to purchase it online then. I can't recommend anything other than what I used to make my molds. Try Amazon.com

You sure can :)
I didn't see you put in any oil? Maybe I missed it? Have to watch it again. Thanks. Great video! I have tried the caulk in the water method.
So cool, Thanks for sharing!!!
Love Pinterest!

+Lena Webb Right!! lol it's a trial and error type of project. I'm glad that you did not give up on it lol
Can you use these kinds of molds also for making lollipops?
Emilie Demortier I wouldn't recommend using this mold for edible things.
Thank you, I'll try it out.
Can i add some water/ or any liquid to make it smoother? :D
+Nancy White I would not advise using water with this method. You can give it a try if you like as an experiment. I added oil and that made mine pretty smooth.
Water actually accelerates the cure and shortens the working time. Sometimes that's an advantage. It won't make it smoother however.
Love the lips!!! Where did you find the template for that?
I really like it too, when I first saw it I wanted to make a mold from it. It's actually a plastic ring. I think it was from a package Valentines Day Lip Rings. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching :)
what type of soap are you making? I make glycerin soap and was wondering I can pour the hot glycerin into these diy silicone molds? peace
+Marney Smithies I used melt and pour and poured it in immediately with no problems but you can always wait a minute before pouring.
great,tyvm

Tiffany Morris Yeah, it's really cool. Still learning my way around the site lol :) Thanks for watching.
Hi,
Is the mold soft when it is dried?
Thanks!
It's still soft and flexible.
Thank you!
You are welcome :)
Can we use these molds for fondant in cakes
+romana khan No, I would not use it for food. I would just purchase the food grade kind from Michaels. Thanks for asking :)
Thank you!
I never use the white silicone so I'm sure that it's causing the problem. Try it again with the clear silicone.
did you put oil in? cuz that might be it. or is it 100% silicone? clear and white should work the same as long as they're both the same %age
I didn't have baby oil, and saw too late that vegetable oil works too. But I used a sesame body oil, and I was wondering if that could be the issue. It's a really light formula, way lighter than baby oil and most definitely lighter than vege or any food oils. I'm for sure using 100% silicone.

+Bevenus Crafts Thanks so much! I will give that a shot this week, fingers crossed! :D
I use liquid clay and you have to bake it can you bake with these molds
katie moore No, I would never bake these or use for molding anything edible.
Is it as bendy as a normal silicon mold?
Yes it's very flexible.
Thanks for sharing!! It is the first video i see it is used bakink powder? what is the purpose of baking soda?
+Yeny Miluska I have actually used baking powder too, I think any fine powder would work.
Will my resin pieces be shiny?
how much cornstarch n baking powder do I needcup wise
+catherine cortright It's a trial and error type thing. I would start with even amounts of both and go from there.
Is this mold heat sensitive? I want to melt plastic and use one of these type molds. Can I do that or would the heat distort the mold?
Hi I haven't heat tested these molds. I would be really a little concerned about the fumes. If you desire to test it please try it with a toaster oven outside your home so that you won't breath the fumes in.
+Bevenus Crafts I meant soft plastics for fishing baits they don't make much fumes. not like the hard plastic like in kids toys.
I don't know if these molds would stand up to the heat.
Really cool! Thank you!
is the silicon caulk stretchy?
Yeah it's a little stretchy. Thanks for watching :)
does the silicone have to be 100%?
I'm sorry but yes it does for it to work correctly. It's not expensive and is readily available.
what type of silicone that you use?
can I use this for making ice
I wouldn't but you can purchase "Mold Putty" from Michaels, Online or at another craft store for that purpose.
Nice Job .:)
Thank you! :)
You can get one of the guns to squirt it out for about five dollars at Walmart.

Has anyone tried with resin
could I use it for wax melts?
Definitely 😊
Ok thank you
Cut the end of the caulk tube off.....
