when I was 15 I started talking to this new friend of mine. He didn't talk too much, he was an introverted, but when we were chatting I could see that he really put in the effort to know me. One day he said he wanted to share his "secret band" with me, and proceeded to put "Nocturne" by Wild Nothing. (We live in Brazil, so people don't even know this band exists). I feel in love immediately, and we kinda made this our little secret. I'm almost 21 years now, this is my favorite song until this day and I see myself in it. I rather live in dreams with him.

Jack is still my favorite artist and I have a few live uploads on my channel. Could've reworded my original comment but I was only 17 at the time. Anyway, happy listening

This is a live set though. On their albums, they use plenty of vocal doubling + effects and it sounds great!
@JohnnyLongboddi ...love how you're an authority on what an artist should choose to do with their own music. its live. its not supposed to sound exactly like the record. if it did there would be no point in playing live. its also a radio session, which are almost always bare bones. and maybe you've never been on tour, but, generally speaking, independent musicians don't usually have the money (or desire) to hire an entourage of backup singers. lighten up and enjoy the show. or not.

@ustwoinpc I would normally agree with you, cause I love vocal harmonies. Not all bands need it. Wild Nothing reminds me of a lighter version of The Cure, where Smith sings pretty much alone. I would rather say that the lead guitar, and not the rythmn guitar.

The repetitive ecco is sending my thoughts to a certain place in time I sold Ice Cream and donuts on the Cote D'azur in 1981 I was eating Steak Un Fritz looking down the road thinking how my life is going to be like. hello there, from my personal experience the song is quite difficult to sing..it doesnt really allow him to fully use his voice strength..the studio version is polished a lot I think.but my point is that I really like the band the way it is. This song is actually my most favourite song right now =) hello there Wild Nothing!

I like it, but it's very light Depeche Mode. Needs punch, but otherwise pleasant.
Really good job, this is coming from a 43 yr old, whose original influences are from the 80s, good bands, not shoddy ones like. You don't want to sound like Belle and Sebastian too much, too fey...but you have some good influences and a great dreamy sound. Keep it up, lads, you won't be the new Smiths, but that's not going to happen ever, and surely you'd concede that.

I thought his vocals on the studio version SUCKED. Combine that with those stupid flute synths, and I can't listen to it period. This version, however, is damned near perfect. I wish Jack would re-record some stuff from Gemini in the same vein as Nocturne, because the songs really do deserve the best presentation.
