Gardens will vary year to year, but growing your own food is amazing! I do not touch supermarket fruit or tomatoes. They taste so different than my homegrown ones. Homegrown veggies are also so much better than market ones.

My favorite for size is a German tomato, it is kind of a pinkish color and the 2nd one is called Hawaiian Pineapple which is a cross between red and yellow in color. Both get to be a good size fruit. I have been saving both for many yrs.

Hey Gary and Kimba.... how do you differentiate disease from animal/insect consumption? The leaves on some of my tomato plants have holes in the center of the leaf. I haven't seen any grasshoppers, but last year one went to work on my young-potted lime tree leaves...and I do see a pair of lizards run away when I approach my garden..any clues what I'm dealing with and how to address this? My tomato plants are transplants about 6 weeks old, 2-4 feet tall and just beginning to fruit. Thanks Guys
Hello, looks great there. By the way what do you guys recommend to deal with Stink Bugs, the leaf footed bugs. Here in lousiana they are epidemic now. They show up by early May and stay until frost occurs. They devastate tomatoes and reproduce non stop. Any ideas?
My Amish paste tomatoes split no matter what. No rain, on irrigation. Just happens. I cut the weird parts and freeze them anyway for sauce. But I think I won’t grow them again next year.
What do you do when the plants get so tall they’re ready to spill over into your next door neighbor’s yard? I hate cutting off the top of the plant and lose flowers but should I sacrifice flowers to keep the plant smaller?

I'm growing tomatoes in containers. All varieties receive the same amount of time of drip irrigation and fertilizer, but one plant's leaves are curling. The curling seems to be focused at the top of the plant, especially new growth. Anything I can do?

My direct seeded tomatoes mostly failed in my 5b garden which wouldn't be surprising even if it wasn't such a bad spring but a few are starting to do okay. I have about 90 ish days on average left in our growing season. To late for another tiny tim attempt?
That's great that you have a few doing well! Never too late for Tiny Tim, they mature in 60 days or so. To get them off to a quick start, you might want to get seeds stared indoors on a heat mat and grow lights (if you have the set up for it ) This way you can make the most of the warm season you have left. I have trouble eating market veggies and raw veggies. Cooked ones seem perfectly fine. Slightly blanched seems enough, though I love sauteed with garlic and herbs.

There should be plenty of time. Here in SoCal high desert, my tomatoes produce so much more in fall and early winter vs spring, summer.

Do you have any idea how to fight curly top in tomato plant. It's just the top leaves not the older one. And the growth has stunted.

They seem much more sensitive to sun and high temps than my other tomatoes. Try some shade.
