I'm a baker/decorator and that cake pop idea is so cool I never thought of that, normally people make them out of fondant. Thanks for this vid! Loved it
Rosie, you really out did yourself on this cake. WOW!!! I love it!! I will definitely be making this. When I saw the picture of your cake at the end of your video, I instantly knew I am going to place this cake on a large unframed mirror with 3 tapered candles lit in the center to be the centerpiece on my Christmas dessert table.
I see comments suggesting a bunt pan, depends on the pan as you would still need to cut some off. I like how Rosie repurposes items especially as the off cuts were used to make the baubles, nice I will be making this one for sure.
I made this cake for Christmas. Couldn't get the cake balls to cooperate so balled up marshmallows and got a somewhat same effect. It was a hit. Thank you so much for making the video.
I really enjoyed your vid. I’m a soap maker and I’m learning how to pipe onto my soaps and cupcakes. Thank you for a wonderful vid. I’m sure I’ll be able to use these techniques in my soap making.
oh my gosh, how awesome is that! Very cool that you can transfer these tutorials into your soap business :) thanks for the comment. If you have an instagram page for your soaps, I would love to see them! x
So cute. I love the little aqua balls, the color combo is amazing. I was skeptical when you whipped out the yellow buttercream but it really is effective and while time consuming the grass tip does make it really look like pine
I love this idea and would like to try it this year. Is there a cheaper option to get the gold color on the cake balls instead of purchasing luster dust?
+Rosie's Dessert Spot Please what is the recipe butecream , because to you is perfect and uniform , including line does not need anything , again congratulations and greetings from Lima - Peru ( Machupichu ) :)
Rosie how love channel and always follow you. Can we make it in a small size and I don't think I have more than a 8 or 9 max cake. Do you have a playlist with all your recipes as I am a virgin cake maker the same goes for the some of your flowers. Thanks Hun xxx
Cutest cake ever! Rosie how do you make your chocolate so runny to cover cake pops, everytime I try it's not as smooth, and I try microwaving it a lot and I over heat it😩
Hi +beautyydee01, I usually add in some Copha / coconut oil but lately I have also been using regular vegetable oil. It works beautifully! It just takes a little longer to set, but that could be a blessing in disguise. Cake pops tend to expand a little as they sit out at room temp so the vegetable oil will reduce cracking as it expands with it instead of drying and cracking under pressure. I only add enough oil to make my chocolate a comfortable, runny consistency.
Hi Rosie! I'm wondering if you've tried this with a bundt pan and what you would recommend...would the decorations and ornaments slide off a bundt cake since the top is rounded? id imagine leveling the top would give the same effect i think. what do you suggest? thanks!
Hi +Dima Hanania, I haven't actually tried doing thing with a Bundt cake. Although I'd imagine as long as the buttercream is fresh, everything should stick onto it well without falling off :) Maybe try making the cake pop balls a little smaller so they don't weight as much. Let me know how you go! x
This is a great idea for my family Christmas dinner. But I think I'll make mine with a traditional color of Christmas green. It's darker and more vibrant and would make the red and gold pop up even more. Thanks
Use a Creme caramele tin (it is round with hole in the middle) and you save yourself a lot of effort. No need to apply shortening to cake baubles as any Sugarflair dust will colour it nicely and it does not matter what colour chocolate you have underneath.
Hi +grace j, anywhere from 4 to 5 hours. But if you don't add the cake pops on top you knock off a good 40 minutes. and if you don't make the red flowers you can probably knock off another half an hour :)
+Jessy Torres thank you so much Jessy! I have been decorating for a little over 1.5 years. So not too long, but I had a loooot of time on my hands to practice and I literally practiced almost every day. The beauty of being an unemployed full time student (in Psychology. Completely unrelated to baking lol). Just like anything, the first time you do it, you can expect that it might not turn out great. But if you keep going I am positive you will see a huge improvement in your ability and confidence. If you saw my very first cake, you would tell me to stick to Psychology.
Hi.. this cake looks really pretty.. though it takes a lot of effort, u could have used a bundt pan instead n frosted with BC jus like that which makes it more easy.. n above all no wastage of d carved cake pieces too.. this might help some in d future..
+tsun shan Some people don't have a bundt pan (I don't) and am not going to waste $$ to buy just one pan for a one-time thing... so this is a good alternative. I don't mind the mess or the work, as I find cake decorating very therapeutic and soothing...
+ Austin Dayacap Austin I so agree with you. If everything was easy, why bother making it at all? A lot of love goes into everything Rosie makes. I love that she re-purposes a cake pan that most of us already have in our kitchen and that we will use many times.
Damn. I wanted to do a Croquembouche for Christmas but now I'm deciding if I'll do this instead! Gah! Thanks for the "portfolio cake scraper" idea, though! I wouldn't be needing to buy one of those flexible cake scrapers anymore as I have a lot of old portfolios :))
+Austin Dayacap lol, do both ;D and then send me some pictures!! lol. But croquembouche sounds divine. I've tried making one but it flopped big time. I've been too scared to try it again, but I should face my fears lol. If you're keen on sharing though I really would love to see some pics of your Christmas creations this year :D
Rosie's Dessert Spot What happened with the croquembouche? Admittedly, I haven't attempted a croquembouche before but I've worked separately with caramel and cream puffs a lot before... I would love to send a pic to you for this Christmas! If time allows it, I might do this cake, too! ^_^
I am literally sitting here amazed at how you made such a beautiful, creative cake with such simple tools. I actually think I can make this. Thanks!
love how there is no waste! all cake was used! very nice!
+Danielle Valentin thank you ;D

Stunning, very clever and calm tutorial..
I love the details on the cake
I see comments suggesting a bunt pan, depends on the pan as you would still need to cut some off. I like how Rosie repurposes items especially as the off cuts were used to make the baubles, nice I will be making this one for sure.
Looks elegant, just like the rest of your amazing creations! You are great at what you do, Rosie!

I was looking for some amazing cake to make this year, I think I found it ;) Thank you
Great job! Love it, was wondering if maybe you thought of using a bundt pan so you dont have to do all the cutting and rounding? Just a thought
thanks lovely! I didn't have one, but that would be a brilliant way to do it too :) X
I love this idea and would like to try it this year. Is there a cheaper option to get the gold color on the cake balls instead of purchasing luster dust?
you could always try your luck with airbrushing the cake pops instead :) otherwise the dust is probably the easiest option.
Ok. I don't have an airbrush, so I guess the luster dust is it! Thanks. :-)

Really surprised me!! I though: she is missing cake! but the idea of golden cake pops was amazing.
lol thanks +diamante600. You can always make a smaller cut in the centre, maybe a 4 inch instead, conserve even more cake. xx
Love this, hope to make it for Christmas. Thank you for sharing

What kind of buttercream are you using?
Hi +Dulce Mar, I am using American buttercream (butter, icing sugar, vanilla and milk are the ingredients for this one)
why don't u use a bund t cake pan so u don't have to waste all the cake and so u don't have to use a lot of frosting
Ashley Du
Ashley Du true I thought so too? Re the cut out cake she repurposed it to make the baubles?
Stunning!
+Susie LaLonde thank you!!
You are so welcome.
Lovely cake
thank you! :)
Hello from Peru ( tell me how do the butercream , which is hard , and does not spill on some of your projects you use fondant , congratulations
Hi Rosie..May i know the chocolate cake recipe you use here..Thank you😊
I love the designs but i always wonder, is the cake really dense or almost stale to stay that hard when carving?
A beautiful cake by a beautiful woman 💗
Hermoso gracias por su tiempo
wouldn't a bundt cake pan be much easier 😕
TAlkIN aN' CookiN yep that's what I thought too? 😕
TAlkIN aN' CookiN But, then you couldn't make those super clever cake pop baubles! :)
I bet you can still make it especially with chocalate and cake pop pan
well you'd still half to trim the cake so you could really just use the trimmings

+Jalapeno Cheese thank you ;D

+Jessy Torres thank you so much Jessy! I have been decorating for a little over 1.5 years. Can I use a bundt pan for this ??
Hi +Caryn Corredor, yes you can. It will likely be a little taller though, but you can always trim off the top.
+Rosie's Dessert Spot ok thanks
wow..juz amazing..
+Sue Happy thank you so much Sue! xx
