@@ggmode9819 You are wrong, Tourniquet was neither intended nor meant to be a Christian song, it is dedicated to a girl who committed suicide, the lyrics were written on paper, supposedly her last words. The song's lyrics are about a young woman who is struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. She feels like she is trapped in a dark place and that there is no way out. "Am I too lost to be saved", "Do you remember me, lost for so long", "Will you be on the other side, will you forget me?" I feel these questions deeply in my being/existence, that's why this melody resonates for all of us who are trying to understand life beyond us.
thats really weird that they just barely uploaded this 45 minutes before this comment. I havent heard this song in honnestly 20 years and suddenly had it in my head, I then looked it up to find they just posted this.
Man this remaster really hit the nail on the head. Made the audio nice and crisp but it didnt lose any of that raw heavy edge that made fallen such an awesme album

Tourniquet My suicide
I only realized the last few days the “you” is You. Hits me in such a different way even tho it was obvious the entire time. Powerful stuff from the greatest.
I will never understand how suicide is a "sin". It's the last resort of so many people in incredible pain. If heaven exist, and if that person was good all their life and the only sin they've committed was ending themselves, they should be allowed in heaven.
@@marianadamelioIt's because according to christianism, it's as if God gave you the gift of life, and you decided to throw it away. But I agree with you, many people that didn't deserve hell must have went there through suicide, which is really sad. So we should always try to find happiness in life despite our situation, because "killing the pain" will just make it worse. And even if you aren't a christian, there are always people that care about you and great things that can only be felt while alive.
I only heard some stuff beyond their first two albums on streaming audio like last year. I love this song also. maybe I'm too early 2000's edgy, I feel I never grew out of that era I will always have a silent chuckle at the fact that amy is the split image of the female lead for an early 2000's quite Nietzsche anime series, Ergo Proxy. you can't tell me Amy didn't star in a literal cartoon
This is my favorite Evanescence song, bar none. So underrated. Everyone turned away from them when the biblical ties started to come in heavier, but I truly don’t mind… and where I am now is much different spiritually than when I first began to enjoy this song. I didn’t believe in god, I loved this song. I do believe in god, I still love this song. Masterpiece.
Yeah, I more or less don’t believe in god like I did when I was younger. For me, it’s that I long for the grave and think about dying every day. The only thing is I don’t know what will happen when I die. I don’t fear it at all…obviously. I just don’t know what will happen when I do. I don’t think life is at all what I was led to believe. The funny thing is, I can state with absolute certainty that the Christian god does not exist but I still love the song. So yeah…I am like the other commenter…I don’t believe in the Bible but that doesn’t take away from the song at all.
I hope everyone here is doing okay these days. Please be safe and know that people care about you, even if it may not feel like it at times. If you are feeling troubled, maybe professional help is the answer, or talking to a trusted friend about what you are going through. Wish you all the best.
This song is about a girl who attempted suicide and is now asking God to forgive her. It brings up the question of whether or not you can enter heaven if you take your own life. A tourniquet is a device used to stop bleeding, usually by choking off an artery so the blood can't flow out. In the song, God is the tourniquet.
Still can't believe how come this song never had a music video, same for my last breath. That album was an absolute masterpiece.
well this song is kind of a christian song, back then, mainstream rock culture does not really like christian thingy
There was one made for this song

@nikolasd7387 pretty much the whole album really. It always seemed like it was telling a story of fighting depression, unaliving, and the afterlife

Don't have to worry about it if you don't believe. Also this song is pretty old it doesn't need an explanation we already know what it's about 😂
