watching hockers interview it sounds like coopers using the 1500 to build his top end speed for the 5k, and hockers using the 5k for 1500 endurance…they both know their strengths, just helping push each other along the way
I feel like he’s unfortunately taken a step back from when he was in college. He’s ran 3:50 in the mile twice like 3 years ago. Not sure why he didn’t keep progressing.
I don’t know if he has the foot speed to run the 1500 especially in this age of the 1500 where you need to be able to kick in fast races to do anything
@@jp05598 The top 3 at the trials are all sub 3:50 milers. Nuguse is the 4th fastest miler of all time 3:44+. 3:50 is pedestrian at the World Class level circa 2024.
I believe that if he really committed to his speed and tactics that he can be a world contender in the 1500 although from what he’s shown, this dood is built for the 5. Definitely rooting for this guy and really want him to go to Paris in the 5! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Love Cooper but I think he needs to race some more 800m’s if he wants to be a more competitive 1500m runner. 1500m runners nowadays have 1:45 800m speed or faster.
He’s just too nice a guy! You can’t be nice in a 1500m it’s just too fast and cutthroat. There’s a reason Kerr and Ingabrigsen have the personalities they do….They are out for blood every time they step on the track.
@@EllingtonCarthan Hicham El Guerrouj the World Record Holder never ran a 1:45 or faster, Bernard Lagat the second fastest @1500M runner of all time never ran 1:45 or faster, Jakob Ing the defending Olympic Champion and #1 ranked 1500M runner in the world has never run 1:45 or faster, Yared Nuguse Americas fastest miler and number 2 at the trials has never run 1:45 or faster. Yeah, hopefully it is a wake up call for Teare…dude, you don’t have the type of gears to be a championship 1500M runner. The 5000M is his event. He has a shot to make the 5000M Team.
He is a good racer in events suited for him. His hubris in regard to the 1500M has been a downfall thus far. The world class 5K pool is full of great runners who aren’t going to have the wheels for the 1500M, Teare falls into that category. Teare is built for the grind, his spectrum doesn’t put him in the class of runners to ever be competitive on the World Stage @1500M. The top 3 at this year’s trials are all suited for the 1500M, there were no surprises on who made the team.
He’s a better 5k runner imo
Yea.. he should just lock in and completely focus on the 5k
I agree. I think it’s becoming clear now that 5k is best for him.

Hope so but the 5 k is stacked
Teare's always getting boxed in, tripped, etc. in these 1500m races. He has a good chance in the 5000m though.
Yea i know. I don't know how Jakob, Hocker, Kerr all manage to place top 5 ....consistently
