  • A Cooperstown, North Dakota, mother frantically called 911 when she couldn't find her 3-year-old boy, who had been playing on their farm. She also noticed the family dog was missing.Authorities searched for them overnight Monday. CNN affiliate WDAY reports that a fireman on an ATV spotted the dog standing over the boy, who was asleep. Cooper the dog was protecting him from the cold and rain. And there's one other twist to the story -- watch and see. For more information please visit www.hlntv.com/video/2014/05/07...

    Incompetent parents allowing a three year old to wander around the farm alone.

      ibetyoucanthack1123 well then that makes it fine because we all know there is nothing dangerous in North Dakota and dogs are quite capable of taking care of a child. That's why you see so many ads for dogs and babysitting.

      The thing that bothers me most about this is that it sounds like she wasn't even periodically checking up on him. In some situations I feel like it would be okay to let a kid play outside alone for a bit, depending on location and the behavior/maturity of the kid. But it sort of makes me sad that she was just waiting for him to come in on his own and she didn't think to check on him until it was nearing dark.

    I was raised on an 8000 acre farm, and it was not unusual for mr to wonder all over the farm. I had my dog Butch, half GSD and half wolf, my mom did not worry about me as long as Butch was with me. I would roam through the woods, make houses out of a growth of bamboo, use things I found to use to play with in my pretend house. Butch was trained to bring me home when the sun started to go down, even if I didn't want to. He would grab my pants and start pulling, bark a couple of times, then started out in front of me, always checking back to make sure I was close to him. Dogs are smarter than people give them credit for. Big dogs want a job to do, and I was Butch's job.

      My grandmother was Pennsylvania dutch and was raised on the farm her grandparents built. It was 300 acres, but was completely surrounded by the farms of relatives. There is no way her mother would let her roam around by herself at 3! I was a country kid, too, and my mother would never have allowed it. Why? Because 3 is just a baby! And that’s no judgment on the dog, my big sisters were German Shepherds and they were unbelievable. But 3 is still a baby. How full was that diaper? How long had he gone without food or water? Were his feet wet? Most people don’t have the physical ability to retain memories at 3! But you are okay just delegating motherhood to a dog 🥴

      I agree,as I raised all three of my kids in the British Columbia Bush, and believe me they were not out of sight ever. I don't know what's wrong with these people, but they don't look very smart, so I hope their child can help them later in life to get through what's left of theirs.

    I was doing a home visit very late in the day in late fall and noticed a puppy running underneath cars, wondering if someone would arrive to take him. After 30 minutes of waiting, I decided to take him with me. The dog and I finished the rest of our home visits together. My parents eventually kept him since I wasn't allowed to have an animal at my place. The dog is as happy as it can be and so am I.

      He was off to Mexico after the mother found his stash of cocaine. She threatened to go to the cops. He couldn't go back to jail. This was his third strike, they'd lock him up and throw away the key. Since she was his mother he couldn't bring himself to kill her so he did what needed to be done. He fled and didn't look back once. He knew his best friend would always seem him through no matter what, so he didn't care for what his new life on the run would bring. At this point the mother was waiting at home, horrified at what she had just done. She had driven her only son away. After a wait which seemed to go on forever, she frantically picked up the phone to report him missing. She had attempted to ring her son's mobile several times to apologize and tell him she wasn't going to police about the drugs - but all of the calls went unanswered by her now exhausted son. The police quickly caught up with him, and thinking it was the end, he fell to his knees. Police with drawn guns approached the boy as his dog looked to him. "You and me. We've been through some crazy shit together, haven't we?", said the dog. "If we go, we go out together."
      The dog now shielding the boy from the drawn weapons leaned in...
      .. and the two shared what might have been their final kiss together.....

      And that is why this country is a pussified as it is today. Our moms never knew where we were. One time when I was 7 we were caught in a big dust storm about 10 miles from home on our bicycles. My 3 friends all had tickets for driving without a license before they were 7 years old. We would hike out in the field several miles and camp, then hike back the next day. No one over 10 years old was ever around back in those days. I never knew anyone that even got hurt, except for maybe a scrape on the leg or arm or something.

    • @lilolme69

      @@britt0890 1st of all, you should learn comprehension because I did not say I had a ticket before I was 7, my 3 friends (they were all brothers and I don't mean black 🤣 ) had a ticket before they were 7. I've been driving since I was 5 and never had a ticket until I was 18. From the time I was 10-15 I went driving out on the dirt roads for 2-6 hours every Saturday with my friend Larry. The reason I lost you is because like I said, you and the rest of the country are pussified. I think about everyone in school was driving before they were 10 years old; I'm 57 now... this was back in the 1970's when people were real and didn't worry about hurting someone else's feelings. We had more of a brain at 7 than people do nowadays from 18-40.

      I know this comment is 6 years ago, may never see. But obviously, you do not live out in the country. Kids can get away quick and far before you know it. It only takes a few minutes. Especially if you are on a working farm. Kids can go from month to month with never venturing far and you start trusting that to just one day they up and decide to go far. Had the same thing happen to me when my twins were about the same age. Thankfully they stuck to a trail and our dog started barking when they got too far.

    Every kid should have a dog. I got my first dog, who she's no longer with us, when I was about two. Some family frinds had to move, but couldn't bring their dog with them, which is sad, but they gave her to us. My mom told me that while I was still in a crib, if I woke up crying, that she'd go get my mom or did if they didn't wake up. Her name was Loxie, and she was a Golden Shepard. She lived for 15 years, and she went from Texas to South Carolina, where we had to put her down. She kept going for us while we were moving, and she passed knowing we were safe and that she had been the greatest dog ever. I really miss her, it's been about 4 years now.
    Rest in peace, Loxie.

She knew I wasn't supposed to be doing what I was doing and helped keep me safe. The intuition and protectiveness of dogs is truly amazing. People in defense of eating dogs in China say "Hey eating a dog is no different than eating a pig or cow. Some people have them as pets just like dogs." Lets see a pig or cow protect a child. These are beautiful and special creatures and don't deserve to be killed and eaten.

    • @GEOSTORM2K
      @GEOSTORM2K 9 років тому +14

      Actually there have been cases of pigs being guard pigs on farms. Just letting you know. And in India killing and eating a cow is bad so just because in your culture eating dog is wrong don't attack another cultures meat choices cause they can attack yours the same way.

    • @PanzerBlitz43

      Geo Storm I do attack China and most corrupt and greedy Asian countries with no hesitation. They have no "culture" or any kind of civilization in their barbaric countries, they destroy everything around them with massive pollution for their insane greed, they poach all wildlife, including the nearly extinct wildlife of Africa and they kidnap and torture dogs and other pets. Those are crimes, so don't help them point their bloody fingers at the massive abuse of livestock by other countries, as if those things excused them. If you encourage those type of crimes, I'd gladly spare a dog's valuable life to serve you up as first course for those Asia terrorists' breakfast. Never, never do that again.

    • @GEOSTORM2K
      @GEOSTORM2K 9 років тому +4

      ***** The pig I was speaking of is in the U.S. and I'm just pointing out the intelligence of the animal and cultural differences not political views cause they have nothing to do with the subject at hand. So yes I still stick by what I said before, just because their culinary choices don't agree with you does not make them any less "civilized" than you are. So on this subject I think we should just agree to disagree.

    • @PanzerBlitz43
      @PanzerBlitz43 9 років тому +1

      Geo Storm So the choices of Germans to gas millions in concentration camps under Hitler, according to you was an excusable "cultural difference", and the choices of cannibals to eat people after practicing some of their torture culture before boiling them alive is a minor "culinary difference" and not a moral problem, therefore that's all fine and dandy in your deranged mind. You have serious issues, and I hope you don't own any guns or sharp objects.

    • @GEOSTORM2K
      @GEOSTORM2K 9 років тому +5

      ***** What Hitler did was not a cultural thing it was a political thing. The two are not the same thing but for some reason you are confusing the two. Furthermore, I'm still not understanding what this has to do with a smart pig and people's culinary choices. Again, agree to disagree cause you are reading way too far into someone's eating habits equaling political views cause they are not the same and yes I do own sharp objects and guns but I don't see what that has to do with a pig being as smart as a dog and people eating pigs and dogs along with other animals though out the world.

      Why are you only blaming the mother and not the father? He has equal responsibility over his child.

      Look around the video, they live in a rural area, not another house in sight, the boy was outside playing & likely just wondered off, chasing a butterfly or something then got confused & didn’t know how to get back home...
      Sure no malice or intention to harm by the parents!

      80% of firefighters are volunteers, so no it's not really their job they chose too do it.
