I've been going through a lot lately. And I don't know why but whenever I see your videos it just makes me calm and make me forget everything. Your soothing voice and a bit of humour makes my day. Don't stop making videos. Keep going. God bless you ❤❤.
Talking about Lake District villages and hamlets makes me think of the trip from the M6 J36 down the A590/591. All those just off to one side, cut through Ings, out to Windermere, Troutbeck Bridge, and off to Ambleside. Definitely a fan of that aesthetic 👌
We need speed cameras and 40mph limits to replicate ings! I got real A66 Penrith to Keswick vibes with the dual carriageway crossings. Need some slow tractors for the cims to get stuck behind!
I´d love to keep that small industry next to the city! I kinda gives some old school harbor, traiding and prodcution vibes - like this used to be the old port and they expanded it on the other side of the river after it was no longer big enough
So nice! It is funny how having Cities Skylines content is just kind of part of this channel, while it is actually so new and special and we waited so much for it. It is a testament to your ability, OE!
I'd really like a version of that "lane" that had national speed limit and no lights but still with zoning (otherwise it'd just be the "national" road). Currently building on the same map for my first city... got some interesting challenges with the terrain in places. Railways take a fair bit of use of the terrain tools! Suggested name for any settlement you build near the mouth of one of the rivers, just to keep the Scottish theme: Inveregg... Oh, and props for building the M8/M9 junction just outside Edinburgh... nice.
Great build today OE! I hope i can get CS2 working on my computer to get a good try of it. Really big fan of that new interchange and the view from 6:45 is amazing. For the old industry that might be a great spot to put the college- it reminds me of a college down in south jersey with the landscape and views. Keep it rocking 🤙
Great video! Ngl, one of my favorite bits was the check-in with the Patreon Egginburghers. It's like catching up on our favorite Scottish soap characters, lol.
One of my favorite series of books is called All Creatures Great and Small, and this reminds me of that landscape, with the meandering roads with farms and hamlets.I love it.
I have to agree with you on the farms. With the exception of the buildings popping up in the fields, it's a fantastic addition to the game. Loads better than CS1! And the Lake District? absolutely gorgeous place to visit.
Some quick ideas 1. New use for the industrial area, when it moves across the river. Turn the land into the college. Its riverside setting would suit the aesthetic of college campus, and may suffer less from any residual pollution than if it were turned over to residential. 2. Place a small fire station in Caleb. It looks like a church, so would not look out of place on the village green. It would also prove useful as you place more forestry and rural industry in the area. 3. If you haven't already done so off camera please replace the pedestrian footbridge you removed to install the highway access in the town centre. Really liking the design you are doing here.🥕🥕🥕
Love the rural stuff. I def feel CS2 makes it much easier than CS1 ever did especially w/traffic and things of that nature. Loving this city so much already. Can't wait to see it covered in snow :)
Pretty. And you're quite fluent with the tools. The interchange is a tad oversized though, isn't it? Nice to see someone going for smaller lot sizes - these could also help not only with aesthetics but the rent too high issues most likely.
Personally, I use two-way highway roads for my country roads. Here in Germany at least, the standard speed limit on country roads is 100km/h. Sometimes limited to 80 or 70km/h. So I think the highway roads are appropiate.
Great series thus far! I just started playing Cities...haven't played a city build game since simcity lol so a bit of a learning curve on how everything works and functions! Probably got around 30ish hours in since playing this game, never knew it even existed until coming across a live on tiktok 😂
"oh well, that's natural selection i suppose" :D :D :D that killed me. really enjoying this build so far, thanks! getting lots of inspo for my own game. :)
i think along the waterfont, a park along the banks with some apartment blocks behind them on the lower level would look fantastic, you do see a lot of apartment buildings along canals and such in the uk so i think it would fit nicely
Great build as always, I'm hopeful for hedge fencing soon and a mod that will allow people to build "dummy fields" allowing you to make rural builds look even better.
is there a way i can use 2 keyboard keys for lowering or higher roads when dragging them? i don't like the optional mouse drag option, i accidentally use that one to mutch. also the junction at 19:50 needs a no right sign on it. and only straight on for the smaller road.
Naww, thanks for the cim! Basic, entry level, buggy Cities 2 (with no assets for detailing) looks much better than middling when you're at the helm. With a bit of time I'm sure you'll make it awesome, and we'll all enjoy the ride.
Enjoying the new build! The road tools look amazing, I’m a console pleb so this is a vibe right now especially. Watched your IGN sponsored ad at the beginning, you are moving up in the World Egg !
Does CS2 have the feature where you can go down into your city as a cim like in the first game? One of my favorite things to do in the endgame was to walk from one side of my city to the other and watch everything happen around me.
The frost on the ground looks very cool (shame some of the other snow mechanics aren’t as good). Just loving the massive farms! It looks like you missed one turning direction on the original violet junction (the one you upgraded to highway roads)
Regarding the industry along the coastline.. let's replace that with a small ring road kind of road along the peninsula on another lower layer and have some mixed use between the two? Maybe replace it with leisure/tourism specializations once and if that mechanic returns to the game!
Really Great Video! Given the name of the area you have chosen it after from good old Scotland it needs a Castle up on high looking over the landscape. 😁
Love the country side stuff man. Especially the use of the tree brush to outline fields. I saw Silvarret do it for his St Luke build, but it looked way more tedious that this.
Love the city so far! Not sure I’ve seen any of my favorite creators play the game in the new style I believe the developers were intending. With the size of the map, ability to create grids quickly, easy milestoning, and surplus money.. I think you are meant to setup large communities earlier than CS1. Nobody that I’ve watched has a population above 40k and the commercial sectors suffer because they expect a larger customer base. Over zoning of commercial and office is happening a lot also. One 4x4 office zone saps a full bar of demand instantly. Overly educated sims are also a problem I’ve seen connected to the way the simulation worked in CS1. With a welfare office and homelessness as an option, low wealth with a lack of services and leisure is necessary for the simulation to function properly. Connecting to the outside is to encourage you to move further faster, larger assets mean go bigger earlier than you normally would. I think detailing options being limited early was to encourage you NOT to micromanage small towns and GROW. Again, love watching the creativity of everyone.
Looks amazing Egg, as always! I can only hope someday I'll be able to build cities as nice (and functional) as you and other favorite creators. As long as you keep putting these out, I'll certainly keep watching them! Thank you!
After watching a few city builders use the new version, the biggest difference seems to me that their cities and citizens do better when the builder responds to concerns about education, healthcare, crime and the like. In the first version people could build a good looking city that made money while pretty much ignoring citizens' needs. That doesn't seem to be the case in C:S2 as several factors are much more interdependent on each other.
10:10 the asymmetrical lane is the wrong way same thing at 14:00, the slip lane is on the left instead of the right - the existing lane on the highway has to merge into the middle lane, while the right hand slip lane continues as the new main lane (this would cause drivers who were already in the right hand lane to change lanes just to keep on the right) btw i hope i'm not being annoying with these nitpicks, just that the builds are so beautiful already it's a shame to have a couple of minor mistakes detract from it
As a side note, I would name hospitals, schools, colleges, police stations etc. after your patreons as the don’t tend to die or disappear!!! Airport and University gives the option to reward top tier… just a thought
After about 15 hours, I had to go back to the first game. C:S2 is just too broken and too bare bones for me right now. Maybe with some DLCs and a bunch of patches... Still, already looking forward to the next episode! Love your build!
I wonder if people are being forced to walk all the way from Caleb because there's no parking on those little roads. Might make sense to expand into regular streets at least through the center of town so they can park there, or maybe stick a lot or two around the back of the row houses? As for the farms, I think they ought to just change the ground texture for the different types, maybe the veg farm ought to be darker plowed earth and the livestock farm just bare dirt.
I think it would be nice to replace the industrial area with parks, dog parks, and play areas. Mixed in with some wood land. Possibly a special building like the London eye to add a feature. 🙏
Oh it seems so easy when you building. I wish I can get my computer work with CS2 soon rhigt now it shows 4fps so its tuff to do anyhing then close it down an cry a bit.

I want to move away from factories for my industry, but my map so far doesn't have too much farmland.
I beleive you are correct. When looking at your specialised industry, it should say whether it requires anything for it to be productive. When I looked the other day, I seem to remember it didn't need fertile land.
So, like OE, I've not liked the construction crane thing animation especially in comparison to the first game. But I'm stupidly coming around on it after watching a driving video from Austria to Italy last night and when they go through northern Italy in all these small towns, those cranes are EVERYWHERE building standard single family homes. Small villagers just WANT the gub-ment to. " JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE!!"

That, and they’re hella expensive as well.
