I just finished up all of my college apps and I can not tell you enough how important getting it done EARLY is! Start your essays and everything in August and September even if they aren’t due until January. It will save you SO much stress and prevent procrastination as the school year gets more intense. Also, it is really important to make a spread sheet early of the schools you want to apply to with dates and information about the school so you don’t miss anything as life gets hectic closer to due dates :)
Yessss I made a college planner over the summer and it’s soo surprising how many of my *senior* friends are just now asking me to send photos of it to them!
Omg I'm so glad you posted this. 2018 was a really hard year for me, and I want 2019 to be much better. I want to prioratize more, and not have to pull all nighters all the time. Thanks for posting this💕💕💕

Hi! I loved your video. I'm a freshman in college now, so I started applications for university and scholarships a little over a year ago. My advice is to save every essay, short answer, and resume you do. Most applications are very similar and ask the same questions. It saves so much time to already have something written that you just need to tweak to fit the word count of question more accurately. Enjoy being a senior next year! College Apps were my biggest stresser, so if you get them done early all you have to do is schoolwork and have fun! It goes by quick and soon enough you'll be done!
Totally going to use this as my buju inspo! As for college applications and common app, I cannot stress enough how important it is to get everything done early. Write all your essays in the summer and when school is starting back up, tour your schools in the first couple months of school, have a good idea of where you want to go by October or November and I believe the Early Action decision is the second or third friday in december. A lot of this info you can find online and if you’re touring colleges you’ll make tons of friends along the way who will keep you updated! Best of luck with your admissions decisions!
We're the same age and I totally get you. This year I decided to change myself and finally start using a bullet journal. Your video has given me a lot of ideas, so thank you.
I like the simplicity of your bullet journals, it's very soothing to the eye. I started doing something similar to the "year in pixels" that you do. I kind of wanted to make a mood tracker, but didn't see it all that helpful or needed, so I skipped it this year. I really liked your version of it, it's fun looking back and seeing how you felt throughout the year. Thanks for sharing!
I just got accepted into college and I highly recommend applying early!!!! So much stress was lifted off of me when I submitted everything early and now I can focus on the rest of my senior year because I know my second semester is going to be stressful lol. I didn't have much experience with writing lots of essays since I only wrote one for the Common App but I just REALLY recommend applying early. It's also really helpful to go to the colleges too and get a tour and see if you like the campus and the area and can just imagine yourself happily living there. Good luck to everyone out there!
Please please please don't put all your eggs into one basket. Apply to multiple schools so that you have cushion. Take into account distance, cost, whether you want it to be a big school or a mid sized or small. Think about public or private. If you have a car, look to see if freshmen can have their cars and how much a parking permit cost. Look into their clubs and sororities. Check their academics, especially if you do not know what you want to major in. I cannot stress research enough. It is very important to look at every single aspect when applying to a school. Hope this helps 🤗🤗

Great video! I'm almost finished with my college apps and, like many other people who have commented, the bets advice is DO IT EARLY! Especially over the summer, because that will save you a lot of time and stress later. Even if you don't know where to start, there are lots of resources to help you. Another tip I have is: look up and write down all financial-aid-related dates. Those are very important.
I'm in IB as well as a Junior. It's so amazing to watch your videos b/c sometimes I feel like our lives just seem so similar. Please keep making these videos. ❤️
Not sure if someone has said it already, but I’m a college student right now and when I applied the most common deadline (for regular application anyway) was December 15th. Some were earlier and some were later, but that was when most of my applications were due! If you want to do early action/decision, those are usually due in October/early November. Good luck! Your organization will help you a ton in college, I’ve just started my first bullet journal and it’s a godsend.
soOOooO you’re becoming a senior. Some advice that you probably already were given but just in case is: - Start college essays at least an outline UCs which I assume you’re applying to have the insights up ! Also Cal States for EOP ! - When you do get accepted instead of sending individual AP test scores (costs $10 to send each test) send them all at once for your final AP tests and it’s free - Get FAFSA done !! It only takes like 2 hours I swear - Don’t procrastinate, most seniors stop trying because they already sent applications but DONT do that. They usually drop in rank, GPA drops which affects the Cal Grants (GPA based money given) and more. - Have some fun too okay please I didn’t and regret it a lil - Connect with your teachers, senior teachers are usually hecka cool
I'm a college freshman, so I was just doing this last year. I wasn't able to apply until the last minute of some of the latest deadlines. Part of that had to do with being diagnosed with epilepsy at the end of August senior year. Life lesson: give yourself time, and account for any surprises, fortunate or unfortunate. We delayed retaking the SAT until December. I believed my mother had reserved, as she usually does, but then I was studying on Thanksgiving break and she told me she forgot and missed the late deadline. Life lesson: sign up for things yourself. If you need a given parental unit's credit card, just talk to them. Also, write your essays by yourself first, so it's your voice and no one else's, and then get people, like family and/or friends to check it. Don't be afraid of critical feedback. Good luck! I hope you get into your dream school!
Don't stress about your college essay it will just come to you. Also start the common app 2 months before your first deadline. This not only allowed me to work when I wanted but also gave me the satisfaction of knowing that wouldn't have to rush when my deadlines approached.
For dates, I’d be aware of November 1 for early deadlines and try to get all of your applications done by December 1, it makes the winter a lot less stressful. Also it may be helpful to outline an application every weekend and keep track of it in your journal based on each school’s deadline. That’s what has worked for me. Great video!
college application tips! 1. please don’t forget financial aid/scholarship deadlines for your schools! they’re often different than final deadlines for applying and can be easy to miss, so make sure you pay attention to those 2. if your school has a rule like mine where you have to turn in your transcript release form 10 school days before your college’s deadline, count it out ahead of time!! i almost missed my top school’s deadline because i forgot about winter break. thank god my friend reminded me or i would not have been able to apply to some of my schools 3. meet with your guidance counselor often! they can check over your common app, make sure you’re going in the right direction, remind you of deadlines, etc 4. if you continue to take challenging classes in your senior year, do not underestimate the amount of work you’ll have to do and the amount of time you’ll have to do it! i severely overestimated the extra time i would have to complete my applications and i barely finished them in time. i had originally wanted them done in mid october, and ended up finishing in december. set times aside where you specifically work on your applications for maybe one hour a day, for example. good luck with your applications!! i hope they all go well!! don’t make the same mistakes that i did lol
for college applications i recommend writing your essays and starting to apply in the summer before your senior year because usually july/august is when colleges open early admissions. i did this and heard back from colleges before some of my friends evan started their applications.
Common app opening and deadline are both very important and also FAFSA. As for the other deadlines, it'll be a lot easier once you decide which schools you are applying to. It's super important that you start as early as possible for your common app essay and any other writing (some schools ask for other personal statements depending on the school and program/major you're applying for). Another thing to add later are open house dates. Good luck!
good luck with all of your things in the new year! I know college apps can be scary, but as a first year in college now, I can tell you that all of the stress is worth it! keep journaling, it's the main thing that's kept me sane so far :)
A major thing I would say to pay close attention to for college is dates for financial aid! It can be super super stressful to find out about a date short notice. Definitely would recommend getting stuff done for financial aid as early as possible
For college applications and decision making, I would definitely suggest you start doing your research on which colleges interest you and offer a major of your interest before your summer starts. This way you can plan way ahead of time which colleges you want to tour over summer and what dates they have that work for you to visit. I know a lot of colleges start accepting early applications as early as August so I would recommend filling out the Common App right away in July so you're able to enjoy your senior year and reduce any added stress. Another thing a lot of colleges do/have is the 'first come first serve' style for roommate in your freshman dorm, so when you have an idea of your top choices for colleges I would make sure to get your housing/dorm deposit in as soon as you can and if you have an idea of who you want to room with, make sure they get their deposit paid too; if one person pays in In early fall and the other doesn't pay until spring, they would go based off the person who pays in Spring. ALSO, if you haven't already I definitely recommend taking the ACT or SAT, wherever you live, more than once! Most people who take the ACT a second time score at least one point higher and even though the tests are not fun, just a point or two higher can actually get you a lot more money off your tuition! Definitely worth the money and time spent studying!
i’m currently a senior and you should definitely know the FASFA deadline and know that usually May 1 is decision making day if you haven’t already decided which college to go to. i recommend using college board when looking into any colleges or even future careers it’s very helpful.
Some application tips is to definitely ask for teacher recommendations by the end of this school year bc they’re super busy in the beginning of the year. Some important dates for applying is November 15 (early action 1 or early decision 1) and December 15 (early action 2 or early decision 2 or rolling admission) and then January 1 or 15. Those were big dates for me and most people I knew but it really depends on the school. Another thing is try to crank that essay out before school starts because you’ll be loaded with homework or senioritis and procrastinate.... good luck! I’m just getting responses from schools now so
College tip. Know the deadlines to get everything in for your apps. Even if you are undecided on schools yet, apply for a few of them. If one does not work out you always need a backup. Once you get accepted you then need to know all of the deadlines for scheduling your classes, advising, and payments. If you plan on applying for scholarships or FAFSA know those deadlines too! Some scholarships start the spring before a fall semester.
ahh this gets me so motivated for next year!! weird story, i had logged on to my abandoned tumblr of two years as I was curious whether it had survived the mass flagging, and apparently i got two thousand notes on a post of my super old eighth grade astronomy notes and apparently you had reblogged it, haha i was really surprised 😅
for college apps- definitely make a list of what schools require official score reports, and when financial aid deadlines are! I also filled out most of my common app in late August (just the basic information that I already knew) and had my personal statement done by late October for early action deadlines. Applying early action to at least one school was a great decision because it forced me to have my whole common application done early. My friends who didn't do any early are stressing tf out about getting their main essay AND supplementals done right now!
I’m a senior so I’ve already been through all the college application stuff. My best tip is fill out all your common app info THE DAY IT OPENS. You will be so ahead and much less stressed. The college application process is so stressful.
Love love love this! As a runner myself I'd be interested in seeing videos about training, both for the half marathon and for the improved mile (yes I paused to check a the year's goals)
With schools you are interested in try to see if they have an early application option. I did that for my school and through most of my senior year (starting around November of my senior year) I already knew I was accepted and took a lot of stress away, I was able to focus on studying for AP exams. Don't be afraid to apply to schools that don't use the common app either.
I CLICKED SO FAST I WAS SO EXCITED!!! Im a kid and i love astronomy so im gonna get a book about it from the library since i finished school. Your vids motivate me so much to study!!
What a coincidence! I just recently ordered that exact same light blue Dingbats journal! I'm super excited to start using it since it's my first Dingbats journal
I would really love to see more of your study with me videos!! I would also like to say thank you for making this channel as you have inspired and motivated me. i really appreciate this 😍😍💕👑👍👍
even though common app opens in August you can usually start your main essay and even look up the schools that you are applying to because some do not change from year to year - make sure you note when the early applications are due and I HIGHLY recommend applying to any school that offers it for Early Action because it's non-commital
Advice about college applications: the sooner you can get them in the better, but be sure you are taking the time you need to write quality essays, etc. Some colleges will take a while to get back to you about acceptance. If you know you want to apply to certain schools, go ahead and start the application process. Hope you have an awesome year! :)
SAT and ACT dates!! It takes about a week or two for colleges to actually accept the scores from College Board so keep the in mind with the application deadlines. Also, Early Action, Early Decision, and Regular Decision deadlines are all different and come with various benefits or disadvantages depending on what you're looking for so definitely look into those. Not sure if your school uses Naviance (ask your counselor) bc it helps a lot with deadlines!!
I am very suprised that you are so "together" as a highschooler and so well spoken. Four decades ago I also ran track in the 880 yd race (now the 800 m) with a best time of 2:08 min, but I tried to run the mile with only a best of 6:02 so I am quite impressed with your speed. Such a nice video you published....will have to check out your others! Merry Christmas!
Love the spreads. Very minimal, cute and practical! Loved watching this. You should try a journal that has more white paper so the correction tape won’t show much! Looking forward for monthly plans! x
Love your spreads, actually may change my set up plans a bit. Also, when applying to colleges, aim for the early application date while knowing full well that if you don't meet it, it's fine. I did and still applied on all of the regular decision dates, but seeing that earlier dead line helped me out a lot with getting letters of recommendation from people and beginning essays and planning meetings and SATs. By the time the early application deadlines rolled around I was just kind of revising my essays and waiting to talk to a couple of people I had already scheduled meetings with. It made that second halfish of senior year way less stressful than it could have been.
I just finished applying to colleges, and it was definitely a journey full of growth and learning. For dates, be sure to note the following: - FAFSA opens on October 1st (Sometimes, the sooner you submit that, the better. Many documents from your parents are necessary for this process. Also, make sure both you and your parents request a FSA ID about a month in advance to get through it quicker). - You already noted the Common App opening date. You can also use the Coalition. Some schools will only take one, but many will take both. Before you decide on Common, look at all of the schools of which you are applying and then decide which application you want to use primarily. I found that I was able to represent myself on the Coalition better. - For financial aid, many colleges have different deadlines for when to submit Income Tax Receipts and Schedules. You can find the dates on their financial aid websites under links for First Year Applicants. - Start looking for scholarships NOW. Note what scholarships people in the grade above you are applying to and winning. Then, ask them about the application and where and when to apply. I've found that their isn't really a scholarship season, so deadlines are all over the place. Definitely prioritize local scholarships. - Set deadlines for yourself. Ask for Letters of Recommendation in August/September and request to receive them three weeks later. Write your personal statement first in August before school starts. Then, note all of the supplemental materials required and set individual deadlines for each of these sections. - Send official test scores as soon as you decide which sitting you want to submit. Thank you for your great videos!
In terms of dates, there's regular decisions and early actions (which let you know that you've been accepted into the university a lot earlier therefore it means your application is due a lot earlier) so look around and check which universities you want to early action for and mark them down to get a head start
Ooh, I love the east coast! Ofc it depends on what you may study in college, but Virginia has some great ones, like William and Mary, Duke, Southern VA, etc.
Once you do figure out which colleges you're applying to, be sure to not the early decision/early application deadlines. It's stressful to try to get those early app dates in on time, but its so worth it to do at least a few before that deadline. Usually you'll know if you're in by the time your first semester of senior year is over and its like a sigh of relief knowing you've already been accepted to some schools!
Do you recommend restarting a bujo every year or every school year for students? Edit: Dates to be aware of are any dates ur school has on asking councilors for transcripts. My school had dates in place so we knew when to ask for transcripts so they would be in on time for our applications.
Q.A. Denson it’s still Dec 21 in my time zone 😂😂 I’ll be picking later tonight, and winners prob won’t be announced until tomorrow. I’ll add them to the giveaway description box as they respond.
Idk if this is everywhere but here in MN we have a free application week. Since I was put off of applying because of the application fees, this really helped me. I applied for AS MANY colleges as possibly even if I wasn’t really sure if I was interested in that school just so I had a lot of options and it honestly wasn’t hurting me at all.
Decide what schools you want to go to BEFORE you fill out the common app. A lot of the schools that I applied to didn't use the common app (only 1 out of 9), they had a separate school specific application, so I wasted a TON of time filling it out. If I remember correctly, automatic scholarship consideration has a deadline of early November. Good luck applying for everything!! Your journal looks so dang cute, hope it helps keep you organized
I'm a senior in high school this year, and some big dates for me have been October for FAFSA, November 15th as priority application deadlines for college, December 1st as a lot of scholarship deadlines, and January 1st as final application deadlines for college
Look at small colleges because they give more scholarships if that’s an important factor for you. I got into a few top tier but decided to go to a backup because I was able to get a full ride, so I highly recommend applying for a mixture.
Biggest college app advice: finish the common app & most essays before school starts. Its so much easier to just blow through it when it's summer and you're not busy but once school is happening and deadlines are coming it'll be harder & you'll be glad you did it already
FAFSA always opens on October 1st for Financial Aid purposes each school has its deadline on when that has to be filled out by (Usually sometime in January) :)
For college apps DEFINITELY apply as early as possible. Lots of places have early admission and you have a better chance of getting into the college and also qualifying for scholarships. And try writing essays where the prompts overlap between schools so you aren’t writing 1 essay per school. If I could redo my application process I totally would’ve written all my essays over the summer and applied earlier but I didn’t so I was at a disadvantage. It’s also not the end of the world if you don’t get into your “dream school”. I ended up going to my safety school and I qualified for a 4 year scholarship and I’m on track to graduate early. Hope this all helps and good luck! Don’t stress too much!
Most colleges have deadlines in January of the year you want to start. So if you plan on starting college September 2019, you need your application filled & submitted by January 2019. Important dates would be when your ACT/SAT scores will be available for sending out (and when the test is available to take, of course). Once you figure out which colleges you want to apply to, you'll want to know when they have open house and 1st Day at School events.
i’m not applying yet- but sister is and she is having problems now, with the due date being january 1st. this is because she can’t reach any of the schools bc it’s christmas break, or any of her guidance counselors. so just watch out around december and make sure everything is good and in shape and your apps are in before the first week of december (which is probably what i’m going to do)
I'm a senior this year, and for your application dates make sure you right down when FAFSA and CSS profile come out for financial aid. Both are October 1st usually
Most early decisions rang from mid November to beginning of December , I know this year for me my earliest deadline was November 8th , if your not doing early action it’s mostly January to mid February , I suggest early action though it looks better and some colleges will give you money for applying early , but getting as much done on the common app as u can right when it comes out is easier , you should do all of your personal stuff right and away you can continue to add colleges as you go and u can send in applications before those due dates if ur ready, and I suggest also doing the FSFA as soon as it comes out as well it’s a long process; I’m not sure when that comes out but that would be another good date to add to ur calendar
I just finished up all of my college apps and I can not tell you enough how important getting it done EARLY is! Start your essays and everything in August and September even if they aren’t due until January. It will save you SO much stress and prevent procrastination as the school year gets more intense. thanks for the advice!! I'll get started on a spreadsheet right now :D
this is bomb advice. also, a lot of colleges waive application fees if you apply early :)
Yessss I made a college planner over the summer and it’s soo surprising how many of my *senior* friends are just now asking me to send photos of it to them!

Anyone realise that at 6:07 she wrote 'pwm 2018' instead of 2020?
I truly suggest knowing the dates for priority/early applications! Don’t wait until later, that’s honestly my biggest tip!
This video is actually aesthetically pleasing. Good job jasmine 👏🏻
Some advice that you probably already were given but just in case is:
- Start college essays at least an outline UCs which I assume you’re applying to have the insights up ! Also Cal States for EOP !
- When you do get accepted instead of sending individual AP test scores (costs $10 to send each test) send them all at once for your final AP tests and it’s free
- Get FAFSA done !! It only takes like 2 hours I swear
- Don’t procrastinate, most seniors stop trying because they already sent applications but DONT do that. They usually drop in rank, GPA drops which affects the Cal Grants (GPA based money given) and more.
- Have some fun too okay please I didn’t and regret it a lil
- Connect with your teachers, senior teachers are usually hecka cool
Good luck! I hope you get into your dream school!
and here are all of the setups!
*asmr and a beautiful flip through*
Don't stress about your college essay it will just come to you. Also start the common app 2 months before your first deadline. This not only allowed me to work when I wanted but also gave me the satisfaction of knowing that wouldn't have to rush when my deadlines approached.
Apply before October your senior year. Applying early shows a sense of maturity and reliability that colleges look for!
You have made that look so clean and beautiful. Well done. Thankyou for sharing.
college application tips!
1. please don’t forget financial aid/scholarship deadlines for your schools! they’re often different than final deadlines for applying and can be easy to miss, so make sure you pay attention to those
2. if your school has a rule like mine where you have to turn in your transcript release form 10 school days before your college’s deadline, count it out ahead of time!! i almost missed my top school’s deadline because i forgot about winter break. thank god my friend reminded me or i would not have been able to apply to some of my schools
3. meet with your guidance counselor often! they can check over your common app, make sure you’re going in the right direction, remind you of deadlines, etc
4. if you continue to take challenging classes in your senior year, do not underestimate the amount of work you’ll have to do and the amount of time you’ll have to do it! i severely overestimated the extra time i would have to complete my applications and i barely finished them in time. i had originally wanted them done in mid october, and ended up finishing in december. set times aside where you specifically work on your applications for maybe one hour a day, for example.
good luck with your applications!! i hope they all go well!! don’t make the same mistakes that i did lol
for college applications i recommend writing your essays and starting to apply in the summer before your senior year because usually july/august is when colleges open early admissions. i did this and heard back from colleges before some of my friends evan started their applications.
I’m a junior too! Best of luck to both of us. Also have fun watching those musicals!
Maybe I’ll start a bullet journal too. They seem fun and helpful
Good luck!
wait whattt you’re only a junior??!!?! *insert pikachu meme*
I will totally do the last replaced spread when i set up my bullet journal. thanks for giving me the idea 😊 love your 2019 set up ❤❤
good luck with all of your things in the new year! I know college apps can be scary, but as a first year in college now, I can tell you that all of the stress is worth it! keep journaling, it's the main thing that's kept me sane so far :)
you are so aesthetic, i love this so much😭😭
Megan K thanks 🥰
A major thing I would say to pay close attention to for college is dates for financial aid! It can be super super stressful to find out about a date short notice. Definitely would recommend getting stuff done for financial aid as early as possible
Love the scratchy font!! It looks really cool!
One definition for studyquill:
Neatly amazing!
i’m currently a senior and you should definitely know the FASFA deadline and know that usually May 1 is decision making day if you haven’t already decided which college to go to. i recommend using college board when looking into any colleges or even future careers it’s very helpful.
So excited for the new year! I hope you progress even further!
for college apps-
definitely make a list of what schools require official score reports, and when financial aid deadlines are!
I love how you organize you bullet journal
I’m a senior so I’ve already been through all the college application stuff. My best tip is fill out all your common app info THE DAY IT OPENS. You will be so ahead and much less stressed. The college application process is so stressful.
Din0saurking thank you for the advice 💙
studyquill Of course! Good luck with the rest of your junior year!
I'm getting my 2019 bujo for xmas! can't wait to start my spreads
Don't be afraid to apply to schools that don't use the common app either.
this iconic queen will slay us with new content every week🤠
I CLICKED SO FAST I WAS SO EXCITED!!! Im a kid and i love astronomy so im gonna get a book about it from the library since i finished school. Your vids motivate me so much to study!!
Tigerlist's Videos-> How old are you?
Nina Elmoyan shes 9
I'm so excited to start my new BuJo next year. Needless to say, many of your spreads are going into it. 😋
Your planners are always SO beautiful 😍
I am very suprised that you are so "together" as a highschooler and so well spoken. Four decades ago I also ran track in the 880 yd race (now the 800 m) with a best time of 2:08 min, but I tried to run the mile with only a best of 6:02 so I am quite impressed with your speed. Such a nice video you published....will have to check out your others! Merry Christmas!
ah thanks I'm honored 😊 congrats on your track PRs!! merry (late) christmas 🎄🎄
For dates, be sure to note the following:
- FAFSA opens on October 1st (Sometimes, the sooner you submit that, the better.
You should do a room tour! I think it’ll be nice to see how you keep everything organized!
A'tiana Cooper I have an explanation in my FAQ (link in desc) and thank you!!
This is the first time I’ve came across your videos and I instantly subscribed!
Your spreads are very neat and beautiful. You've motivated me to start a bullet journal too! Thanks! Also, Merry Christmas 💝🎄🎉

This video was recommended on my home page. I'm also starting my senior year of high school this year! And your caligraphy is gorgeous, btw
I’m starting my own bullet journal for 2019, it’s my first time as well. But your ‘year in pixels’ seems very nice and I feel like trying it
definitely write down the fafsa/css profile deadlines!! that's for financial aid and definitely an easy thing to overlook
I just uploaded a video setting up my digital journal for january ! I love all of your drawings and your handwriting, great video
