Here's how I personally do this. If you don't want to take the first drive on 1, move to 2 and start the round there. Then you finish out back at hole 1. It adds pressure and won't feel like you're totally cheesing 1.
Thats how I've always done it when I try this, I think thats the best way to do the videos
imo this is the perfect way to do it..
It's still a 9-hole loop. That seems fair, considering some tournaments are stagger-start.
Makes complete and total sense. I vote for this.
Indeed. Just whenever you decide you can't make it, start a new round at the next hole from where you were at.
If you want to make it a tad easier, you could keep cycling holes 1-9 until you've shot 9 under on the last 9 holes (like, retroactively decide you've started the new round 9 holes ago)
Restarting hole 1 is fine. But penalize yourself and go get your throw. That way there is some pressure.
This. Just throwing off the tee on hole 1 until you get a shot you like is definitely cheating a bit.
Honestly even requiring you run the putt no matter where it lands would have a similar pressure applying affect
Both great ideas
Noted. Good suggestion. Definitely don't want hole one to be a complete throwaway
I think you should have to play out hole 1, because you're robbing yourself of a long putt that could start you off on an electric high if you make it. To accomplish this task, you're going to have to make at least one putt that you don't think you'll make. It also incorporates what was said above about having to walk the hole.
I don't mind restarting on hole 1, but I think you should have to attempt to play it out. Even if that means trying to throw it in from the fairway for your birdy. Ir isn't tha much work to walk back up one fairway 😉
Even on hole 1, always putt your drive. You never know when you'll get a nice long putt.
The date is August 26th 2058 and Trevor is still attempting to shoot the perfect round. I am from the future.
Talk about “on brand” missing a 15 footer to end the video was definitely on brand for you Trevor. 🤣🤣🤣
I like the idea overall, but start from a different tee for each episode's attempt.
Should make one episode where you just play the entire course, but try a few different discs for each hole. And then trying a round where you play with whatever worked the best :)
love this idea!
Definitely should take your first drive on hole one whether you like it or not, that way you either gain some huge momentum by making a highlight putt on round 1 or you gave that attempt a fair shot and you restart. Love the series idea! I’m here for every attempt!!
Heck yes, Trevor. Hyped for this series!
Restart whenever, DGV rules baby!
I really enjoy these types of series. Would you consider the idea of allowing yourself to have 1 mulligan per round that you can use at any time? Just adds a tiny bit of buffer and I wouldn't mind seeing it personally.
This is playing disc golf irl as if you are playing disc golf valley, basically
Precisely 😂
That's exactly what I was going to say. I do this in Disc Golf Valley when I'm trying to get all 3 stars on a course. lol
Love this series idea!!
i feel like this series really does have great potential. Keep up the great work Trevor !
I like the series. It is very reminiscent of what y'all doing on Foundation.
Cool idea for a series man, keep up the great work 💪
Even with eliminating a bad hole 1 start, this is a tough challenge. You would need to be able to birdy each hole 3 out of 4 times consistently to be able to have a 10% chance of doing this. I believe you can do it Trev! I want to see it!
When i first saw this video, i expected it with mulligans, so you try weekly to do the round with less mulligans every week. But this concept is pretty cool, i think throwing on basket 1 until u get birdie is fine, its a easy enough basket that it doesnt take the excitement away.
really like this video please continue with the series
First of all, I’m a fan of this series so hope to see this continue for a while! As for the restart on 1, what if you gave yourself a set limit of how many attempts per video. That will add some pressure and make you putt cause you don’t want to waste an attempt on the first hole? Idk, just a thought. I guess at the root of my comment, I support the idea of putting 1 no matter the drive, you never know what might happen.
Do the Thing as u did on hole 1 but start every round on diffrent holes
Restarting hole 1 is absolutely fine. The whole point is to go 9 for 9 - the whole point is to get 9 birdies in a row. (Yes I know there's eagle chances that make that not necessarily exactly the case, but you get the point). That starts once you've gotten a birdie.
Always try and make the putt on hole 1 and if it’s not a birdie then start over so there’s pressure somewhat
great series
I love this idea. When/if you give up, finish the rest of the course. You have to get good at those holes as well.
I have no problem with the restarting of hole 1, I like the premise of the challenge on first impression!
Idea for future video : ground is lava disc golf, if it hits the ground, you can't use it for the rest of the round. Like survivor but if you make the shot you keep the disc. If it's stuck in a tree, you keep the disc. Lands in water? Keep the disc. Try to get through a 9 hole course then an 18 hole course. :) just shoutout Nate if you end up using it.
I like it, don't have a problem with you restarting on 1. It's the same as throwing a few holes & starting over. What you need is to insert a clapper board between tries..."take 2", "take 3", etc.
I think you should play out the first hole before restarting
That way you can get an epic throw-in
It's perfection. You can restart as much as you want.
OR
9-hole loop. If you miss a hole in a way that's round-ending, you're allowed to restart with any hole as long as you get -9 through 9.
Let's goooooo
I think going to get your putt after hole one attempts would help your putting game just slightly better. This series lends itself to some clutch edge of Circle 2 puts. Also, take 7 months ago Trevor's advice and don't just aim for the open gap on hole 2-- "Aim small, miss small." Great Content keep it up! 😎
Tournament rules😁 every hole👍🏻
Makes you a better Disc Golfer,
Play 18 holes then show your score.
Until you get the score that you want.
You could film it once a month.
Gotta get the sockibomb slammer to compliment that slammer for that sharp forehand up, it's such a good disc for that
You should play EVERY hole BUT it's a rotating score. So if you go -7 first round but missed like hole 3 and 4 but your second round you go birdie, birdie, par, eagle for a 2 stroke gain that means you are "technically" -9 on the last 9 holes. Hope that makes sense. This way you can also say each episode you will play the course at least 18 or 27 holes or whatever you want to set the line at on minimum holes played. Would also be more entertaining to watch since we get to see some of the later holes. Would also get you practice equally on all the holes.
Always play out the hole and advance. If you shoot -9 in any sequence of nine holes it’s a perfect round. That way we don’t get front loaded with holes 1,2,3 and you save time by not having to backtrack.
if you want to restart, just restart on the hole that you are on and then play through 9 holes from where you are. that way you save the time of walking to another tee and it adds some variety of playing different holes too
we lit
Danny Lindhal did something like this where he would restart from the next hole. So if he got his park on hole 5 he would then try to play 9 holes starting at hole 6 and play through until he got back to 5. Makes an interesting way to restart the round. (And if you botch hole 1 you then restart on hole 2.)
I like the restarting the course rule
For hole 4, the wide anny forhands you want to pan, i throw my glow hex on the same angle you are throwing your slammer and my hex will pan out flat and ride. worth a shot. or really anything in that -1/1 mid slot
I think you should have to play them all. It adds a bit of pressure which makes it interesting to watch. There's less to root for if you can just give up and start over.
Like the format. Maybe and punishment for whole one. Like if miss backhand have to throw forehand next shot or eat a cupcake😂
Restarting after 1 throw on hole 1 is all good in my book - maybe put something on the line for the series that depends on the total number of attempts taken so that hole 1 isn’t meaningless
Replaying hole 1 makes total sense and as you pointed out restarting when you realize your not going to make it it so true that people know your done so why watch the final holes.
You can restart hole 1, but you need to finish it. You could throw in, and that gives some effort. You want to throw in because it's easier than walking back up to the tee.
I think 2 off the first like normal and then play through and if it’s not possible then restart. Seems a little better than throwing until a birdie on 1, puts a tad bit of pressure but definitely enough chance to get birdie on one I think
If you wanna restart on hole one you should just have to run and get the thrown disc. That way there’s a real distinction between the “rounds”
Idk man I think he’s gonna throw it so the challenge can last longer. He talked more about how he wanted this series to last forever than actually wanting to do it. A Real content is the priority guy
Konner would never do us like that. Konner all about the chains. Content is secondary
I think you should try Falling creek shorts with this challenge as well. Definitely harder to get all 18 but it has two eagle-able par 4's
Out of curiosity… why don’t you throw forehand on hole 1? With the shape of the hillside, you won’t get much of a skip. I’ve noticed that on Foundation as well
Never played this course but is an overhand on hole 5 an option?
I think it'd be fun to have a reward or punishment chart based off of how many attempts it takes to complete. Then you have to count each restart as an attempt, even if it is a single throw
I think doing two off the top would be a good happy medium to work with
"just dont bounce a lot" Disc proceeds to bounce as much as it could.
Put down the grace at hole 4 and throw a bit slower disc and make sure you have a backhand upshot. :)
I think you should go until it's impossible to reach -9, and then restart the round. If there are three eagle-able par 4s, the best round without an ace would be -12. So you would only restart the round if you had enough pars/bogeys to make reaching -9 impossible.
I thought this debate is still ongoing but is 9 down or more thru 9 the same as below par on each hole?
Have to finish the hole before you can restart . You never know , you can probably make it if you run it!
So, if you get to like 20-30 attempts, start the round on the hardest par 3, then you have to start with a birdie from there. Then you get to that "easy" par 4 that you parred twice as a finisher. Would be interesting
18:33 I doubt you’re gonna read this since there’s 150 some comments but try throwing a buzz on these shots they tend to pan really nicely since they’re not so stable. They also tend to pan on multiple different angles of Annie giving you a little more forgiveness.
Start over whenever you need to. But don’t just keep driving. You gotta finish the hole then walk back to the tee.
If you are just going to play hole 1 until you birdie it, then just skip it. Or play it out to have to walk some. Maybe after hole 9 go back to hole 1 and one more throw to confirm the birdie there. (The whole twice or its luck)
it's fine the way you're doing it. you dont need to go get your disc. it's like in disc golf valley... you always restart until you get hole 1
Forehand slammer on one is the play
Can you just do a par or better every hole round just to confirm that is doable?
if you miss hole one, i’m gonna need to see a car vlog on the way home; then you can turn around and start again.
You should always play out hole 1 because you'll get to practice your longer putts and one may go in!
I don't think there should be any rules to argue over, you set a goal of -9 and get it anyway you want with whatever restarts make it easiest, like youre speed running
BUT I also think a perfect round is not -9, but rather a birdie on every hole, which makes the restart issue a non-issue but the challenge certainly harder
I would finish the hole at least because what if you have a sick throw in?
Maybe throw 3 drives at hole 1, and take the 2nd best result?
What about 2 off the first, but you have to play the first three holes before starting over
Restarting is fine. Still gotta birdie everything else
I think you should be able to restart after hole 3.
My 2 cents:
Can’t restart until you’ve finished 3 holes and
Try throwing slower discs in some of the par 4’s so we can see electric 2 shots
If hole 4 is your worst hole maybe try a different line? I’ve seen you throw a thumber try that. There is a huge open gap up high.
Love the idea but I would rather see you play out every drive also like the idea of starting every attempt at a diff ent starting point.
For hole 1, maybe just 2 off the top and then we go
You need to go back and find the disc you aced hole 2 with in the past then man up and use the wraith on the 600 ft hole. Don’t be afraid to trust the disc you throw
I would just do Tennessee Twos off the first tee
3:35 to alleviate that “null and void” feeling that whole one gives, add a punishment for the total number of restarts throughout the series. For example, you’re at 4 failed attempts out of 40.
Trev who is your editor
Writing "THREE UNDER" and "NINE UNDER" vs -3 and -9... Which one do we think looks better? I'd say -3 and -9 looks WAY better
Just my preference but I like the number score graphic opposed to the words
Miss hole one you should at least play to the first potential eagle hole to make up for it.
Good idea, but should have played 1 complete round to start the series. Show everyone the holes and get a baseline for a normal score.
To echo what others said, it’s ok to restart the round, but I think you should need to complete hole one first.
Why is the score tracker in word text? Scoring is kept by numbers.
Play at least 3 holes before you can restart.
I think you should just do a breakfast ball off 1. Nobody will judge if you throw 2 off the first
Groundhogs day lol.
You should do a no take back play through so we know where you start from.
You can’t restart till
Hole 3
Is a good balance
gotta shoot the second shot on 1
We won’t talk about the foot fault on hole 4 putt
I think you should finish a hole before just giving up on the round. So you don’t have a built in mulligan on hole 1
Fish hole 1 and then show the birdie play and be honest and say how many attempts it took to get there that way we can follow the progression without the fill.
I don't mind the restarting on hole 1
Restart, but keep a small attempt counter in the corner. If you have a bad first throw, count it as a full round attempt. *Edit, looks like you did that... commented too soon.
