The world needs Sierra. Not sure if the world is ready yet, or not, but Sierra’s clearly ready.
It’s time, world.
myguitardidyermom212 kudos!
So called music industry has what it merits: mediocrity!
Avoid it at any means!
I concur
I'm ready. I think Tom Waits may finally have someone to pass the baton to.
I love getting to respond to this in 2024!!! We are ready now...
THIS is the sound Nashville fears.
You must recognize something before you can fear it. Sadly, Nashville (the industry side) is too busy churning out radio friendly cunt-ry music to even notice a gem like Sierra. That's coming from a Native Nashvillian.
This kind of music is way above and beyond anything the radio listening SHEEPLE can handle.
They're to busy listening to what they are told to listen to.
SAD!!!!!!!!
😖👍
Pop, hip hop, country, rock on today's mainstream radio stations are all or almost all computer software generated music instead of music actually played by humans. It originally has humans playing in the studio then the studio recording engineers and record producers grid everything with computer software tools like beat detective and autotune. For myself it doesn't sound like real music but so many of the masses, especially the young adults, teenagers, and pre teens believe that this grid based computer software generated music that relies heavily on beat detective and autotune is actually real music. So with this younger generation believing that computer software generated music is real music the crap that is played on modern country, rock and pop sells with this younger audience. For people like myself, we hate this modern trend in music and musicians like Sierra Ferrell are a welcome relief since she is so old school. Rock, country and pop from decades ago was real music with people singing with their real voice and playing instruments that wasn't using beat detective tools.
@@midnight-2021
Real music became rare about 30 years ago.
@@briano.5746 I loved alot of music in the 90s, especially from rock and metal, even in the mainstream. But in the 2000s the only really good music in every genre comes from the underground music scene. The 2000s was the start of this beat detective and autotune crap and the 2010s and currently doubled down on these computer software tools making it even worse then the 2000s decade.
We are in The Era of Sierra!
She’s once in a lifetime. Hard to accept how great she really is.
I’m so happy she finally got her own NPR tiny desk concert years after this! Well deserved
Oh boy, she even plays 1930's-surf- minor blues-rockabilly. I m in love.
Get in line.
Not many styles she doesn’t play
I read this as Smurf not surf lol
Nashville is full of this type of Calypso hybrid rockabilly
@@shable1436any other examples?
I cannot get enough of this woman and her band. Song choices are right up my alley
I love when she seamlessly crosses into surf rock, some of her tunes almost have a polka vibe. She’s unreal. I’m a bit taken by this siren now and know she’ll be around a long time churning out magic.
Why did I do it? Why did I fall in love? Because I watched a bunch of Sierra Ferrell videos, that's why.
It would mean so much
This is mind blowingly good . How is she not famous ? If she doesn’t become wildly successful and famous in the music industry then the Industry has no hope.
"Music industry" is an oxymoron. A contradiction of terms. Two things which oppose each other.
Make it happen NPR! #TinyDesk
Yes NPR #TinyDesk
I’m sayin’! #TinyDesk make it happen!!!
#TinyDesk get on this.
Yes #TinyDesk
For real, what’s poppin #TinyDesk
She’s fantastic. A star is born, at least in so far as real music fans are concerned.
I think she is considered country. Live she does some country and it is good. But really it is gypsy and a bit rock-a-billy. I saw her live and all I can say is that she is better than any UA-cam video I have seen of her, and some of the videos are really good. The voice is unique, a patsy/dolly/temptress voice, but she writes the songs, and the guitar playing is exceptional in the sense that the feeling is clear and the sound expressive.
She’s a hillbilly singer. Just deal with it. She might venture into other territories quite comfortably but at the end of the day she’s cut from that cloth and then some.
@@MaximusWolfe And what exactly is a hillbilly singer? is that a description of her musical genre or an attempt to pigeonhole her because where she is from?
@@thealaskapicker8628
Country music was originally called hillbilly music. They didn’t start calling it country until the late 50’s. That is what she does and quite beautifully. There is nothing wrong with being white, southern and rural. In fact it’s better to be.
@@MaximusWolfe Nice racist jab at the end! I'm glad I'm not from the south. Seems like a pretty boring place.
Chris Johnson's description of her music was more accurate than your bland, outdated "hillbilly" label. She has more influences than that.
@@thealaskapicker8628
By all means, stay out of the south and away from me. No, she is a hillbilly singer. Outdated? That’s literally the name of the genre you ignorant, pseudo humanitarian failure at life. Racist? You can think of me as the grand dragon of the klan for all I care. Deo Vindice!
I stumbled upon a Sierra video today and was instantly smitten. Her voice is AMAZING! I've been binge watching her group all day lol. Love love love this young artist!!!
Congrats on the actual Tiny Desk Concert!
to the 5 people that disliked this video... i will find you.
when people dislike yr work, it often means your sincere and intimidating.
Call me...I'll drive. lol
Goon squad checking in 😂
Sierra Ferrell is by far the most amazing woman I've ever heard. I'm a professional listener to all types of music. I've heard it all, so I know what I'm talking about when I say she's #1 on my top billboards.
I think there shouldn't be a dislike button...that's what's wrong with America- Hate Options!
This has a distinctly Klezmer vibe. So good. Sierra can sling that guitar. Great lyrics. And her voice. Magic!
Yeah, I think so, I also think she was pranking NPR with the sweet southern accent introduction then launching into this gypsy/klezmer tune. She does have a sense of humor.
I love the 1990s family sitcom-esque intro, Sierra
Country mixed with Gypsy jazz. Fabulous. Music has found the heir to the late, great Amy Winehouse.
Ms. Farrell plays a mean rhythm guitar. I especially like the dry tone of her Gretch hollow-body. The single note short lead breaks are very tasteful. She’s no Molly Tuttle but sometimes less is more.
I absolutely adore this WOMAN ❤️❤️❤️😍😘😍
This reminds me of Squirrel Nut Zippers
Sierra has an incredible sound!
A NPR tiny desk session with real musicians and real instruments! Just exquisite music, thank you!!!
If you don’t have her Washington By The Sea album, you can get a digital copy on her Bandcamp page…it’s great! I hope she releases it on CD and Vinyl again someday. I listen to it often.
I hope she wins and I really hope I get a chance to see her perform live.
I love her.
Keep grinding lady, fame is but a side effect of your art touching more people.
Not everybody needs or wants fame lol she clearly is quite satisfied with herself and her work.
@@bigbud6842 Nobody becomes a touring musician, makes albums, or promotes their music in the hope it doesn't get them somewhere better. Fame is only being known or renowned by more people. Otherwise people would just play in their bedroom for themselves.
Maybe, but when music is free...so sad
This girl is a BADASS. Brings back the 20's-30's for sure!
I will. I love her....
What an awesome singer-guitarist. So when is she going to be on Austin City Limits?🎻🎸
Old Settlers Festival in April 2020.
This is stupid good
What a unique talent! Seems like a really cool person too.
“F” being famous! Stay fabulous Ms. Ferrell.
My ears hear you channeling the wandering spirits of the Scott’s, Irish and African sounds that made our American music conquer the world.
The tears of Native Americans, Black Slave folk and White landless indentured servant color your voice. I don’t know how…
Ms. Sierra you can and do “Make America Hope Again”. Big Respect - Stay You!
Not my favorite piece by her, but it showcases her musicianship for sure…Sierra is truly what contemporary music NEEDS! Thank you Sierra for sharing your heart with us!
I live in NJ, I'd fly or drive to see her live
Well i just melted into my boots, happens every time i hear that voice. If she plays anywhere near texas im calling in sick. tell them ive got the alligator flu, something convincing and hitting the road.
I love going to youtube to find that Sierra Ferrell has a new video
Well that just blew my submission out of the water. Killer song, sierra!
I love you so much, I'm from the UK and your music is literally my fave! I did a cover of Jeremiah in my local pub and everyone loved it so much! You are my idol lmfao
How fucking incredible is this!!!!

The Legendary Guitarist Hank Garland Family
the best way to start a day is to hear a new song by Sierra
Country and rockabilly Sierra, you shot an arrow thru my heart.and it feels good
This woman’s energy makes me smile.
This version is so tastefully. I could only hope to one day play music with this chick one day, she's got it all. Sierra Ferrell is FIRE!!!
My brother-in-law introduced me to your music this morning and I am forever grateful that he did. Revolutionary. Get set up on Spotify!!
How could you downvote such talent......
Not mainstream...I love it all!!! Greatings from Sweden!
I hope you win! Every performance from you is pure magic and delight!
So good.
Is there anything we can do to increase your chances? Liking, sharing, playing this all day?
Love love love love love this! Sierra Ferrell ... this is Camille from West Virginia! love this combo too!
Super Star in the making
Amazing, unique and refreshing voice.
omg her voice is just so yes
This is pure Rain Dogs!
H. Astley yes!!! Sooooo Tom Waits inspired!!! thank you! ❤️
I was just thinking that a collab with Tom could be epic
Right? Like she could just swing right into jockey full of bourbon at the end
How has Sierra Ferrell not been on Tiny Desk yet? She's a natural. Glad this video came up in my recommendations though.
Viva Sierra Blanca!!! Love the sound!!
This is fucking excellent. Thank you. x
So freaking good.
Sierra appears to not have made the cut for the Tiny Desk Contest. Those judges were clueless. Sierra's voice and song writing far outshines so many of the other contestants. Keep singing, Sierra. We know your talent and will be with you as you travel on.
If this is true it's some real nonsense. I mean I've looked at a bunch of the submissions they have posted and IMHO so many aspects of this video are of objectively better quality. FFS!
The criteria for the contest specifies that there must be a desk somewhere in frame during the video. This is great and Sierra is super talented but, I didn't spot a desk in the vid. She was probably disqualified on those grounds.
...or maybe there IS a desk. But it's, you know...
tiny
NPR is part of the musical sell-out machine. They knew she wasn't someone the music industry could force into a mold. Screw NPR. They're run by a bunch of globalist barfbags anyways. Sierra's too good for them. She'll be successful on her own terms😎
Can you do... this..Asheville.... please.
You're loved in Australia too Sierra, all the best.
amazing
hope ya win!
She’s extraordinary.
I think you are wonderful and original.
When I pressed play on this video, this is not at all what I expected. This is fucking amazing.
love her music. this one makes me think of a james bond movie.
Bro on violin is channeling some Itzhak
I dig the accent, the music is everything. Thank you
This is magnificent! ❤️❤️❤️
She's adorable! And the music is so gypsy jazz goodness 💗😁💗
Love her and the band! You need some online concerts! You're amazing!
A beautiful young lady👗♥️ with a gorgeous old soul🙏🏻😊
Brilliant
Can you do something like this.... for Asheville
Makes you wanna sing a long
Go on Sierra! what a voice what a talent!
She shines bright. Hope Tiny Desk picks her, she's one of the most unique talents in years for us. Much Love Sierra.
After a five year wait, your wish came true. Tiny desk released today
@@chrismurray790 💙 Right?! I watched it yesterday. Always a good performance/performer, but she is definitely more calm and composed nowadays; which isn't good or bad, just maturing! Thanks for the comment.
“Sierra makes America great”
Really looking forward to hearing your album! This is fantastic! 😁 Big cheers from Norway!
Kinda Tom Waits-y. Lovin it
Yes! Thank you. Well played... tight!

I'm in love.
So amazing ❤️ You are always a pleasure to watch! I cannot wait until the world finds out about your beautiful art. Please never stop creating 🦊❤️
I want more...!!!
A Sierra Ferrell/ M Ward collaboration would be great
Nate Leath"s fiddlin" reminds me of Stephane Grappelli.
I can see sierra's era
Exceptional Love It
