Those of us lucky enough to have TR-7s are even more lucky that you like them so much to take on such projects and share your excellent troubleshooting and craftsmanship (how you trimmed the hose was wonderful) by doing such detailed and clear videos! Also having a RV-7, someday I will likely have to repair at least one of the PTOs and this video of your experienced steps will be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I have a friend who worked at Drake. He told me that winding the coils for the PTO was a particular challenge to get them to tune linearly. Note the unusual spacing of the turns along the length. It was particularly important to get them to tune linearly before the digital display since people really counted on the accuracy of the dials and how far they could tune before having to correct using the calibrator again. As I remember he said that one lady was particularly good at winding them for good mechanical tuning to frequency linearity. When the digital display became standard then people did not care as much about the accuracy of the mechanical tuning. And then the lady with the magic touch could go on vacation more often without having to build a stock of PTO coils, since now many people could build ones that the customer would accept! At least that is how I remember the story. I am looking forward to your continuing work on this significant project!

Tnx dr Glenn for your comment and explanations. Yes these old Drakes are wonderful rigs. I also have a C-Line which was my first rig in the early 80ies. And i have the book " A family affair".
Excellent work, I could feel the smooth operation from here! We have all experienced the infamous "ping" I believe. Regards, David
If someone says, he didn't experience this "Ping", he doesn't work or he lies.
Wow, the drive runs like butter. Yes, I think I still have to do this work on my TR7. Thank you for showing how it's done in the video.

Ausgezeichnet!!!
Great job, but I hate to mess with mechanics...
