    I notice in your onboard videos you drive most cars a way where you dont release the throttle completely is this realistic and what are the reasons for doing this? I notice when you change down get you never go completely off throttle

    • @sense-of-speed
      @sense-of-speed 7 місяців тому +2

      It depends on the vehicle. In this video there are plenty of times I am completely of throttle but yes, it is realistic. Using both pedals in tandem allows me to balance the weight of the car and maintain some downforce in cars that have it. After years of driving it's something I don't even pay attention to anymore. It becomes part of instinct and just happens.

I om on 27 inch 1500 r curved monitor. 610 with. So i must put the r to 610 in iracing en keep the distance 540mm so its correct am i missing somting?
    When i put it to like 200 fov its feels more reel??

    Yeah I don't know, I still try to increase my "scale of the world setting" Tried to increase the monitor size value as you suggested in a comment in one of your last videos and it literally changes nothing. The size on the picture displayed on the monitors stays the same. I'm on triple flat screens at 66° angle and 199 FOV. the size of the cabin looks fine, but the road looks to narrow.

    • @sense-of-speed
      @sense-of-speed 7 місяців тому

      i saw your other comment last night but haven't replied yet. I'll reply here. in Iracing, on flat settings changing the monitor width does add distance to the track when driving but, you don't see the size of the image change. In the next video I will outline changes that can be made in a better way. In the mean time.
      For your setup and to do anything effective you are honestly too close to your monitors. Regardless of what you see in calculators or read, the minimum eye distance should be 600 to 635mm. Anything less goes against our spatial reasoning and vision. At 47 cm your mid peripheral vision is using more of the center monitor and we are limited by the small monitor size of 27". On a monitor that small I think an fov of 180 to 186 will be about the limit.
      I don't have all the information on 27 inch monitors yet. In the original video I was discussing a concept and theory based on 32 inch monitors. It was never meant as a guide.

    • @mementomori4972
      @mementomori4972 7 місяців тому

      @@sense-of-speed I experimented a bit, and increasing the value for monitor-width actually works! I just didn't realize by how much I have to increase it. Im at 15000(!) now and it finally starts to look decent. I was going in increments of 100 mm before, and didn't notice any difference because my increments were to small. Now the track widens up and it doesn't look like i drive on a miniature racetrack anymore. I'm sure that I can go even further, and I think I will end up somewhere between 15000 and 20000 mm (my monitor is with bezels 609mm wide btw.) The value for the bezels needed to be adjusted though. It's at 30 mm now, which already includes the compensation for the bezel free kit) Decreasing the FOV didn't work for now, because the dash startet to look warped. If I decrease the FOV, I would actually have to physically decrease my monitor angle from 66° to whatever equals to a FOV of 180 to 186, like you suggested. This of course is all subjective, but now I can actually position my car on the track, in a way that feels much more natural to me.

    • @sense-of-speed
      @sense-of-speed 7 місяців тому

    There is a lot of distortion from the bezel free kits, most noticeable in turns as the trees pass across them. You have a nicely balanced FOV / POV and sense of speed, if you can tweak the distortion it would be perfect.

    • @sense-of-speed
      @sense-of-speed 7 місяців тому

      The camera makes it look worse than it is but unfortunately it is nature of the beast with curved monitors ,and settings won't eliminate it all.

      @@sense-of-speed Recommend you consider trying the 32:9 57" Samsung monitor combined with tobii 5 eye/headtracker.
      You basically get a "windscreen like experience" with its dual 4K but with much increased pixel density over using 4K Tvs as this monitor offers increased density with 140PPI. Thats a big difference over 1440p based monitors/displays. The Tobii can be set up to work with "opentrack" software. This brings a VR esq type experience, on a display that has improved image quality to many monitors, with a large sharp,bright screen which fills the users FOV. Doing so with no annoying bezels or added distortion. It REALLY has some potential and benefits over budget/mid priced triple screen setups or applying oversized, triple TV based configurations.
