Interesting Ben. I do shy away from subscription products however. Great tutorial. Many thanks.

It is definitely worth playing with. The free version does give you a lot of functionality for shorter videos or individual clips. Glad you found the tutorial interesting, it will be interesting to see what comes next.

Nice video that covers an umportant topic. Is Descript a free tool or chargeable?

You can clean up to 10 minutes of audio using the Studio Sound feature that I demonstrate with the free version.
There is some more info here about he pricing and packages - www.descript.com/pricing

It seems Descript is making significant EQ adjustments and maybe Compression.
It seems the a next logical step will be using keywords such as specific Mics much as one has LUTs that match specific filmstock and, additionally, describing sound environments such as a Dead Space or Small Studio with specific sound blankets or perhaps would panels etc. Ultimately it would be nice to add these Sound Profiles in FCP much as one adds LUTs.

The way Descript describes what it does is as a 'regeneration' of the audio. So I think it may be actually regenerating the audio using the same method it uses for cloning a speakers voice. Yes, definitely interesting applications and possibilities for LUT style voice effects in the same way we work with colour. Some we possibly haven't even thought of yet...
