Great tips thanks
HAHAHA Yep i made the exactly the same mistake, cost me an extra $40 in gear oil. Came to realize when i was like there is no way that is all the engine oil, was maybe a little over a quart plus the stinky grease smell my nose told me " dude that is not the engine oil" Thanks for sharing your experience.
Yeah My indicator was I went to top off the engine oil and it overfilled... so I wasted good engine oil and had to refill the gearbox still :x My first clue should have been the dang smell. Lesson learned !
I did the same thing! I pulled the oil dipstick and it was still full! I guess everyone needs a break from being smart once in a while:-)
Oh no ! Yeah I was like son of a b**** oh well. Never hurts to change fluids early.
Lol I did the same thing just now.
I drained the gearbox oil thinking it was engine oil lmao. It's my first chang with this bike.
Oh no ! well at least you know there is gonna be new oil for the gearbox as well. I wish they could've labeled them somehow. Maybe like a gear symbol or something on the casing or the plug. They are so close together down there its not the easiest to figure out.
@@OutDoorMillennial I know eh ...
At least now we will always look when we do an engine or gearbox change on a new vehicle lol
Did you change the filter too?
I actually did that part right so I didn't put it in my mistake video haha
Look at all the dirt ingestion, definitely how to NOT change oil
Yeah the dirt is a never ending enemy. Wiped as much as I could away from above the opening so to reduce the chance of knocking some in.
Also any recommendations for how I can improve on my next change ? Have one coming up probably at the end of this season.
Outdoor Millennial how about pressure washing your sxs before you proceed with the oil change!
@@vlee1247 usually it's pretty clean. I don't feel the mud in the video was too big of an issue. Thanks for the feedback!
