Spurs do no hurt the horse. It gets them to pay attention. I once shared your veiw but would you rather punched or poked? I certainly know what I would choose. And yes if you use the spurs wronly it can hurt the horse but that goes for many things. If you use them the right way they can be very helpful.
oh ya well what about the california vaqueros one of the best horseman out there they are weastern riders , also you english riders use whips also and spurs and what about tankaleo bridles that you use dont put down these people for what they like if you do the same thing, also jumping horses are the number on horse to get lameness issues , i would know im a farrier i work with larsen horseshoeing and most of all the horses with feet issues are retired jumpers and thats a fact but you and so many others ignore it.
