Just wanna drop this here since this caught some traction. Thanks for checking out the VOD! This is from a streamathon I did and is a demonstration of how awesome Metroid HD is. This VOD is NOT a demonstration of me being good at Metroid lmao. Link to the Metroid HD pack is in the description. If you like the video, consider giving a like, subscribing, and checking out some other VODs on the channel. If you want to catch these live, follow at www.twitch.tv/asolidcrew . Thanks for watching and big props to Aclectico and the team behind Metroid HD!
I forgot how long ago It was but I'm 45 now. I got my parents to buy me Metroid for the NES and it was the start of a long romance between me and this series. The first game was so groundbreaking.
I resonate. As a kid, it impressed the bloody heck outta me almost as much as TLoZ and Castlevania. Even as a youth, I *IMMEDIATELY* recognized how utterly brilliant the music in all three were. I'm not kidding; I knew those themes--and even some from Kid Icarus--would literally get remade with legitimate instruments one day. Clearly, I was not incorrect. 💪😎✌️
@@Novastar.SaberCombat I've been playing the NES Castlevania games for the first time on stream and the music is so good in them. I beat 1 and 2, I've played a bit of 3 on stream. It's crazy how good the music is. You know it's good when you can imagine how a live arrangement would sound by listening to the original chiptune version. So expressive and so memorable.
The feel and general sounds are indeed accurate. The map layout is also pretty much identical, although there are a few new bonuses, IIRC. Additionally, I don't think the player controls differ by much (if any); it's 96% the same experience as it was back in 1985 or whatever, but with "a fresh coat of paint and a new soundtrack" (mostly).
Ha wanting a remake but doesn't count the actual good remake. What a lame comment, the only other way to remake this game is to turn it into a 3D Metroidvania which is likely the only reason to revisit this game anyways.
I don't think they can do that. Metroid HD isn't a remake, it's a graphics replacer for the original NES Metroid. So technically the game is still just NES Metroid. I don't believe they can change mechanics without making it a full on romhack. The link to the pack is in the description if you wanna check it out for yourself. Edit: Also, if you could shoot up while jumping in the original Metroid then you can in this one too. It's totally possible that I am an idiot and was doing something wrong haha.
@@asolidvod LOL. I know you can in the original, I was just going off of what was said in the video that you cant do it in the HD version. If Im wrong and what was said is wrong, perfect!!! In fact lemme download it and give it a run and see :).
@@asolidvod Well I take what I said back, I got it running, and it does indeed shoot up while jumping, and it's all glorious, cant wait to run some other HD versions, and maybe try to make my own!!!

From someone that has played all metroids, Super Metroid is peak. 😗👌🏼
At the start of the game you've got 5 options for where to go, and you managed to pick all 4 wrong ones, that's statistically impressive!
You can tell when someone has never played a metroid game in his life....

0:27 that's what she said
This is super neat-o dope.
It does look good at double-res. Someone should make a half-res version, 8x8 pixel blocks. Atari-style Metroid.
Nintendo should remake the first Metroid... Zero Mission doesn't count. That feels nothing like the original Metroid.
Zero Mission was awesome. Super Metroid needs a remake in the Dread engine imho.
@Jokerwolf666 agreed zero mission was a great game passes as a remake. Super metroid. We need a super metroid overhaul

are you planning on PC ? and how can we get it .. I am also a v.big fan of metroid.. a childhood memories
Yes this is on PC. I'm playing the original Metroid with a texture pack called Metroid HD. The link is in the description.
Pretty well done so far, but you need to be able to shoot up while jumping.

@@asolidvod Naaaahhh, you're good!! LOL
Could it be played on a Snes?
Unfortunately not. This has to be played on PC with an emulator. Link to the texture pack is in the description if you're interested.
How to use?
Bro, TWO whole minutes to start the game????
holy christ that was painful to watch.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i wonder what the game looks like
Very painful.
More like super Metroid. That's not HD, that's a remake 🤦🏻♂️
