Push in - get focused Island camp near objective - airstriked, then torped by subs. Flank - get focused by CV or DD. Stay back - ineffective except select few ships. Nosetank - airstriked, then chunked 10-20k HP by Colombo every 25 sec. "Thinking man's game", my ass.
As comparison, Tromp would heavily relied on fire damage because of the low bomb pens. This ship has 34mm pen bombs and 32mm pen HE shells as one package...

The average player will explode in this thing and won't hit the strikes that well. So for the most part, it might be okay. Or it might not. The problem is, if WG starts nerfing it, they won't touch the gimmick. Instead, they will nerf gunpower or whatever, until it's essentially just a plane launching platform. So it will still be awful to play against, but also kinda sad to play. A bit like Z-52, which feels quite weak yet still denies a lot of other DD's with that hydro.
@@nathanielweber7843 Coming across a Hoffmann in a Gearing (supposedly a jack of all trades at the time of introduction) or other "hey we got smoke as our forte" DDs is quite annoying when other lines get smoke /and/ insane hydro /and/ quite decent concealment /and/ good torpedoes /and/ good damage output /and/ good damage absorption. At least Smaland has a short radar and no smoke, but that new Z-57 coming up with its 7km hydro lasting minutes and a relatively short cooldowntime, plus an extra turret compared to the already decent Z-52, is going to be utterly insane to play against. It's been quite a few years since Wargaming seemingly wants to ensure the newer ships feel more powerful, rather than balanced in unique ways. I mean as a Dutchman I'm quite happy there's more Dutch ships coming out, but I don't like OP ships and so I hope they'll nerf the Utrecht's aircraft range to about 11km and increase the time to 40s intervals, then maybe make its HE a slight bit stronger in damage per shot (rather than fire chance).

Had many gold ranked games in a DD where the Hilde focuses you out of the game from the very beginning and you do zero damage, a tiny bit of spotting and nothing else.
Almost feel like the airdrop focused ships are going to act as the Trojan horse for the next upcoming buff to AA. That way WG can act as if this is the reason why AA needed a buff rather then the non existent "balance" they claim to have with the current CV class.
As a Dutch guy I gotta admit, I'm liking the way PQ pronounces the Dutch ship names. It's very good, doesn't make me recoil in pain. About the ship, I don't like the fact that they're based purely on the airstrike mechanic. I'd rather have normal ships. Other than that, it's good. I think this line also doesn't have secondary guns, just like the other D7P ship variants. This time, WG picked a common, but very suitable ship name. Utrecht, Netherlands 4th biggest city (based on population) was a common ship name, even back in the 1600s. And the city is pretty much in the center of the country, historical relevant too. De Zeven Provinciën is a good ship, although I'd rather have more ships added that actually existed. (WW1 and WW2 ships, however the fleet wasn't big and most ships would not be strong enough to be in this game. They're destroyers and gunboats, not many cruisers. One battlecruiser was to be developed but was interrupted by the German invasion.)

World of airplanes was an initial joke but the reality is this game is more aircraft than surface ships. The other day in my dd I was targeted by a CV and hilderbrand and a tromp joined in. Thought it couldn't get any worse then a pair of Libertads came around the corner. With AA being a joke, WG really doesn't give a xxxx about game balance.
My 2 issues... you should only have a limited amount of planes. If all your planes get shot down, early in the match, no more. Also hate that some planes can spot, while others can't.
4:12 that sentence is very important cause if wg keeps doing this plane crap they won’t have to worry about there being a player on the other end. That being said from someone that has every ship in game
Funny thing about RANGE --> The T11 Jacksonville gets a nerf on their base-RANGE with (far superior) 152mm but the WWII-128mm german guns are able to shoot "as far as they (WG) want".

@@plichi87 Yeah, it sure does. Personally I stopped playing this summer and haven't played since. I was a paying customer (paid for premium time, some dockyard stages etc.). I do like the core gameplay though so I would return the day they offer a permanent game mode without subs and CV. Maybe I should add hybrids to that as well now considering how many of those there are. :) It will likely never happen, but one can hope...
I was thinking of putting him on my leewu, but jebus I don’t even want to think about what an Utrecht with him would look like. That’s going to be utter insanity with the rate of aircraft cycling when he procs his buffs if he doesn’t get nerfed in testing.
I think Dutch airstrikes and tactical squadrons would be a lot more fair if they had a finite number of planes behind them. The implication with Dutch strikes is that they’re ground-based aircraft being called in, so why not put a cap on the number of planes per battle? It’ll still be a high number, sure, but at least people won’t be able to carelessly spam them into strong AA.
When I was still playing I'd sail my D7 quite a bit and learned to hit the enemy pretty reliably with air strikes despite its limitations. Add in low detection and excellent AA and it was really annoying to play against. The Utrecht looks like the D7 on steroids; just what the game needs - getting pinged constantly by subs while getting air striked by cvs, hybrids, and now this monstrosity. Regardless, great video.
Video request: test server game about Marceau with Propulsion Modification 1 + Steering Gears Modification 2, and Philippe Auboyneau as the captain with Swift in Silence. If the entire red teams lines up to splash the water next to you, 12 Colbert's with Main Battery Modification 3 & Charles-Henri Honoré, or Jean-Jacques Honoré as captain using Top Grade Gunner and adrenalin rush, then with maxed out adrenalin rush (just use HE) they can deliver close to 12 million potential damage per minute. They can also use Philippe Auboyneau with a devstrike on your dd teammates. After doing this for about 13 minutes or 140 million potential damage, Philippe will get a 560% ship speed bonus, or 290 knots base speed. Then all the guns are going silent, and you activate your second engine boost, and go undetected for the 8% speed bonus of Swift in Silence. Don't forget to use the speed flag. I would like to see, if you can catch your own torps while going in reverse.
All of the new line except for the Utrecht actually are German light cruisers that are just flying the Dutch flag, lol. The Utrecht is a hypothetical 'what if the Germans actually completed one of the incomplete Dutch Eendracht/De Zeven Provincien class cruisers during WW2 with German equipment', a reasonable hypothetical in my opinion.
Me using "AA Defense and ASW Expert" on many ships: _"Ah yes, feed me planes Daddy!"_ 👀 It also reduces the cooldown of consumables so it is actually very powerful. But it is better for BBs because it's only a 2 pointer there. 🤷♂ I also love Gouden so I will for sure play this a lot!
Mr potato, with all these crazy airstrikes in the game from different ships do you think it's worth it and/or fun to fully kit out a crazy AA ship like the des Moines with a full AA build and equipment? Would such a thing even shred planes to the amount it would take to make such a build viable? Also what ship would be your pick for overall strongest AA?
I wouldn’t consider DM anything like an AA ship. Worcester line for sure. DM is okay but Worcester is awesome. Especially with Def AA. Even Jinan has good AA with Def AA
The ending of the first game is the reason I take RL on every cruiser and every DD. They might have been able to hunt you down... if they knew where you were.
You know, they should make fighters player controlled, imagine how much more fun Cv's would be Imagine actively defending your team from airstrikes and cv planes, imagine plane based fighters could also be player controlled by pressing some button WG should hire me, they'd make so much money
I'm not gonna lie, I love dutch ships and I have all of them except Dev 7. And honestly, I'm worried about the power of this ship. Even though Gouden is very powerful especially with UU, I honestly think this will be more powerful than Gouden. The insane reload and concealment, means that you can stealth air drop repeatedly. The other dutch ships can do that too, but way less frequent. I had the unfortunate chance to face this against a supertester a while back and I could not spot him at all. He just dropped air strike repeatedly, knowing if he fires, I would dev strike him once spotted. I was in a Kremlin and since this ship has the tighter aim, he could easily aim my front/back and still damage me heavily. When I faced it in a cruiser, thankfully the small hp pool means I can shut down most of the planes reducing the damage greatly or completely. BBs are the ones who will really suffer from this ship, imagine cvs, but unlike cv planes, having good AA nearby would actually matter a lot. As for the unique commander, I think the 50 bombs hit are way harder than you expect to achieve. Except maybe tromp and this new light cruisers line. I wouldn't be too worried about it for the other ships. The other buffs are great though and I'll be getting it.
So...we are getting light cruisers with quick german guns and 32mm pen but not so great HE raw dmg....a 30 seconds airstrike,a heal and speedboost but where's the DFAA This ship feels like "more reliable HE dmg farmer" like Hinden compared to Colbert and Smolensk with sub 25mm and you get dmg with sheer volume of shells and fire starting ability
Two polar opposite developers: Zenless Zone Zero devs to Wargaming Devs. Zenless listens to their players, implements things directly for the players EVERY patch. Whereas Wargaming does whatever they want, and the players that actually play Warships the most feel like they're not being heard. Why won't they listen to PQ for once? He legit speaks for the majority of people who play warships...
The ship having "bad HE dpm" is a bit misleading with the improved HE pen and comparing her to the other superlights which get a ton of shatters against anything that isn't a DD is doing her a disservice. A better comparison would be a heavy cruiser like a Cerberus which is considered a decent HE spammer that penetrates similar levels of armor (there isn't really a difference between penning 32 or 34mm) and compared to her Ultrecht has both better ballistics and better HE DPM (217.5k vs 202k, which will be even further buffed to 232k) while also being able to take the 3 pointer skill that improves her HE damage without impacting her concealment and with both the unique commander and that skill she will be able to surpass even stock Des Moines HE dpm with flatter arcs and more range.
Im just glad i never went for Kremlin. It has to be true hell to play that these days. Play to its strenghts and get torpedo, bombed and smashed with secondaries the moment you peek out from an island

I've used PVO in CBs and KO'd a BB that was playing a passive game. I was looking for a light cruiser to put my seasoned CO on. You just made my morning. P.S. any news on the PVO turret bug?
I had come back to the game after a long absence, but after seeing so many subs, CVs, hybrids and now with another line with airdrops, it´s driving me away from the game again. I may not come back to the game again.
This kind of ship is why I only play operations and coop now. If they every take away the upper tier ops, I'll stop playing the game because there will be no point.
This is exactly what the game needs! Im so happy! Now dear WG, give all ships airstrikes! Heck! Give subarines airstrikes! It would be excellent! They can stay close undetected and spam bombers! Wtf! Merge world of warplanes with wows when u at it! That would be faaantastic! WG is out of ideas and has lost control of every bit of balance, thats why they now spit out "fantastic" ships for players to spend money on in early access because they try to squeeze out as much as they can because this game is dying. More and more of the longtume players leave this sinking ship .... It has gotten totally out of hands and im going to quit this when the next bunch of stupid ships come.. Will give the game a last hurray few days more and then im out..
I'm gonna play devils advocate here, as I tend to be the one doing in these comment sections. Ships like Bungo, Vermont, and St. Vincent are far less healthy for the game than Utrecht. Sure Utrecht has some strong airstrikes, and can put some hurt on BBs. Those BBs I just mentioned with one lucky salvo can nuke a Utrecht out of the game instantly. Can nuke basically any cruiser out of the game instantly, regardless of angle, regardless of position if they are spotted they can easily be removed from the game before they even know what's happening. They are miserable for ANY cruiser to fight. Meanwhile Utrecht is mostly only powerful against French and Brit BBs, and good enough against German BBs, with some nations like the Russians and Pan-American's laughing at your 34mm of pen, with their 50mm+ decks and small superstructure. These will be strong cruisers yes, they will be annoying to deal with, but ultimately they are healthier for the game than a BB who's gimmick is to overmatch an entire class of ship. You wanna talk about something with no counter play, overmatch's only counter play is not getting shot. Or to dig up an old meme, "just dodge." Ultimately I can't see these cruisers even breaking into the proper top level meta, I can see them being played a lot in randoms for a few weeks as they launch, even more so if CCs give them the Hildebrand treatment where until release they get video after video of "look how powerful these (cherry picked) examples are! This ships so busted!" leading to a surge of sales for Wargaming as people rush to get the new overpowered toy, only to find it to be okay most of the time. Then I imagine this ship will mostly fall off the radar just like Gouden Leeuw has even with it's legend mod. Though also PQ and this comment section are living up to being BB mains. And I say this with no hate, it's just funny to me at this point after 8 years playing this game. Any time Wargaming adds or tries to add a new cruiser with a decent rate of fire or some gimmick that impacts BBs negatively in any way, "it's going to make the game unplayable for Battleships! It's going to be miserable to play against!" while they ignore all the ways their class of ship makes like miserable for cruisers, and how the last good tech tree radar ships we got were nearly 5 years ago so the argument of "just don't get spotted" doesn't really work when the number of good radar ships is so low, the amount of 30mm overmatch has exploded in those 5 years, and destroyers have only gotten stronger as times gone on.
Guess soon we'll have more airplane gameplay in World of Warships than in World of Warplanes.

I personally enjoy my z-52 still, but yeah. It’s not as good as something like my Hoffman or a more meta dd like my Sherman.
Dutch light cruisers have super-thin armour which often only takes overpens, they can be irritatingly tanky at times

I think the thing about this new ship is that you are basically having a pair of Thunderer guns that can have its shells shot down.

I was thinking of putting him on my leewu, but jebus I don’t even want to think about what an Utrecht with him would look like. That’s going to be utter insanity with the rate of aircraft cycling when he procs his buffs if he doesn’t get nerfed in testing.
The complaint about being fun to fight against is so funny, as if any ship is fun to fight when it's played well.
I think Dutch airstrikes and tactical squadrons would be a lot more fair if they had a finite number of planes behind them. The implication with Dutch strikes is that they’re ground-based aircraft being called in, so why not put a cap on the number of planes per battle? It’ll still be a high number, sure, but at least people won’t be able to carelessly spam them into strong AA.
When I was still playing I'd sail my D7 quite a bit and learned to hit the enemy pretty reliably with air strikes despite its limitations. Add in low detection and excellent AA and it was really annoying to play against. The Utrecht looks like the D7 on steroids; just what the game needs - getting pinged constantly by subs while getting air striked by cvs, hybrids, and now this monstrosity. Regardless, great video.

Video request: test server game about Marceau with Propulsion Modification 1 + Steering Gears Modification 2, and Philippe Auboyneau as the captain with Swift in Silence.
If the entire red teams lines up to splash the water next to you, 12 Colbert's with Main Battery Modification 3 & Charles-Henri Honoré, or Jean-Jacques Honoré as captain using Top Grade Gunner and adrenalin rush, then with maxed out adrenalin rush (just use HE) they can deliver close to 12 million potential damage per minute.
They can also use Philippe Auboyneau with a devstrike on your dd teammates.
After doing this for about 13 minutes or 140 million potential damage, Philippe will get a 560% ship speed bonus, or 290 knots base speed.
Then all the guns are going silent, and you activate your second engine boost, and go undetected for the 8% speed bonus of Swift in Silence.
Don't forget to use the speed flag.
I would like to see, if you can catch your own torps while going in reverse.

All of the new line except for the Utrecht actually are German light cruisers that are just flying the Dutch flag, lol. The Utrecht is a hypothetical 'what if the Germans actually completed one of the incomplete Dutch Eendracht/De Zeven Provincien class cruisers during WW2 with German equipment', a reasonable hypothetical in my opinion.

It also reduces the cooldown of consumables so it is actually very powerful. But it is better for BBs because it's only a 2 pointer there. 🤷♂ I also love Gouden so I will for sure play this a lot!
Mr potato, with all these crazy airstrikes in the game from different ships do you think it's worth it and/or fun to fully kit out a crazy AA ship like the des Moines with a full AA build and equipment? Would such a thing even shred planes to the amount it would take to make such a build viable? Also what ship would be your pick for overall strongest AA?
I wouldn’t consider DM anything like an AA ship. Worcester line for sure. DM is okay but Worcester is awesome. Especially with Def AA. Even Jinan has good AA with Def AA
Yeah I loaded up the game and checked out the lines - Jacksonville line seems to be the king of AA
The ending of the first game is the reason I take RL on every cruiser and every DD. They might have been able to hunt you down... if they knew where you were.

Score timer should just be in the game. It's extremely necessary but I don't think it's too overpowered in the same way the smoke indicator mod is.

I'm not gonna lie, I love dutch ships and I have all of them except Dev 7. And honestly, I'm worried about the power of this ship. Even though Gouden is very powerful especially with UU, I honestly think this will be more powerful than Gouden. The insane reload and concealment, means that you can stealth air drop repeatedly. The other dutch ships can do that too, but way less frequent. I had the unfortunate chance to face this against a supertester a while back and I could not spot him at all. He just dropped air strike repeatedly, knowing if he fires, I would dev strike him once spotted. I was in a Kremlin and since this ship has the tighter aim, he could easily aim my front/back and still damage me heavily. When I faced it in a cruiser, thankfully the small hp pool means I can shut down most of the planes reducing the damage greatly or completely. BBs are the ones who will really suffer from this ship, imagine cvs, but unlike cv planes, having good AA nearby would actually matter a lot. As for the unique commander, I think the 50 bombs hit are way harder than you expect to achieve. Except maybe tromp and this new light cruisers line. I wouldn't be too worried about it for the other ships. The other buffs are great though and I'll be getting it.
So...we are getting light cruisers with quick german guns and 32mm pen but not so great HE raw dmg....a 30 seconds airstrike,a heal and speedboost but where's the DFAA
This ship feels like "more reliable HE dmg farmer" like Hinden compared to Colbert and Smolensk with sub 25mm and you get dmg with sheer volume of shells and fire starting ability
Two polar opposite developers: Zenless Zone Zero devs to Wargaming Devs. Zenless listens to their players, implements things directly for the players EVERY patch. Whereas Wargaming does whatever they want, and the players that actually play Warships the most feel like they're not being heard. Why won't they listen to PQ for once? He legit speaks for the majority of people who play warships...
i think of airstrikes as an alternative to torpedos, nothing else.
The ship having "bad HE dpm" is a bit misleading with the improved HE pen and comparing her to the other superlights which get a ton of shatters against anything that isn't a DD is doing her a disservice.
A better comparison would be a heavy cruiser like a Cerberus which is considered a decent HE spammer that penetrates similar levels of armor (there isn't really a difference between penning 32 or 34mm) and compared to her Ultrecht has both better ballistics and better HE DPM (217.5k vs 202k, which will be even further buffed to 232k) while also being able to take the 3 pointer skill that improves her HE damage without impacting her concealment and with both the unique commander and that skill she will be able to surpass even stock Des Moines HE dpm with flatter arcs and more range.
Im just glad i never went for Kremlin. It has to be true hell to play that these days. Play to its strenghts and get torpedo, bombed and smashed with secondaries the moment you peek out from an island
I’m excited for this new line I would take the torps lol for those extra saucy players lol but I like how u get a heal but I would take the hydro over the dfaa or at least let us switch it out

I had come back to the game after a long absence, but after seeing so many subs, CVs, hybrids and now with another line with airdrops, it´s driving me away from the game again. I may not come back to the game again.
This kind of ship is why I only play operations and coop now. If they every take away the upper tier ops, I'll stop playing the game because there will be no point.

WG is out of ideas and has lost control of every bit of balance, thats why they now spit out "fantastic" ships for players to spend money on in early access because they try to squeeze out as much as they can because this game is dying. More and more of the longtume players leave this sinking ship .... It has gotten totally out of hands and im going to quit this when the next bunch of stupid ships come.. Will give the game a last hurray few days more and then im out..

I'm gonna play devils advocate here, as I tend to be the one doing in these comment sections. Ships like Bungo, Vermont, and St. Vincent are far less healthy for the game than Utrecht. Sure Utrecht has some strong airstrikes, and can put some hurt on BBs. Those BBs I just mentioned with one lucky salvo can nuke a Utrecht out of the game instantly. Can nuke basically any cruiser out of the game instantly, regardless of angle, regardless of position if they are spotted they can easily be removed from the game before they even know what's happening. They are miserable for ANY cruiser to fight. Meanwhile Utrecht is mostly only powerful against French and Brit BBs, and good enough against German BBs, with some nations like the Russians and Pan-American's laughing at your 34mm of pen, with their 50mm+ decks and small superstructure.
These will be strong cruisers yes, they will be annoying to deal with, but ultimately they are healthier for the game than a BB who's gimmick is to overmatch an entire class of ship. You wanna talk about something with no counter play, overmatch's only counter play is not getting shot. Or to dig up an old meme, "just dodge."
Ultimately I can't see these cruisers even breaking into the proper top level meta, I can see them being played a lot in randoms for a few weeks as they launch, even more so if CCs give them the Hildebrand treatment where until release they get video after video of "look how powerful these (cherry picked) examples are! This ships so busted!" leading to a surge of sales for Wargaming as people rush to get the new overpowered toy, only to find it to be okay most of the time. Then I imagine this ship will mostly fall off the radar just like Gouden Leeuw has even with it's legend mod.
Though also PQ and this comment section are living up to being BB mains. And I say this with no hate, it's just funny to me at this point after 8 years playing this game. Any time Wargaming adds or tries to add a new cruiser with a decent rate of fire or some gimmick that impacts BBs negatively in any way, "it's going to make the game unplayable for Battleships! It's going to be miserable to play against!" while they ignore all the ways their class of ship makes like miserable for cruisers, and how the last good tech tree radar ships we got were nearly 5 years ago so the argument of "just don't get spotted" doesn't really work when the number of good radar ships is so low, the amount of 30mm overmatch has exploded in those 5 years, and destroyers have only gotten stronger as times gone on.
