Thanks for watching them. Nearly all the music I use is from the UA-cam audio library which avoids any copyright issues. I do play around with the tracks with reverb and echo effects etc.
@@flydriveexplore Thank you for making them, I'm thoroughly enjoying. You go to some interesting places and there's a few around i never knew existed until now
Nice lovely walk again Marcus, I listened to you and watched the time team tv program, fascinating! your quiet walk was a frontier area with a lot of "trouble" between the Welsh and the Normans, difficult to imagine it then, compared to what you have shown, this is great stuff from you.
I was once fishing for pike in Kenfig pool when I was about 13 and the biggest pike I have ever seen swam around me, I was in shorts and had waded out to waist-deep. Once it swam away I was only fishing ankle-deep. Great video, brought back memories, thank you.
More happy Childhood memories. I remember my Dad telling me about the drowned village and that you can sometimes hear the church bells ringing in the currents, What a shame that it isn't true!
That's the old legend, I talk about it in my Ghosts of Glamorgan video. The actual old church was St James's near Kenfig Castle, some of it was moved before it got buried by the sand and is now part of the church in Pyle.
I enjoyed your video a lot! So many beautiful landscapes and history in the impressive buildings! I think it was a pleasure to take a walk there! The area is full of attractions! Thanks for sharing and have a great day! ❤️🌼🌿
Boats floated in the early '60s..There used to be a platform where you stand in the intro..we'd run and dive in 64...never forget the horse flies, they were monsters. The reeds too were overwhelming,
Very interesting,I’ve always been interested in nature, mainly birds.I think people think Porthcawl as full of bingo halls and slot machines.Loads of history your videos have certainly opened my Eyes.Keep up the good work.Thanks.
Thanks for watching. No more bingo halls and only a few slot machines over the fair. The history and countryside are very underrated, lots of places to escape the crowds.
My childhood, I remember it before they built the road to carry the great boulders and those vehicles were massive We thought road a scar, thrilled it’s finally disappearing
When we lived in Wales we used to go swimming at Kenfig Pool. What is a pill box used for or what was it used for. I really enjoy your walks and all the stuff you do in Porthcawl, many thanks.
Great video, so informative with lots that I didn't know about this lovely place. I've just started making videos, lots to learn, but thoroughly enjoying it. All the best 👍
Cheers and thanks for commenting. Most of us know stories and a bit of history about our local area but there often much more info which we didn't really know until we do a little digging.
Use to go swimming in Kenfig Pool when I was a kid. Funny use to go swimming in south cornelly quarry as well lol. Funny that wreck I always thought it was the san tamapara. Should have visited the donkey drop. The woods on the dunes are quite creepy they seem like prehistoric wood cause of location and salt air.
Thanks for commenting. People still go swimming at Kenfig Pool, there were quite a few people in the water by the time I got back to the pool. The Samtampa was on Sker point itself, I went there a few weeks ago and I made a video on how to find the commemorative plaque and you can still see the engine at low tide.
I've recently discovered your videos, I must say you've really grabbed my interest. Great work. I had to giggle when you mentioned the nudist area on the beach, I was walking that stretch of it with my girlfriend a few years back. I remember looking up and seeing a man walking over the sand while giving a woman a piggy-back. They were both wearing no clothes. I had to shake my head and rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't hallucinating..sure enough, it was real. By now, the lady was facing us, doing star jumps in the nude. I couldn't believe it. ..That was the moment we discovered we were in a nudist area 🤣
Marcus, beautiful video. It looks a lovely walk, and so much history - great work. One question? When’s the barber’s booked for? I’ve got to wait until the 21st and I’m already starting to look like Cousin It 😀
I would say the nearest is about half a mile at the most. Although, the access can be quite muddy and there's not a paved path to it. Thank you for bringing back my childhood. Haven't been there in over 50 years
I don't think it has changed that much, more grass maybe.
Your vlogs should be a TV series.
No that's an idea.
Thanks young man, a very nice video indeed, very educational.....
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the film. I did the walk yesterday and really enjoyed it.
It must have been a nice day for it.
Exceptionally interesting series of videos on the area around Pyle and Porthcawl.
Thanks very much. Cheers.
Gotta say your videos are top notch, super informative and always a nice friendly vibe. Good choice in music also.

Very interesting content! I've subscribed for walking tips.

Yes, the dunes have reclaimed most of the road. The only small parts you can see are now part of the Wales Coastal path.
Excellent video, very informative!
Thanks very much.

Thanks for watching. The pill boxes along the coast were used in WWII to protect the beaches from possible land invasions.

In the books that were written about Cenfig I seem to remember there was a hermit who’d made his home out of old timber he’d found on the dunes.
I could see myself as that hermit in the near future.

I like the way most nudists wear hats, I can think of a fe more sensitive areas which need sun protection!

The info sign is on the side of the road in Kenfig most people don't know it's there.
