Who'd a thunk it. This is REALLY COOL MUSIC! This guy is a consummate performer. Polka? Cant believe I am here. Added to my list of favorite tunes of all time!
Recorded live in the studios of WEWS Channel 5 Cleveland, Ohio. The show called Polka Varieties, every Sunday at 1:00pm. with Host Paul Wilcox. Frank performed on the show quite often. Great Memories!
Ghoulardi, Big Chuck and Hoolihan and Little John Friday nights, Mad Super Host on Saturdays (after Saturday morning cartoons and the 3 Stooges), and yes, Polka Varieties on Sunday (after Church). Great Cleveland and NE Ohio memories. And that's ALL I miss about Ohio. Down South where it's warm for the last 35 years!
I was at Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA, in the late 70's and we used to watch the Frankie Yankovic program on Sundays from Cleveland. What a great talent.
This is a classic song! Great post Joe!. I remember sitting around as a kid my dad playing this song on the old LP and him having a smile on his face. I also liked how Frankie and Joey kind of lost it there laughing, great song by a great performer, the King, Frankie Yankovic!
I knew Frankie--my cousin, best accordion player in Midwest was often in his band and Frankie also was guest in cuz's band. I'm proud to say my photographer Dad did cousin's --one of them--album cover--with Frankie as guest player!!
Chorus: I’ve got a wife at home I’ve got a wife at home I’ve got a wife, she’s the apple of my life But I wish she would leave me alone When I hear “Hang your clothes up! Wipe your feet off! Goodness sake, don’t slam the door! Fix the socket! Dry the dishes! Can’t you do a single chore?! Hang the picture! Set the table! Don’t drop ashes on the floor! Heap the firewood! Turn the baby! You don’t love me anymore!” He don’t love her anymore There he goes right out the door He’ll be back ‘bout half past ten And then she’ll start right in again. (Chorus) When I hear “Tack the shade up! Wash the windows! Wipe the handprints off the door! Change the light bulbs! Scrub the bathtub! Pick the toys up from the floor! Tape the lamp cord! Make some coffee! Burn the garbage! Oil the door! Get the kids and call my mother! You don’t love me anymore!” He don’t love her anymore There he goes right out the door He’ll be back ‘bout half past ten And then she’ll start right in again. Oh, I’ve got a wife at home I’ve got a wife at home I’ve got a wife, she’s the apple of my life [But I wish she would leave me alone]
For some reason these lyrics were going through my head last night and here you've posted a video I didn't know existed on UA-cam. Is the Internet great or what? Thank you!!!
Joey Miskulin played second accordion with Frankie. Frankie is the King, but Joey is also an amazing accordion player. Together, they cannot be beat. certainly. mos60
Proverb: A quarrelsome wife is like the dripping of a leaky roof in a rainstorm; restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.
listening to Frank Yankovic music takes me back to happy times
Remember, polkas are God's musical medicine. How can you feel bad listening to one of these?
When you love what you're doing so much you crack up doing it. Now that's a fun job if I've ever seen one

Frank Yankovic and "Weird AL' were NOT related in any other than having the same last name, to those who asked about it.
They are brothers.
