Not saying this band isn't big, but this band should be bigger than they are now. Filled with talent and a sound of their own. Nobody else sounds like The Reverend Horton Heat.
first time I ever saw the heat they were opening for zz top in Mesa az, maybe 94 or 95, and theY blew zz top AWAY!!! you know mr gretsch is looking at all of his buddies and saying thats right friends and neighbors, he's doing that with one of MY guitars!!!
Jim Heath and the boys make me want to go find a rust bucket 1960 something ,put a 427 with duel Holly pumpers on a tunnel ram intake and see how fast I can tear the tires of the rims , blood pumping fun with tattooed women !!!!!!!!
Lol, my country-ass dad saw the Rev at a bar in Temple, TX a few years back and you’d think he attended a Death Metal concert the way he talks about it. I think he was expecting a standard 50’s-tribute type of thing. His 70+ years-old ass got his entire whig peeled back a few inches behind the ears.
Greg Smith I hope they'll find an actual rockabilly drummer. Scott was good, damn good at that, but he's a rock drummer and I find him kinda intrusive in a few tracks.
GUESS I'VE NEVER NOTICED difference in a drummer. Give me an idea what you mean via track of songs.Rocker vs a Rockabilly drummer. I think this is the 2nd time Churilla has quit RHH.
Greg Smith Scott's personal style is closer to how a drummer would play on an AC/DC or Motörhead song. As I said, he's REALLY good so he did his best to blend into RHH to the point of working out more often than not, but try comparing him to Johnny Zuidhof of Batmobile or Slim Jim Phantom (there's a video of him using a full kit, if you search for RHH with Lemmy).

Musicly The first album from The Living End comes close although they had more of an English punk sound.
Easily the most underated guitarist, bassist, and drummer in the world.
+UltimateAthiest So true!
EASILY, and BY FAR!!!
I agree
That's what I told Jim Heath the first time I met him.
no one plays guitar quite like Jim Heath
Don't forget Jimbo. I don't know anybody else that can triple slap a bass like him.
This is like, probably the best performance I’ve ever seen. Holy fuck.
Same here
gotta love the Rev. All children should be introduced to music this way. Blues, rock, psychobilly, punk, western and everything in between
Jim Heath is a ruler
These guys are playing their asses off. This is a true double masterpiece! I thought this was more a studio song but no, no.
Very good drummer to keep timing like this all the time. Makes it look easy.
Scott C is quite possibly the best drummer alive today , he is absolutely fantastic !!!
I am new to the Rev, but my god was I instantly and deeply hooked. Incredible band
Love this band. Saw them twice in the 90s and love them to this day!
I've been going to see these guys since college. They are just as good as they were back in the late 90s
WOW!!! Never heard this performance before! JUST FUCKIN WOW!!! BLOWN AWAY!
These guys are absolute legends!

They've got it all; writing, musicianship and performance. What a show!

Was the drummer formerly of the band 'Supersuckers'?
John Clark yes he was. his name is Scott churilla
He just left the group AGAIN
