Damn. That was the perfect order.
Each bbq joint has pros and cons but it’s still way better than fast food holes. Sauce or not who cares. But all of these folks work their tails off making massive amount of darn good grub. Hats off to all bbq joints.
How nice of the fella to show you around at the end...enjoying all things bbq from England!
@GetmeouttahereErik well, good luck to you, I hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to the videos!
Absolutely! Joes is the gold standard. Nothing compares
Pigwich and Joe's KC Bbq i'll stuff my stomach for A 2 STOP BBQ FEAST EVERYTIME!
Ive lived in kansas city mo over 54 years, you can't try all the BBQ joints thats how many there is in the metro area. And i make a lip smacking hamburger thats smoked
It is so good its best with nothing on it ecpt cheese and the bbq sauce i cook on it at the grill.
Ive been cooking bbq since i was 10
Oh best beans, LC OFF 64TH STREET by the zoo. In kansas city
The rest of the bbq is good too.
But ive had bbq that sucks too.
Damn, that’s good looking food. Your wait isn’t so bad when you read some people line up at 4 AM for some of the Texas BBQ places!
I love BBQ but waking up by 4 am for BBQ might be my breaking point haha.
You know Erik, making a series out of traveling and trying BBQ from various places on your travels doesn't sound like a bad idea...
born and raised in KC and nothing compares to joes hands down the best in kc gates is okay and Arthur Bryant's is cheeks idk why people try to put it so high lol
KC BBQ is something special. Personally I’ve never been a big Gates fan (Ccaannn IIIiiii Hhhheeelllppp you) but I know locals love it. I actually love Arthur Bryant’s and plan to film a video there. Q39, Jackstack, and Backyard BBQ all fantastic. I’m sure there’s a lot more I need to try.
I live in Texas, and I am from Kansas City. Not doubt Texas has good BBQ, but it doesn't touch Kansas City.
It seems like KC on both sides has a wider variety of BBQ styles ahd variations than Texas does.
It's weird because I am from Kansas City, and I would argue that Texas does it better. I guess it all depends on what you prefer. I love a very good brisket more than any other BBQ meat. But brisket can easily be the worst if you don't do it right. I am looking for quality meat, and I think Texas focuses on the meat more than Kansas City.
Absolutely Joe's is good. However, it's not the best in the US much less KC. I'll put Arthur Bryant's up against any other BBQ place in town.
It’s not even the best bbq in KC. It’s famous because Anthony Bourdain once listed it as one the top 9 restaurants in the world. People are impressed that it’s good while being in a convenience store. It’s just beats expectations
Franklin’s. Corkscrew. Amazing Texas BBQ.
or order online and skip the line lol good vid
1:54 Shots fired
Lol and I mean every word of it. I’m fully aware TX would come after me for this.
@@GetmeouttahereErikTexas barbecue ≠ barbecue. Brought to you by the Kansas City Barbecue Superiority Gang
@@natec3032 LOL this comment section is about to go up a level!
Joes was ok liked slaps kc and sugar fire stl better
Title’s wrong. It’s not even the best in Kansas City. It’s good, but ppl exaggerate.
Not to mention it is Oklahoma not Kansas City and shame on them for misleading people.
Not even number one in KC
0:07 That's Kansas BBQ..don't say Kansas City BBQ..That's in Missouri...don't insult us go to Arthur Bryants..that's Kansas City BBQ
Arthur Bryants was good. Not Great. I've had better in Iowa. And I've made better in Iowa. Since my senior party in 1985. Whole hog smoked on the guy's farm.
I'm in the KC area, Joe's is vastly overrated. Even Jack Stack has gone downhill since covid, and Gates has always been hit or miss, Arthur Bryant's isn't worth talking about.
its my favorite k.c joint, been to nearly all them..but only in my top 10 of nearly 200 bbq joints we been to
.but they not close to texas bbq goldees ,and panther city blow joes away..and only because of the brisket...joes brisket is only average ,rest of menu amazing
Goldees and panther city is child’s play, garbage compared to Slaps or Wolfepack
Joe’s is really good, but far from the best.
Anything that needs to be slathered with sauce is not good bbq.let the meat and smoke stand on its own
Burnt Ends are not slathered but if you want to add a cherry on top it’s there for you.
Get the meat with no sauce and that put it on side i cook jerk bbq from florida joes bbq is 7 out of 10 next spot is slaps bbq
I'm actually offended you called that the best BBQ in the USA. Maybe someone would believe you if you claimed it the best BBQ in Kansas City.
Yes, I'm from Texas. Brisket doesn't need to be drowning in thick sauce. It can speak for itself.
Don’t knock it til you try it. KC > Austin > Memphis > Carolinas. Let me know what your fav place in Texas is because I will definitely make time to go there, Texas brisket is phenomenal.
I'm in South Texas. Smolik's Smokehouse in Mathis and Butter's in Sinton both make peak Texas barbeque, but they're way out of the way of any big cities. Kreuz Market in Lockhart near Austin is also excellent. We have Texas monthly that ranks barbeque joints, but, in my experience, many restaurants in Texas, especially in the hill country around Austin, have pretty much perfected the art. At that point, it's really difficult to say which one is #1. find a good bbq joint in texas, and you will be served meat that tastes as good as it's possible to make it.
Moist/marbled brisket (brisket from the point) is the best piece of Texas barbeque, and the singular best piece of meat in existence if you ask me. It contains lots of layers and marbling of fat like pork belly. Smoked low and slow over 12+ hours, that fat is fully rendered, smoky, with a salty, peppery crust, and every bite melts in your mouth. I think it should be seasoned only with salt, pepper, and the smoke from the pit. Adding barbeque sauce will only detract from the flavor that the cook painstakingly added to that meat over many hours of fire management, and that'd be a tragedy.
That being said, Kreuz also makes sausage that is out of this world. Smolike's makes a beef rib that gives their moist brisket a run for its money. Pork ribs done right are very close to as good as brisket. These meats should speak for themselves, though. Salt, pepper, smoke. Render the fat and get a crust. I'd certainly be willing to try bbq from other regions, but I don't think it's possible to improve on the Texas style!
Awesome, I hope to roadtrip Texas soon and will make a pitstop at Smoliks and Butters whenever I'm in that region. Some of the best BBQ I've had in Texas is La Barbecue and Black's BBQ in Austin, and Angelo's in Fort Worth. Thanks for sharing I will make time to visit these one of these days.@@junkequation
@@GetmeouttahereErik glad to hear it! Black's is very good. I think Kreuz is better, and it's in the same town. I hear a lot about Franklin's in Austin, but I've never wanted to wait hours in a line to get their bbq, lol.
KC BBQ if you have a sweet tooth. Some of us are just carnivores
100% wrong. I'm born and raised here 64 years ago. Joe's is far from the best BBQ here. You need to try some of the OG's. Bryants (New Yorker magazine once called it best in the world). Or LC's. Both put Joes or Q39 to shame.
Arthur Bryants is my no. 2, love that place. Woodyard BBQ is my no. 3. Man you’re making me hungry now, I do plan to highlight Arthur Bryants in a future film.
“Far from the best BBQ here” wow what a clown take. Even if you prefer ABs or Gates or whatever, how could say Joes is out of the top 3 or 5? L take dog
The BBQ may be good, but for your sake don't add God in your joke.
I’ve been there, it’s decent. But the best, lol. 🤦♂️
Definitely the best in KC.
Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s the best bbq in the USA.
Some of the best ribs I’ve had, definitely the best fries. The sandwich you talk about is pretty great, along with others they have. Burnt ends are good.
Brisket in KC is atrocious. I have had better brisket from backyards than I’ve had in KC.
Great vid!
Kansas City has the best brisket. Especially the burnt ends, the pinnacle of BBQ.
I second the Brisket. Born and raised here, but Kansas City struggles with Brisket in my opinion. Its typically razor thin in Kansas City to mask a lot. Just having the better 'burnt ends', doesn't make you great at making Brisket.
The Best BBQ? NOPE!!!! Not even close!!! I’m born and bred in Kansas I personally think Joes SUCKS!
thereare so man better bbq places in kc. its not bad but people go crazy for it but there are many great places in town. i rate it as ok.
Joes? What’s better? I’d say the tops are Joes, Bryant’s, Gates, Q39, Stack, and what else? Regardless, joes is tops.
@@nickscherrer1735 joes has good burnt ends. service was always terrible when i tried it. Beans? Zarda. Fries and Ribs? Rosedale. Also burnt ends and chicken? Woodyards. Also good all around? Wyandotte. None of those leave me standing in a line in the heat in KCK for hours either. KC has a varied bbq background with big differences in KCMO and KCK styles. Everyone wants to cheer Joes like they are somehow heads and shoulders above everyone, i’d say competent at worse. pretty good at best.
Yuck I'm from around there . There's a lot better in Kansas
Roscoes on k32 in Edwardsville Kansas Bates City BBQ in Shawnee Kansas and some others I don't go for this new sweet stuff like Jose to sweet
@@johncarr2110 Now we’re talking, gives me more bbq to try next time I’m in KC.
@@GetmeouttahereErik Jonny's BBQ in Olathe on old 56 hwy but his son runs it the old man retired his was better
Then you have zarda BBQ in Lenexa on 87 Street all of these are old school Kansas bbq
You’ve obviously never been to Texas to try true bbq
I’ve had BBQ in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Lubbock, and Amarillo. While TX is excellent, Kansas City stands above all of those.
It's not really that good...
NOPE
I'm the guy that was smoking the ribs! Damn my ribs look good... Thanks for coming in!!
Absolutely, thanks for working your magic Pit Master!
