  • A close look at Maxxis Ardent Race bicycle tire that I purchased on #aliexpress for my #mtb hobby. Would I buy it again at this store? s.click.aliexp...
    TLTR
Are Maxxis tires from AliExpress fake? The tire itself is legit and using Maxxis International website tire specification. In my case, it's tiny bit heavier than North America tire specs but at half the price. Would I buy it? Definitely, YES!
The #Maxxis Ardent Race shares many features with the Ikon - small, ramped center tread - but offers improved cornering performance with more substantial side knobs.
Dual compound or 3C MaxxSpeed options
60 TPI or 120 TPI casing options
    EXO sidewall protection
Select specs are Tubeless Ready (TR), confirm in table below
    Category: XC Race, XC, Trail
Recommended use: Dry to mixed XC trail conditions
    Recommended installation: Front or Rear

Thanks for sharing the tire info. It looks like international version of the ardent race. ❤

Yes, this "International" Maxxis Ardent Race is spec'ed at 808 grams and the "Canadian" is 730 grams

130CAD/90€ for the Ikon, that's a rip off, here in Europe you can pretty much any off the higher end Maxxis tires for around 40-70€ so 60-100CAD (70€ for the DD WT maxxVersions) from reputable retailers

I know heh! 🤔 $129.99 CAD with 13% tax as you can see on the sticker. What a rip-off!

It is extremely hard for end user to know which one is from International version or north america version by looking at it..... unless they weight the tire and match it to Maxxis tire published specs.

Hmmm...no experience with Maxxis tyres but once a bad one. So I decided to use Schwalbe ever since. They are made in Indonesia with a German quality procedure checking production proces up till delivery. Which is a guarantee. I decided to do this change because I could not rely on Maxxis tyres. Maybe I was ripped off, yet ever since I changed brands to a European brand with production control in Indonesia I have no single issues with tyres and a pretty steady price, including as mentioned the guarantee of the main brand.
Purely to outcome any Chinese or Taiwanese productive connections. I was pretty much done with the hussle and hassle and fake and risks. With Schwalbe I at least know that they own the factory and have full control. With Maxxis you simply never know. So yes good close look. Thank you for your honest insights and reliable information. Well done. Be glad it is still Taiwan, instead of saying "Made in China". Since that would have given them an even bigger hand into delivering whatever quality they want, which is sadly...in general less, than US or EU quality. Which is should not have to be...
The last I want to point out is that anything produced in China is bad, that is not my point, yet as for full quality price control and guarantee, there is much to say about Chinese production, which is, pretty sad to need to say, specially if you pay full pull. So what I am saying is that they need to learn to match the quality, 100% and not lean back on delivering less for the same dollar paid. Conclusion their price quality ratio, is not comparable, therefor I refuse to buy a lot of products with their "made in" reference. Hereby my personal experience and feedback.

I recently bought an IKON here in Canada for $130CAD which is also "Made in Taiwan" and of course the ones before this Ardent Race tire which were all also "Made in Taiwan" Those were Maxxis DHR and DHF which lasted for a very long time since I started this MTB hobby 5 years ago. I have no issue or bad experience with Maxxis tires that were "Made in Taiwan"
With that being said, I am not sure if there are any Maxxis tire factories in China. I doubt it though but anyone can correct me about this. So there aren't any "Made in China" Maxxis tire per se. But they do come from China. 🙂As in the video, I did indicate there are "International" version of the same tire which is spec'ed differently from "North American" version (Maxxis Canada website) So the tire is somehow different from North America. Remember all of them are "Made in Taiwan"!
Despite all that, I do wanna try out later on down the road Vittoria tires for my MTB/road biking. Cheers and keep on riding 🙂

@@lavithhcm After 40+ years now on MTB cycles, I think we should all indeed draw from our own experiences. Only thing I can say, Schwalbe did it for me. As for Vittoria is also good, but I found those less endurable. Good luck since we got a awesome transport and sport in one cycle. Good luck!
