How can Tirek have a pen-pal, you ask? Need I remind you how one mailpony was able to make his way into the realm of chaos all by his lonesome in order to deliver Discord's tickets to the gala? Spearheaded by Derpy, those who work for the Equestria Postal Service are basically expected to be planeswalkers.
We also literally saw Derpy give Cozy the mail at the start of the episode. And Equestria is pretty big on reformation, so I could see the ponies in charge of what goes in and out of Tartarus allowing Tirek to send and receive mail as long as any obviously evil intent was hidden.
Before a mailpony is hired they have to sign an oath in their own blood, pledging to deliver every letter and package, OR DIE TRYING. As they say in the postal industry, “We live and die by the stamp, or we don’t live at all.”

Cozy was legit following the same plan as Hitler. 1; Gain the public's support during a crisis. 2; Slander and villianize those who were against her. 3; Use that support to rise to power. 4; Rule the world.
Had she just killed herself when they were cornering her, it would have been the exaft same.....but I'm sure they wouldn't do anything like that in this show.
She was also willing to commit mass genocide to get what she wanted. The Crystal Heart is a magical artifact and Cozy KNEW it was the only thing keeping the Crystal Empire safe from the blizzards of the frozen North, but was willing to take its magic away to become Empress anyway.

For Starlight, all she really wanted was friends that wouldn't abandon her. Not for power, but just to not be alone. Which she got thanks to Twilight. Cozy's just in it for power.
Brian Corona She said friendship is power. All she cared about was the power because she is incapable of caring about the feelings or wellbeing of others, as shown by what she did to the Mane 6 and nearly did to the students. Her behavior to me was a clear indication that she viewed friendship as a tool to acquire power and likely thought the Elements of Harmony were only friends because of the magical power they gained from that friendship.
As for now, Cozy Glow definitely seems to be more power-hungry then anything, since she thought friendship meant actual power. Have her say "Magic" instead of "Friendship", and she's a Mini-Tirek. But with her backstory being unknown, it's tough to say if that's what she actually wanted, or if it's something else completely. in the S5 premiere, Starlight seemed to just want ponies to not have Cutie Marks and to "be the same" and to spread that view. But it wasn't till the S5 finale that we learned that it really wasn't about "equality" at all. She was just a lonely pony that only wanted friends, but thought Cutie Marks could ruin any Friendships she made. Maybe Cozy Glow's in a similar situation, and it's really not power that she wants. If so, we'll find out in Season 9
Cozy Glow got what she deserved. I also hope season 9 cuts down on the attempted Yona murder. I don't know how much more I can take seeing the precious cinnamon roll in mortal peril.
Honestly EquesTron, I don't think Cozy is too broken up about being sent to Tartarus. She seemed a little too happy at the end. Doubt we've seen the last of her or Tirek.
They have a mail system is Discord's dimension. Why is a mail system in Tartarus implausible? Sure enough, at the start of the episode, she was seen looking through the mail that Derpy sent. A letter from Tirek must have been in there.
She ONLY almost died 4 times this season (1x drowning in a river, 1x getting impaled by a bugbear, 1x drowning in quicksand, 1x falling from the sky). If Naysay wouldn't have been so racist, people might have actually noticed that he has a fair point: Twilight's teachers/school is endangering students.
To be fair, the bugbear and quicksand thing was Discord's fault. He was the one who sent her and everyone away on a fake friendship mission because he was being a spoiled brat.
Big Jim said that Tartarus still has some of the things normal prisons do, like sending and receiving letters. But the problem with that is.... NO ONE was screening letters to/from TIREK of all people?? XD
Here's what I think might happen. Sombra will somehow come back in the season 9 premiere and him, Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow will team up the with the big bad of the series finale.
With any hopes we'll get a Fim version of Grogar? Maybe total nightmare horror version like in Adventuretime, since it's the last season and let them go all out.

Starlight did lot of wrong, but for the right reasons - Friendship and Harmony - and then vengeance for losing it. Cozy Glow did much right, but for the wrong reason - Personal Power.
Brian Corona Well, her character alone makes her to be downright despicable and she did an excellent job of it. She’s like unreformed Diamond Tiara only more sinister and power-mad. Cozy is just one of those antagonists I dislike but I respect the fact that she played the role of a dastardly villain.

Well if you noticed Pinkie Pie was hit by magic, it could probably just be a joke by the animators or her abilities to pop anywhere/bring random things and stuff like that could be part of another kind of magic. Or as I said it could just be a animators joke.
Ponies are not humans. While there are, of course, similarities, their general behaviour like lack of greed, kindness to strangers or lack of violence are major differences between pony kind and humanity. Therefore you can't apply everything that goes for humans to ponys as well. To be more precise, I'm talking about the treatment of children. While yes, sometimes they can act "childish", the ponys usually recognize that "being a child" is only comparable to "lack of experience in certain areas of live" and not like in our world to "being stupid and naive as well as living in a fantasy world not being able to recognize how the real world is and how it works". Although sometimes, just like human adults, grown up-ponys don't take foals seriously and underestimate of what they are capable of, as well. Foals have demonstrated multible times to mature faster than human children and sometimes even be more "grown up" then adults. Heck, as we saw with Twilight in the Equestria Girls movies, when she crossed into the human world, she took on the form of a teenage girl meaning her pony age is aquivalent to that of a human teenager making her in the eyes of the american law (for some reason) a child. Yet look at all she has done already. Cozy Glow has demonstrated her supirior intellect and manipulation abilities being able to fool everyone, including the adults around her. Instead of saying "She's just a kid" and underastimating her by not fully recognizing her as a threat, which would have given her the oppurtunity to do something worse, the ponys were smart enough to recognize that she is very dangerous and made sure she wouldn't cause any more harm. In pony culture, which is NOT our culture, as well as in the eyes of those smart enough to not underestimate those who are younger, it was definitly the right decision to lock her up in an unescapable prison where no harm can be done by her.

About Cozy Glows sentence. She intentionally tried to drain and remove magic from Equestria, if not the world. She wasn't remorseful at all when she was beaten. Considering the fact that probably counted as treason in that world and that in our world that would usually end in execution… yeah, imprisonment in Tartarus was only possible sentence that could be done in a kid's show. Starlight, while I'll admit got off with a slap on the wrist for something just as bad if not worse, was remorseful for her actions when she was shown one of the possible results of her actions. So, yeah, in a long winded way of saying. Cozy deserved to be locked up.
Also, Starlight's actions when time travelling wasn't something she meant to do. She didn't mean to create those alternate timelines. Cozy did mean to drain all the magic from Equestria.

This is my personal favorite finale, and my fourth favorite episode of the season. Cozy Glow is my favorite of the unreformed villains, and my third favorite villain overall.

It's not my favorite season finale, but it's definitely in my top 4, and it's definitely the craziest one yet. I definitely thought Cozy Glow was suspicious myself, but I thought the ultimate villain was gonna be Neighsay. Not only would he have the motive to wanna do this to get back at Twilight after the opening and Friendship University, but there was that plot point of Twilight's lesson plans being leaked, which meant there was a spy in Twilight's school, not to mention Episode 22 showed that Cozy Glow seemed pretty racist just like Neighsay. My prediction was that Cozy Glow was the spy for Neighsay, and they actually made it seem like it was gonna play out that way, but I never could imagine that she'd be a protege for Tirek let alone the one responsible for nearly dooming the entirety of Equestria, and my god I never expected a filly to be this evil and cunning. Most evil and manipulative character yet, and she just was intelligent on top of that compared to most villains. I don't think the punishment was too harsh. She may be a filly, but she knew full well what she was doing was wrong, and what she nearly did was more destructive than any other villain in this show, so sending her to Tartarus, which is the equivalent of hell, was a fitting punishment in my eyes. Overall, great finale, and sweet Celestia I'm terrified of what fillies can do now. Doesn't really help with that cliffhanger either
@@a5tr4l It might have just been a test to see if she could manipulate the adults and keep them occupied without being found out. Marks For Effort was just about Cozy learning how to fake a normal understanding of the Elements, Friendship University doesn't directly tie into the finale and she only learned about the cavern under the school relatively recently. So I think that rather than building up a single plan throughout the season, Cozy was mostly just building up resources and her final plan was just putting all the pieces together in the best way she could.

I tried to rank them. But I love all, even 1 that was not a real wow episode but otherwise great and 5 which had amazing moments, the exposition just took too much time which should have been on Starlight and the alternative timelines.
So Cozy Glow was a wolf in sheep's clothing. She acted cute and helpful, while all this time she was a criminal mastermind and power hungry lunatic, like Sunset Shimmer. I think this is the first time we have seen a juvenile delinquent in the series. It's a good thing that the students, the mane 6, the princesses, and the royal guards were able to stop her, and Neighsay admitted that he was wrong about using friendship as a weapon against ponies. He might turn over a new leaf. However it's too early to celebrate. It's obvious that Cozy and Tirek will join forces to escape from Tartarus and seek revenge. And Chrysalis is still out there. If the three of them team up, Equestria is going to be in grave danger. Since Chrysalis knows where the Elements of Harmony are, if she and Tirek would absorb the elements power, not only will it give them great power, but I think they'll transform Cozy into a demon pony to make her their helper, similar to what Sunset Shimmer did to Snips and Snails. How would Cozy's parents react to that? Maybe they will appear next season, but if Cozy transforms into a demon I think they'll be scared to stop her. And if Chrysalis and Tirek find a way to revive the Storm King and King Sombra Equestria is going to be in even bigger danger. And why didn't Tempest Shadow, Queen Novo and Princess Skystar appeared in the season? It's true that Queen Novo appeared in Silver Stream's Hearth's warming story, but that dosen't matter. If Emily Blunt(Tempest's voice), Uzo Aduba(Novo's voice), and Kristin Chenoweth(Skystar's voice) are too expensive, can't the writers find cheaper voice actresses? Guess it's easier said than done. I hope Queen Novo will appear next season and she'll give Twilight and her friends magic pearl necklaces as a sign of forgiveness, a reward for defeating the Storm King, for educating her niece, and for helping her nephew decide where to live. And if the Storm King revives next season the ponies will really need the hippogriffs help. The ponies might also need the help of Tempest, and in exchange the princesses will find a way to restore her horn. Star Swirl might also assist in that. Maybe next season we'll find out how did Cozy become Tirek's protégé. Also Cozy was talking about taking the magic to another realm. I think that might have something to do with next year's March Equestria girls movie.
I think they locked her up because she showed no signs of remorse or any signs of learning from her mistake. She wasn't even sorry lol. Also i think Chrysalis is gonna be the final villain in the the last season

Then again she did try to completely eliminate something that was essential to not just ponies but other creatures. It’s like someone trying to get rid of all of our air or water. Idk, that’s how I see it.
Pinkie pie sorta went over how cozy did it when they were talking about ways to get out - basically cozy used the key they used to get in to get it just it didn't break when she didn't cause it wasn't getting its magic drained yet (at least how I see it why it broke after they used it)
I'm surprised discord didn't show up, yes by the second day he would have lost his magic but what about the first day when only unicorns lost their magic? Also what's with cozy glow, like what's wrong with her? Who are her parents? How did she contact Terek? Why does a 4 year old want to rule equestria and how did she become so evil and manipulative in the first place? Ugh so many questions!!

I can finally write this comment Soooo... this was my second favorite two parter In MLP and probably one of the top 10 episodes in the show ever Cozy... oh man this filly... she is the best... I LOVE that kind of villans who are super f up but are very deep and man Cozy's character is definitely super deep and I can say that without even hearing her backstory... I mean unless writers decide to f it up like they did with Starlight but I hope they won't She is so smart, I especially love the part where she sees through the CMC's plan and comes up with such a great plan in meer minutes... I mean her plan there was so good, she knew that they would be next to the artefactsand that she has no chance against them so she decided to take the crowd with her that's so smart And what animators did with her character is just masterpiece, her cutie mark, her faces, the way she moved it all was so good that it was able to split the fandom in half because it was just so saddle and that's something I can appreciate I was really disappointed that pegasus didn't stop flying but I've got a theory for it: Cozy didn't take Pegasus magic(because it's not those wings that are lifting them up for sure, so it has to be magic) because of 2 reasons 1. it's not as dengerous as for example unicorn magic which could stop her immediately so that's why she took it in the first day 2. she is a Pegasus herself so it comes handy for her And we also know she didn't take ALL the magic because than everypony would look like they did back in season 4 finale and that wouldn't be good for her too because she wanted to make friends with them And here's a cute details that you might have missed: Cozy Glows crown is made with duck tape I think it's super cute
Oh yeah I wonder that too. Wish he could've did something in this finale, since this is the 2nd straight finale he sat out on. He's OP, so it made sense why he couldn't be there in the S7 finale, but if he lost his magic here too, he could've did something, similar to the S6 finale when he had no magic. Just imagine Pinkie Pie AND Discord picking on Tirek, instead of Pinkie doing it by herself!

Who knows... maybe a good slap when she was too young, naive and clueless may have instilled enough fear in her from physical punishment that she learned to be a great manipulator ( eventually getting her cutiemark by making others do something terrible to a third party as part of her own revenge plan ). Then without those early "slaps & bullying" she may have taken many years to properly develop her deep strategies (as her natural decoy tactics based on her cuteness will likely turn her lazy and carefree, instead of ambicious and arrogant). -> Once she became an adult mare, she could have never had got as dangerous (simply because an example like Starlight Glimmer will put everypony on alert at the first mistake she makes... like that "devious" plan of her involving the CMC ).

Book Lover I know that certain people would have loved to see unreformed Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon sent to Tartarus but, I never thought it would actually happen to some other filly.
It looks like in this world, if you apologize and agree to reform, you'll be forgiven, and will get off easy. If you DON'T, like how Cozy refused to listen to reason, then you'll either be banished, sent to Tartarus, or something else that's really bad. If 'ol Cozy had just listened to Twilight, she'll probably not have gotten punished much, or at all.
Tartarus gets memed a lot as pony hell, but it really isn't what fanfiction has built it up as. As we saw in this episode, it's just a prison for dangerous threats, and Cozy's skill at manipulation and her absolute lack of repentance means that she could talk her way out of anything less. It's not like they can't try to rehabilitate her eventually, and I bet we'll see her in S9 since they left her character on an open note.
In Greek mythology, Tartarus is the prison at the bottom of Hades, where the most wicked people on earth are sent to face eternal punishment for their sins. Kind of a dark thing to put in MLP, but I love it.
But was she really just a normal filly? o.o I mean... She NEVER acts like a normal filly... only this fake innocent act she's ALWAYS pulling.... and heck when she's talking to starlight she straight up says ''You ponies'' as if she doesn't even associate herself with other ponies o.o And then there's the nature of her crime.... Sure she's a filly... But she literally tried to take away MAGIC FOREVER from the entire world... and as we saw there's a ton of magical creatures that would completely cease to be if that happened... heck the ponies would LOSE THEIR WAY OF LIFE and without hands it could set their society back to almost being nothing but ''animals'' :/ Magic is what makes them what they are... So yeah... the ONLY villain that got even close to this kind of apocalypse level of crime was Tirek himself....

Want to point out the elephant in the room. When all the magic returned to everyone, anyone notice a piece of magic returning to Pinkie. Not Applejack, RD or Fluttershy. Just Pinkie. It returning to Twilight and Rarity was obviously going to happen. But the fact it happened with Pinkie too...
Both Cozy Glow and Tirek tried to steal everyone’s magic and they got sentenced to IMPRISONMENT IN HELL. Starlight came extremely close to LITERALLY DESTROYING THE ENTIRE WORLD, and received no punishment. Conclusion: Stealing magic is far worse than causing destruction on a global scale. Now that’s some strange logic.
Um, difference is intent. Did Starlight MEAN to make all those futures where everything was nearly destroyed? And when she found out what she did all it took was a talking to from Twilight to realize what she did was wrong and apologize for it. Cozy and Tirek both MEANT to steal all the magic and when they were defeated didn't feel any remorse at all. Not to mention that Cozy was just fine with Starlight and the Student 6 being sucked into a magical vortex, which would possibly kill them.
Regardless of intent, certain crimes just outweigh others. Even if she didn’t intend to, Starlight almost committed mass murder on unimaginable scale. If Twilight wouldn’t have interfered at all then her actions would still have lead to a war and likely countless deaths. Cozy Glow’s crime was certainly bad, but I’d rather have everyone’s magic taken than have everyone wiped from existence, or have millions die in a massive war. I actually really like Starlight, but it’s weird that she got not punishment at all. I’m also definitely not saying that Cozy Glow should get off like Starlight did, she’s obviously irreparably insane. I’m just saying that, because of said insanity, she should probably be sent to some kind of mental institution rather than a prison where she’ll definitely become even more evil and insane.
Crimson Melody. Seems to me, that as long as you didn't cause permanent damage all I takes is an apology and promise to better yourself to face no strict punishment. Starlight did apologize and promised to better herself. Not to mention that Starlight technically won and she didn't even need to give up, but she did. Even when she lost and had no where else to go, Cozy still decided to act like she was in the right and that even though she failed this time she could just try again somewhere else and attempted to escape. Not to mention that unlike Starlight she felt no remorse for almost getting rid of all the magic, trapping the Mane 6 and Spike in Tartarus, and nearly killing Starlight and the Student Six. Do you understand what I'm getting at?
Also, it's not like Tartarus is actually the hell people hype it up to be. It's basically a cave where monsters are locked in cages. This is probably the closest thing to an insane asylum Equestria has.
If I'd have to point out one flaw in this finale it would be that the solution to the problem was so forced, I mean wtf it wasn't even their friendship or whatever it was just the Tree because it got mad, really makes me feel for Cozy because her plan was basically perfect I mean how could she have predicted that some stupid tree would just decide to fuck her up

"Fake it 'till you Make It" was also kind of a a Rarity/Fluttershy episode, although more focused on Fluttershy in that case too. They have so many characters now that it's gotta be hard to give everyone the spotlight they deserve.
i just noticed something. if the curse is causing all the magic in Equestria to disappear, why would it have the arbitrary way of time indication by the day/night cycles? Celestia and Luna move the sun and moon respectively with MAGIC. furthermore, if they could use magic, then why are they if they know there is a time limit based on the sunsets? is there a traitor among the Canterlot ponies? how can they move the sun/moon if there is one? i legit just realized this and im so confused.
+Joseph France put simply...only unicorns lost their magic day one, they to be honest don't count as a pony defined "magic creature", for day two and being that they are the living representation of the sun and moon...my guess is day three is when they would lose their particular magic. therefore they could still if not painfully raise the sun and moon till then.
I'm assuming the whole 'Mean 6' thing is the show that Chrysallis is basically alone now since Thorax took over command of the Changelings. This may be leading to the final build up for the Gen4 finale when she finally accepts a hoof of friendship rather than slap it away like she did to Starlight before. Then she'll probably go through her final design change as the other changelings did. At least that's my theory of how it'll all end.
Payoff with Cozy Glow was great. As for locking her in Tartarus, she's a complete sociopath with an unhinged mind so it doesn't seem like a step too far. At first I thought her plan was kind of goofy, interpreting her lessons to think that literally having the most friends would make you the most powerful pony. By the end though, her plan fit her damaged outlook so I think it was alright. Honestly, her plan sounds like a metaphor for social media and how people think that having the most "friends" and "followers" makes you more special than others.
I mean, it’s not like she tried to drain all the magic from Equestria and take over the world. Being young just made it easier for ponies to trust her.
Honestly, for the sake of this show, I wanna see how they wrap everything in season 9, if that’s the last season. Funny this show lasted longer than Adventure Time.

She worked closely with Twi, she was shown to be a repeat customer of Starlight's counselling, at a certain point it's on the adults in the room to pick up on something. The worst part for me is that, instead of showing just a little remorse about putting a child in hell, Celestia cracks a smile while referencing it I get that fans might have complained about redemption stories getting repetitive, or maybe they just wouldn't have room to mention Cozy in the final 9th season if they had redeemed her, but if that's the case, DON'T MAKE YOUR VILLAIN A LITERAL CHILD
But, does it even look like hell? Is she going to be tortured or see horrific things while down there? No, she's not. It's basically a timeout while she thinks about what she's done. Also, what Discord and Starlight did was easily fixed. Discord's world changed back with no permanent side effects and all those alternate timelines were erased. How many Ponies got injured or died because of all the magic being gone? Spike nearly choked to death. And on another note, Cozy is supposedly based off of Baby Doll from the Batman animated series. Why base her off that character if she isn't supposed to be an adult trapped in a child's body? Maybe the CMCs only think Cozy is the same age as them because she told them that. Another thing is even in her first appearance Cozy Glow was eerily interested in the power the Elements had rather than what they represent. It didn't come out of nowhere if you know what to look for. Last, Discord and Starlight didn't understand friendship, but when given the chance, they wanted to learn, though with Discord it took awhile before it could take. Cozy on the other hoof was taught friendship, but still used it for world-dooming purposes. And when given the chance to make amends she didn't take it.
Also, if you want to complain about child imprisonment, look at PPG and Gravity Falls where they put children, that are most likely younger than Cozy supposedly is, in adult prison. What makes that worse is that there are no bars separating them from the adult criminals like Cozy has.

I mean isn't that even worse though? Tirek and Cozy do what they do because they want to, whereas the other creatures do it because it's in their nature and not something they can control. Putting something in prison because of what they are is kind of worse than putting them in there for what they have done.
Also, WHAT THE FUCK kind of lessons are the Mane 6 teaching that can be misinterpreted so badly, even by a child, that she thinks the correct way to use friendship is to gain power? The way I see it, Cozy always wanted power, but didn't know how to get it. So, after finding out you can just become an Alicorn that represents friendship, she figured learning from that Princess of Friendship at her school will help her get the power she wanted.
Cozy Glow tried to steal all the magic in Equestria, just like Tirek. Stealing all the magic means the sun, moon and weather couldn't be controlled. Plants couldn't grow, half the planet would roast while the other half froze. Tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods are just a handful of the terrible weather that could happen. Equestria would be doomed without magic. Not to mention Cozy didn't feel guilty in the slightest and was going to try to take over Equestria again until she was caught. The fact is she committed the exact same crime as Tirek and got the same punishment.
I like how everyone was thinking that too many villains are reformed. Then we get a not reformed villain and then everyone's like That way to extreme. It's just like, come on. This is what you wanted right?

She is an fully legal citizen of Equestria. She has a cutiemark and the same age Rainbow Dash had when she abandoned her parents in Cloudsdale to live independently by working as a weather pony in Ponyville. -> "Equestrian Laws" were made to be "practical" in medieval times (basically if a female is "cappable to have their own foals", then it is a mare regardless of the actual age or size); it just happens to coincide with the usual age a cutiemarks appear . . . perhaps because it is actually NEEDED ( cutiemarks are a family given gift/curse ).
On the one hand locking a child in Tartarus might seem a tiny bit harsh, but it's where ponies put the biggest threats to Equestria and despite not having any magic of her own, she did almost remove all magic, imprison one of the princesses and her friends forever and send seven innocent* people to another dimension and was completely unrepentant. That puts her pretty high on the threat list in my opinion and hey, maybe they'll find somewhere more suitable to keep her later but for the moment they have to put her somewhere and Equestria's number one maximum security prison seems like a pretty good option at least for the short term. (*okay, relatively innocent in Starlight's case - she's not done anything villainous for quite some time now)

She almost drained all the magic from Equestria JUST to trap the Mane 6 + Spike so she could take over the school and become the “Empress Of Friendship.” Let that sink in. Draining Equestria’s Magic was Tirek’s plan. Draining Equestria’s Magic was only a PART of Cozy Glow’s plan, a means to an end. She’s smart, she’s dangerous, but most importantly she has a sociopathic disregard for the effect of her actions on others. She is a monster that belongs in Tartarus.

How can Tirek have a pen-pal, you ask? Need I remind you how one mailpony was able to make his way into the realm of chaos all by his lonesome in order to deliver Discord's tickets to the gala? Spearheaded by Derpy, those who work for the Equestria Postal Service are basically expected to be planeswalkers.
We also literally saw Derpy give Cozy the mail at the start of the episode. And Equestria is pretty big on reformation, so I could see the ponies in charge of what goes in and out of Tartarus allowing Tirek to send and receive mail as long as any obviously evil intent was hidden.
Last I saw in Discordant Harmony, that mail pony was still floating around his chaos dimension.

Her behavior to me was a clear indication that she viewed friendship as a tool to acquire power and likely thought the Elements of Harmony were only friends because of the magical power they gained from that friendship.
As for now, Cozy Glow definitely seems to be more power-hungry then anything, since she thought friendship meant actual power. Have her say "Magic" instead of "Friendship", and she's a Mini-Tirek.
But with her backstory being unknown, it's tough to say if that's what she actually wanted, or if it's something else completely.
in the S5 premiere, Starlight seemed to just want ponies to not have Cutie Marks and to "be the same" and to spread that view. But it wasn't till the S5 finale that we learned that it really wasn't about "equality" at all. She was just a lonely pony that only wanted friends, but thought Cutie Marks could ruin any Friendships she made.
Maybe Cozy Glow's in a similar situation, and it's really not power that she wants. If so, we'll find out in Season 9

She ONLY almost died 4 times this season (1x drowning in a river, 1x getting impaled by a bugbear, 1x drowning in quicksand, 1x falling from the sky). If Naysay wouldn't have been so racist, people might have actually noticed that he has a fair point: Twilight's teachers/school is endangering students.
To be fair, the bugbear and quicksand thing was Discord's fault. He was the one who sent her and everyone away on a fake friendship mission because he was being a spoiled brat.

Well if you noticed Pinkie Pie was hit by magic, it could probably just be a joke by the animators or her abilities to pop anywhere/bring random things and stuff like that could be part of another kind of magic. Or as I said it could just be a animators joke.
Ponies are not humans.
While there are, of course, similarities, their general behaviour like lack of greed, kindness to strangers or lack of violence are major differences between pony kind and humanity. Therefore you can't apply everything that goes for humans to ponys as well.
To be more precise, I'm talking about the treatment of children. While yes, sometimes they can act "childish", the ponys usually recognize that "being a child" is only comparable to "lack of experience in certain areas of live" and not like in our world to "being stupid and naive as well as living in a fantasy world not being able to recognize how the real world is and how it works". Although sometimes, just like human adults, grown up-ponys don't take foals seriously and underestimate of what they are capable of, as well.
Foals have demonstrated multible times to mature faster than human children and sometimes even be more "grown up" then adults. Heck, as we saw with Twilight in the Equestria Girls movies, when she crossed into the human world, she took on the form of a teenage girl meaning her pony age is aquivalent to that of a human teenager making her in the eyes of the american law (for some reason) a child. Yet look at all she has done already.
Cozy Glow has demonstrated her supirior intellect and manipulation abilities being able to fool everyone, including the adults around her. Instead of saying "She's just a kid" and underastimating her by not fully recognizing her as a threat, which would have given her the oppurtunity to do something worse, the ponys were smart enough to recognize that she is very dangerous and made sure she wouldn't cause any more harm. In pony culture, which is NOT our culture, as well as in the eyes of those smart enough to not underestimate those who are younger, it was definitly the right decision to lock her up in an unescapable prison where no harm can be done by her.

About Cozy Glows sentence. She intentionally tried to drain and remove magic from Equestria, if not the world. She wasn't remorseful at all when she was beaten. Considering the fact that probably counted as treason in that world and that in our world that would usually end in execution… yeah, imprisonment in Tartarus was only possible sentence that could be done in a kid's show. Starlight, while I'll admit got off with a slap on the wrist for something just as bad if not worse, was remorseful for her actions when she was shown one of the possible results of her actions. So, yeah, in a long winded way of saying. Cozy deserved to be locked up.
Also, Starlight's actions when time travelling wasn't something she meant to do. She didn't mean to create those alternate timelines. Cozy did mean to drain all the magic from Equestria.

It's not my favorite season finale, but it's definitely in my top 4, and it's definitely the craziest one yet.
I definitely thought Cozy Glow was suspicious myself, but I thought the ultimate villain was gonna be Neighsay. Not only would he have the motive to wanna do this to get back at Twilight after the opening and Friendship University, but there was that plot point of Twilight's lesson plans being leaked, which meant there was a spy in Twilight's school, not to mention Episode 22 showed that Cozy Glow seemed pretty racist just like Neighsay.
My prediction was that Cozy Glow was the spy for Neighsay, and they actually made it seem like it was gonna play out that way, but I never could imagine that she'd be a protege for Tirek let alone the one responsible for nearly dooming the entirety of Equestria, and my god I never expected a filly to be this evil and cunning. Most evil and manipulative character yet, and she just was intelligent on top of that compared to most villains. I don't think the punishment was too harsh. She may be a filly, but she knew full well what she was doing was wrong, and what she nearly did was more destructive than any other villain in this show, so sending her to Tartarus, which is the equivalent of hell, was a fitting punishment in my eyes.
Overall, great finale, and sweet Celestia I'm terrified of what fillies can do now. Doesn't really help with that cliffhanger either

@@a5tr4l It might have just been a test to see if she could manipulate the adults and keep them occupied without being found out. Marks For Effort was just about Cozy learning how to fake a normal understanding of the Elements, Friendship University doesn't directly tie into the finale and she only learned about the cavern under the school relatively recently. So I think that rather than building up a single plan throughout the season, Cozy was mostly just building up resources and her final plan was just putting all the pieces together in the best way she could.
I thought it for a while that they were related. But they look nothing alike when related ponies do have always some similarities.

I tried to rank them. But I love all, even 1 that was not a real wow episode but otherwise great and 5 which had amazing moments, the exposition just took too much time which should have been on Starlight and the alternative timelines.
So Cozy Glow was a wolf in sheep's clothing. She acted cute and helpful, while all this time she was a criminal mastermind and power hungry lunatic, like Sunset Shimmer. I think this is the first time we have seen a juvenile delinquent in the series. It's a good thing that the students, the mane 6, the princesses, and the royal guards were able to stop her, and Neighsay admitted that he was wrong about using friendship as a weapon against ponies. He might turn over a new leaf.
However it's too early to celebrate. It's obvious that Cozy and Tirek will join forces to escape from Tartarus and seek revenge. And Chrysalis is still out there. If the three of them team up, Equestria is going to be in grave danger. Since Chrysalis knows where the Elements of Harmony are, if she and Tirek would absorb the elements power, not only will it give them great power, but I think they'll transform Cozy into a demon pony to make her their helper, similar to what Sunset Shimmer did to Snips and Snails. How would Cozy's parents react to that? Maybe they will appear next season, but if Cozy transforms into a demon I think they'll be scared to stop her. And if Chrysalis and Tirek find a way to revive the Storm King and King Sombra Equestria is going to be in even bigger danger.
And why didn't Tempest Shadow, Queen Novo and Princess Skystar appeared in the season? It's true that Queen Novo appeared in Silver Stream's Hearth's warming story, but that dosen't matter. If Emily Blunt(Tempest's voice), Uzo Aduba(Novo's voice), and Kristin Chenoweth(Skystar's voice) are too expensive, can't the writers find cheaper voice actresses? Guess it's easier said than done.
I hope Queen Novo will appear next season and she'll give Twilight and her friends magic pearl necklaces as a sign of forgiveness, a reward for defeating the Storm King, for educating her niece, and for helping her nephew decide where to live. And if the Storm King revives next season the ponies will really need the hippogriffs help. The ponies might also need the help of Tempest, and in exchange the princesses will find a way to restore her horn. Star Swirl might also assist in that.
Maybe next season we'll find out how did Cozy become Tirek's protégé. Also Cozy was talking about taking the magic to another realm. I think that might have something to do with next year's March Equestria girls movie.

I mean her plan there was so good, she knew that they would be next to the artefactsand that she has no chance against them so she decided to take the crowd with her that's so smart
And what animators did with her character is just masterpiece, her cutie mark, her faces, the way she moved it all was so good that it was able to split the fandom in half because it was just so saddle and that's something I can appreciate
I was really disappointed that pegasus didn't stop flying but I've got a theory for it: Cozy didn't take Pegasus magic(because it's not those wings that are lifting them up for sure, so it has to be magic) because of 2 reasons
1. it's not as dengerous as for example unicorn magic which could stop her immediately so that's why she took it in the first day
2. she is a Pegasus herself so it comes handy for her
And we also know she didn't take ALL the magic because than everypony would look like they did back in season 4 finale and that wouldn't be good for her too because she wanted to make friends with them

Sending a filly to Prison/Hell! MLP everyone! I get why they did it and she deserved it, but still very odd to me. I guess people can't say the show is all about forgiveness after this!
Book Lover I know that certain people would have loved to see unreformed Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon sent to Tartarus but, I never thought it would actually happen to some other filly.
I would've been fine of they had sent her somewhere else but to ACTUAL hell!? With Tirek!? That's a mindblown.
It looks like in this world, if you apologize and agree to reform, you'll be forgiven, and will get off easy.
If you DON'T, like how Cozy refused to listen to reason, then you'll either be banished, sent to Tartarus, or something else that's really bad.
If 'ol Cozy had just listened to Twilight, she'll probably not have gotten punished much, or at all.
Tartarus gets memed a lot as pony hell, but it really isn't what fanfiction has built it up as. As we saw in this episode, it's just a prison for dangerous threats, and Cozy's skill at manipulation and her absolute lack of repentance means that she could talk her way out of anything less. It's not like they can't try to rehabilitate her eventually, and I bet we'll see her in S9 since they left her character on an open note.
In Greek mythology, Tartarus is the prison at the bottom of Hades, where the most wicked people on earth are sent to face eternal punishment for their sins. Kind of a dark thing to put in MLP, but I love it.

And then there's the nature of her crime.... Sure she's a filly... But she literally tried to take away MAGIC FOREVER from the entire world... and as we saw there's a ton of magical creatures that would completely cease to be if that happened... heck the ponies would LOSE THEIR WAY OF LIFE and without hands it could set their society back to almost being nothing but ''animals'' :/ Magic is what makes them what they are... So yeah... the ONLY villain that got even close to this kind of apocalypse level of crime was Tirek himself....

Both Cozy Glow and Tirek tried to steal everyone’s magic and they got sentenced to IMPRISONMENT IN HELL.
Starlight came extremely close to LITERALLY DESTROYING THE ENTIRE WORLD, and received no punishment.
Conclusion: Stealing magic is far worse than causing destruction on a global scale. Now that’s some strange logic.
Um, difference is intent. Did Starlight MEAN to make all those futures where everything was nearly destroyed? And when she found out what she did all it took was a talking to from Twilight to realize what she did was wrong and apologize for it. Cozy and Tirek both MEANT to steal all the magic and when they were defeated didn't feel any remorse at all. Not to mention that Cozy was just fine with Starlight and the Student 6 being sucked into a magical vortex, which would possibly kill them.
Regardless of intent, certain crimes just outweigh others. Even if she didn’t intend to, Starlight almost committed mass murder on unimaginable scale. If Twilight wouldn’t have interfered at all then her actions would still have lead to a war and likely countless deaths. Cozy Glow’s crime was certainly bad, but I’d rather have everyone’s magic taken than have everyone wiped from existence, or have millions die in a massive war. I actually really like Starlight, but it’s weird that she got not punishment at all. I’m also definitely not saying that Cozy Glow should get off like Starlight did, she’s obviously irreparably insane. I’m just saying that, because of said insanity, she should probably be sent to some kind of mental institution rather than a prison where she’ll definitely become even more evil and insane.
Yeah. Starlight changed her mind, admitted her mistakes, and surrendered to judgement. Cozy was unrepentant and was captured trying to escape.
Crimson Melody. Seems to me, that as long as you didn't cause permanent damage all I takes is an apology and promise to better yourself to face no strict punishment. Starlight did apologize and promised to better herself. Not to mention that Starlight technically won and she didn't even need to give up, but she did. Even when she lost and had no where else to go, Cozy still decided to act like she was in the right and that even though she failed this time she could just try again somewhere else and attempted to escape. Not to mention that unlike Starlight she felt no remorse for almost getting rid of all the magic, trapping the Mane 6 and Spike in Tartarus, and nearly killing Starlight and the Student Six. Do you understand what I'm getting at?
Also, it's not like Tartarus is actually the hell people hype it up to be. It's basically a cave where monsters are locked in cages. This is probably the closest thing to an insane asylum Equestria has.
If I'd have to point out one flaw in this finale it would be that the solution to the problem was so forced, I mean wtf it wasn't even their friendship or whatever it was just the Tree because it got mad, really makes me feel for Cozy because her plan was basically perfect I mean how could she have predicted that some stupid tree would just decide to fuck her up

"Fake it 'till you Make It" was also kind of a a Rarity/Fluttershy episode, although more focused on Fluttershy in that case too. They have so many characters now that it's gotta be hard to give everyone the spotlight they deserve.

+Joseph France put simply...only unicorns lost their magic day one, they to be honest don't count as a pony defined "magic creature", for day two and being that they are the living representation of the sun and moon...my guess is day three is when they would lose their particular magic. therefore they could still if not painfully raise the sun and moon till then.
I'm assuming the whole 'Mean 6' thing is the show that Chrysallis is basically alone now since Thorax took over command of the Changelings. This may be leading to the final build up for the Gen4 finale when she finally accepts a hoof of friendship rather than slap it away like she did to Starlight before. Then she'll probably go through her final design change as the other changelings did. At least that's my theory of how it'll all end.

Payoff with Cozy Glow was great. As for locking her in Tartarus, she's a complete sociopath with an unhinged mind so it doesn't seem like a step too far. At first I thought her plan was kind of goofy, interpreting her lessons to think that literally having the most friends would make you the most powerful pony. By the end though, her plan fit her damaged outlook so I think it was alright. Honestly, her plan sounds like a metaphor for social media and how people think that having the most "friends" and "followers" makes you more special than others.

In these last episodes of the season we finally see the transformation of Shirley Temple pony to Darla Dimple pony.
I mean, it’s not like she tried to drain all the magic from Equestria and take over the world. Being young just made it easier for ponies to trust her.
Honestly, for the sake of this show, I wanna see how they wrap everything in season 9, if that’s the last season. Funny this show lasted longer than Adventure Time.
The one thing I haven't heard anyone talking about is that an orb of magic hit Pinkie at the end as well as Twilight and Rarity. What does this mean? Pinkie's fourth wall breaking is MAGIC

Furthermore, it seems to me that Cozy initially went to the school without ill intent, and only formed her plan after misconstruing the lessons she learned there. She worked closely with Twi, she was shown to be a repeat customer of Starlight's counselling, at a certain point it's on the adults in the room to pick up on something.
The worst part for me is that, instead of showing just a little remorse about putting a child in hell, Celestia cracks a smile while referencing it
I get that fans might have complained about redemption stories getting repetitive, or maybe they just wouldn't have room to mention Cozy in the final 9th season if they had redeemed her, but if that's the case, DON'T MAKE YOUR VILLAIN A LITERAL CHILD
But, does it even look like hell? Is she going to be tortured or see horrific things while down there? No, she's not. It's basically a timeout while she thinks about what she's done. Also, what Discord and Starlight did was easily fixed. Discord's world changed back with no permanent side effects and all those alternate timelines were erased. How many Ponies got injured or died because of all the magic being gone? Spike nearly choked to death. And on another note, Cozy is supposedly based off of Baby Doll from the Batman animated series. Why base her off that character if she isn't supposed to be an adult trapped in a child's body? Maybe the CMCs only think Cozy is the same age as them because she told them that. Another thing is even in her first appearance Cozy Glow was eerily interested in the power the Elements had rather than what they represent. It didn't come out of nowhere if you know what to look for. Last, Discord and Starlight didn't understand friendship, but when given the chance, they wanted to learn, though with Discord it took awhile before it could take. Cozy on the other hoof was taught friendship, but still used it for world-dooming purposes. And when given the chance to make amends she didn't take it.
Also, if you want to complain about child imprisonment, look at PPG and Gravity Falls where they put children, that are most likely younger than Cozy supposedly is, in adult prison. What makes that worse is that there are no bars separating them from the adult criminals like Cozy has.

I mean isn't that even worse though? Tirek and Cozy do what they do because they want to, whereas the other creatures do it because it's in their nature and not something they can control. Putting something in prison because of what they are is kind of worse than putting them in there for what they have done.
Also, WHAT THE FUCK kind of lessons are the Mane 6 teaching that can be misinterpreted so badly, even by a child, that she thinks the correct way to use friendship is to gain power? The way I see it, Cozy always wanted power, but didn't know how to get it. So, after finding out you can just become an Alicorn that represents friendship, she figured learning from that Princess of Friendship at her school will help her get the power she wanted.

Cozy Glow tried to steal all the magic in Equestria, just like Tirek. Stealing all the magic means the sun, moon and weather couldn't be controlled. Plants couldn't grow, half the planet would roast while the other half froze. Tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods are just a handful of the terrible weather that could happen. Equestria would be doomed without magic. Not to mention Cozy didn't feel guilty in the slightest and was going to try to take over Equestria again until she was caught. The fact is she committed the exact same crime as Tirek and got the same punishment.

-> "Equestrian Laws" were made to be "practical" in medieval times (basically if a female is "cappable to have their own foals", then it is a mare regardless of the actual age or size); it just happens to coincide with the usual age a cutiemarks appear . . . perhaps because it is actually NEEDED ( cutiemarks are a family given gift/curse ).
On the one hand locking a child in Tartarus might seem a tiny bit harsh, but it's where ponies put the biggest threats to Equestria and despite not having any magic of her own, she did almost remove all magic, imprison one of the princesses and her friends forever and send seven innocent* people to another dimension and was completely unrepentant. That puts her pretty high on the threat list in my opinion and hey, maybe they'll find somewhere more suitable to keep her later but for the moment they have to put her somewhere and Equestria's number one maximum security prison seems like a pretty good option at least for the short term.
(*okay, relatively innocent in Starlight's case - she's not done anything villainous for quite some time now)

Draining Equestria’s Magic was Tirek’s plan. Draining Equestria’s Magic was only a PART of Cozy Glow’s plan, a means to an end. She’s smart, she’s dangerous, but most importantly she has a sociopathic disregard for the effect of her actions on others. She is a monster that belongs in Tartarus.
