Traces | Bronze Bream (Expert Level)

- The Bronze Bream. This may be one of the most targeted species from the beach/rocks. The reason being, you don't need a R20k reel to land one like a big Grey Shark. You also don't need super human skills (or a drone) to cast out hundreds of meters to find one. We affectionately refer to looking for them as "scratching for Bronzies." The reason being, they are found close to the shore in and around rocks.
In this video, legendary trace maker and pioneer, Ray Thompson delivers a trace like no other. It is listed as "Expert Level" and we don't mean that lightly. You may need a degree and 5 years experience at NASA to replicate this trace at home. BUT if you do manage to understand the rocket science behind this one, you stand a super chance of out fishing your mates when scratching for Bronzies.
Alternatively, if you prefer you can just come into anyone of our Kingfisher retail outlets or any (decent) tackle store nationwide and buy a pre made Salt Water Trace for Bronze Bream (we sell more of these traces than any other pre made trace).

Good morning I purchased shad rod 12 foot in 1985 which cost me that time R 100 and still fishing with it going strong it was at Pietermaritzburg church street I never made a mistake catching all my fish with this beauty I wouldn't change it for any other rod 😊
Amazing content '' it smells good enough to eat '' amazingly done guys, superb! 👌👌👌Keep it up guys...
Very well presented.
Awesome vid. what happened to the pool noodle? It disappeared :)
Amazing video Ray. Thank you for all the support and brilliant tips for us aspiring anglers. I'm gonna try this next month. Any idea where is a nice place to fish in umhlanga.
You best bet is to walk at spring low looking for reef that has seaweed on. As the tide pushed the Bronze Bream will come onto the ledges and feed.
Guys will you be able to do a tackle review in which we can use to target the bronzies (heavy and light)

I’m headed to Scottburgh for a week around 17 Sep, will the Bronze Bream still be around and do you have any suggestions for where to go scratching for them?
Greetings Gavin, thank you for your message. Give us a call and chat top Ray directly, he will point you in the right direction. +27 (0) 31 368 3903
