The nice advantage of public domain is that you don't have to wait for that company run it's corse. If you're actually talented, and a well writer, you have to chance of competing with the awful one and become the superior version. Much like what happened with Pinocchio back in 2022 with Del Toro's being the best.

What I'm seeing is that theyre gonna get sued over the eeyore design becuase its not legally distinct enough to the disney version of his character design (which is from the 50's so its not public yet) so theyre probably gonna change his character design to something else

Honestly, the designs are great and should belong to Someone else rather than to be for a A.I. Generated Mess. The fact that it's going to be A.I. Generated but the character modles will be made by humans makes me sad because they look great! Also imagine your child loves winnie the pooh, you buy him a Plushie of his new design from the show and it voice comes out sounding so lifeless and glitchy.

And the entertainment industry still didn't adapt, with most of the public domain stuff based on big franchises being garbage made to exploit the novelty of these stories and characters having no owner.
The fact that they are making this for solely money and not out of love for the characters, and they are jumping the gun way to hard with franchising it is scummy. However, I disagree with your take on the AI part. From what it sounds like, they are actually gonna use AI for it’s intended purpose, as a tool to make things easier (for artists in this case), and not just having it shittly create everything. I’m interested to see where the project goes. Of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if the studio proves me wrong and does just have AI shittly create everything for them and hope it’s free money.

The entertainment industry became too used with the public domain being frozen for decades, meaning that stories and characters before a certain point were free to use, and those were done to death, while the ones after a certain point were out of reach except for the copyright holder so those will also be done to death, but only by the owner, or completely abandoned by the owner.
After the public domain started to run again, we were supposed to get a lot of creativity that still has a foundation from something that already existed, but no, we get a lot of uncreative stuff that just wants to cash in on the idea that big companies can't control these stories and characters, it's going to take a while for good stuff to come based on the public domain additions from 2019 and after.

Guys, companies can't let their characters into the public domain if you're not going to do something worthwhile with them! I'll admit, maybe people would think more out of the box and do something timeless with these characters if so many companies didn't extend their contracts beforehand. But BS like this isn't helping. I want more characters to be allowed to be used to tell new stories for free, but not if people are just going to take that right for granted. All I ask is for one REAL non-Disney related Winnie the Pooh movie or show. And one REAL non-Disney related Steamboat Willie project. Is that too much to ask? Peter Pan has real works not distributed by Disney. And Alice. And Pinocchio. And Cinderella. I've seen a few good Wizard of Oz films that didn't involve Warner Bros. And a few good versions of Frankenstein and his monster not made by Universal. What makes Pooh and Mickey any different?
