For me, Negrete was the best of all time. Even Placido Domingo said Negrete was his first inspiration and kind of a teacher. If you want to appreciate the voice of Negrete in all splendor and power, I suggest "El jinete", "Flor de azalea" and "Ay Jalisco no te rajes".

A cultured, intelligent, integral, handsome and noble man. It helped who could. Although he died for decades before I was born I admire him vehemently. I've seen all your movies. Frank, there was a very known Mexican singer in Amsterdam: Maria de Lourdes. She used to sing mariachi and she even died there in Amsterdam. React to her with Que bonito amor.

Jorge Negrete, didn't want to sing Mariachi Ranchero music because he thought this type of music was below him. He was a Opera singer in the beginning of his career, more like Plácido Domingo. But the only way he was going to make in the film industry was singing Ranchero music. Ironic... The music he dispited the most was the music that made him world famous. 🤷🤷
