I am so happy to see Matthias building his future log cabin, good example for present and future generation out there ……..Look youngsters!!!!! Learn from this fellow young guy Matthias! He breathes nature and he doesn’t need too much computers, cells, Facebook, TikTok, etc., his technology is his tools!!! Great dude.
I'm so tired of the older generations being so out of touch with the younger ones. As a millennial I know that the younger people have to work hard for anything they want because that's the only way they can afford it. And if you think it doesn't take work and computer time to edit a video this well then you don't know anything about technology.
I’ve just taken on an allotment (area of land you rent yearly to grow food) and it is in a complete mess. I’ve been here all day it doesn’t feel like I’m making any progress but watching your video has given me the inspiration to just get my head down and carry on. Your cabin looks amazing. All the best.
Thank you for your honest comment my friend. Don't worry about it, sometimes I have days like that too. I'm glad the videos helped you. You were inspired and now your comment inspires me to keep shooting :D I wish you success.
Hello my dear friends🙂 This is the 12th episode of the cabin construction series where I reached half the height of the cabin wall. I haven't had much time to work on the log cabin lately because I had some obligations that I had to do, but now I'm back and I hope to finish the walls as soon as possible. Thank you all for the positive comments. I appreciate it very much. I would also appreciate a lot if you can support my channel by subscribing! If you want additional information for the video, you can turn on optional subtitles in the video. Enjoy🌲 📸 - Follow me on Instagram: instagram.com/matthias.cabin.chronicles/
As you get higher, I was wondering how are going to get the log on the top levels of your cabin. Also is there any significance to planting the Paulownia trees ,or you just like them?
Another entertaining video Matthias. Glad to see you have time to work on the logs again, it is looking good. I'm worried about how you will get the logs up as the wall gets higher, I could see an accident happening, please be very careful.
72 yr old woman here, who admires you skill and determination. I have one question, where's the doorway? Does that get sawed out at the end of building the walls?
I'm new to this channel and just subscribed.. I'm age 22 and have 1 year of college in me as the pandemic came. I've not gone back and now am in construction. I use a lot of power tools. But I love your commitment to tradition. I did gymnastics for 14 years (ages 4 to 18). To make money for gymnast academy fees I started working for a property management company when I was age 13. It was only to make enough money but then I liked the world and learned a lot. I then worked more hours there and some more in the summers. Then the pandemic hit and I got a job at Menards in the building materials dept. I decided not to go back to college (community college). The second summer working there I met a lot of guys in construction companies as home remodeling went up during the pandemic. That led to being offered a full time construction. This is my 2nd year working full time in framing and drywall at the moment. I admire your dedication. I was adopted from Ukraine by American couple and raised in USA. But my adoptive parents divorced when I was age 10 leaving mom and me poor. By age 13 I was more or less raising myself. And so needed to make money. I have no dads to teach me anything so I like that you have a father who loves you. I really like house building a lot and have some great dad role models in my life. Sad to say that none of my gymnastics coaches cared to be father figure. When I was age 16 I was severely beat up by a group of older athletes who had just graduated high school. I was alone doing a bar workout when they found me all alone on a hot summer night. They put me in a full nelson and took turns throwing hard punches mostly to my abs. I lasted off and on over 30 minutes trying to survive. I went home to an empty house and had no dad to help me. I have never ever told my mom who had a lot of problems of her own. That's why I started living on my own even if living in same house. Some weeks I rarely saw mom. Anyway I hope to be a good dad when that can happen to me. Stay injury free as you build on your own! Anton
It makes me so happy to see your build using only hand tools. Thank you for showing how you calibrate the scriber. The sense of satisfaction and accomplishment you must feel when you peg a log into its final position! Another impressive episode.
It seems you have an extraordinary amount of carpentry knowledge how to build log cabins and small houses for your age particularly! Amazing! Well done. Nice tools. I enjoy watching you work.
Every time you roll a log into place and it fits perfectly, you must feel so good! It gives me great satisfaction to see. You are a very hard working man. I know this cabin will be wonderful when you are finished. Excited for coming episodes! Nice work.
Great to see you hard at it again Matthias. Life is occasionally putting obstacles in our pathways keeping us from our work, but that is something we all need to deal with at the best of times, some more important than others. Glad that you have had the time to put your uses to other means in your life, take care of those that surround you first. The building comes second. 🖖👍
This lad is amazing. Think how many young men following his example would change how they interact and function in society through the work of their hands.
You're doing great! I just fixed my kitchen sink because the drain pipe was leaking. It's a really old house and the pipe rusted out so I had to cut it off and replace it. I feel super accomplished lol. I have nothing on you!
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 Looking forward to watching the you build your cabin. Was watching Shawn James from My self Reliance build his but it is finished now ( he built his with no power tools as well ) . Happy to now watch you 😊
I haven’t seen your videos for a few weeks, but I finally saw your newly uploaded videos online today. I really like your handmade wood craftsmanship. Although it takes a lot of time, the craftsmanship is very detailed. The practical and durable details of the wooden house will be better than the superficial gorgeousness. Home is for life. I hope you will make this paradise as special as a fairyland, including building its surrounding gardens, planting, and gardening design environment. This is also a homework.
Hey bud, Ive got to say im quite impressed with your skills & being so young.. As a carpenter of 23 years and seeing the skill set you have acquired, I can honestly say, your more skilled than most of the guys i work with and they are much older than you.. Be your own BOSS, do not work for someone else. I worked for someone else for the first 15 years of being in the trade, why work my butt off for someone else and make them money on my skills... Best decision I made was going into business for myself.. keep up the great work, you have some really great skills. And always follow your ❤️, because thats what leads to happiness... Hardwork, Dedication and good decisions brings rewards...
Your “woodman-ship “ is amazing! You have knowledge and skill that seems well beyond your years. It’s quite mesmerising to watch the log go from a simple but large lump of tree stem into a craved perfectly fitting next row on the main build. It also looks as though you’re not too sloppy in the cookery department! As always, a great video. Look forward to the coming weeks as we see the cabin take shape and begin to see the construction become a home.❤
I admire you young man! If I was younger and I lived in Canada, I would have done the same! No extra insolation needed; warm in winter and cool in summer! Well done ❤
It's a lot of work! And it's definitely hard to lift those logs alone, but I think you'll do it and it will look perfect and unique. I wish you all the best!👍🙂
I have built log homes for the last 30+ years, retired now, and your videos make me feel very nostalgic to my early days. I envy the peace and tranquility a project like that offers, along with the sense of accomplishment. I almost want to take up building a small one just for a hobby now. Pretty decent axe and scoop skills you've developed. Keep up the good work.
Your logs fit so precisely. I admire your craftsmanship and patience, watching you work makes me wish I was young and healthy again. Your cabin will outlive all of us.

Love seeing such great work from handsome strong man keep going love the designs and style admire greatly., Darryl
What a delicious meal today, thanks to you. Now I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
I'm going to catch hell for this but... of course you are skilled, hardworking, and awesome... but your hair is beautiful!! Old guy who has lost most of his!😂
My husband has hair like that lol. it's so long and thick. he's 41 and the hair dressers always tell him he should be a hair model lol. Some people just get all the luck.
I've told family and friends of your channel! It's hard work but it seems you are getting so much satisfaction from your very hard work. Always keeping the goal in my mind! All my best to you!!

Young man what an awesome skill you have , I can't wait to see how your beautiful cabin takes shape and I wish good building weather , keep up the good work
Well done on your cabin Matthias, well done! You're making good progress on your cabin; it looks like you have thought out every step in the process of building it; I might also add that you appear to have the patience of Job as well. I can't wait to see how far you've gone in your next videos. You are a true, positive role model for all young men (and women), learning how to work with your hands building practical things. May I ask where you are from?
You should try Hybrid Poplar trees, they are easy to grow, and get big quickly. Also good for firewood. Once you have them established, you can easily make cuttings and root them making more trees.
@ 2201 Curiously, the cracks/splits are going diagonally (as opposed to the expected vertical cracks). Wonder what explains this phenomenon. The tree grew up twisted? Interesting.
Hi Matthias…. Are you finding that your are getting more efficient, more skilled, at carving the notches with the axe/large chisel? How much quicker are you completing each log compared to your first full log?
Hello Mike. Yes, now I don't have to think about every little thing I do anymore. I already know how to do it and it has become a routine. But the speed of work has not accelerated much. I would say I am 30% faster than at the beginning.
When you installed your wood stove I did not see you put a damper behind the stove in the flue pipe. That is necessary to control the air for the wood to burn efficiently'

Doors and windows will be cutouts likely
❤🎉
They cut it out with a chain saw
He will cut it with a hand saw. No chainsaw 😂

Maybe you could plant some fruit trees as well? Lemon and olive trees should grow in your climate. Cabin looks great!
I will definitely do that. Thanks!
