I run backhoes and excavators mostly for a living and I was about to comment the same thing lol. That man has some serious skills on the sticks. Much respect.
Hey TDK Logging! Big shout out to you guys from good ole Spotsylvania VA. Enjoy watching all of the videos. Big thumbs up. Some one told me awhile back that they were against logging and I told them to try wiping their butt with plastic. With out logging we wouldn't have no toilet paper! You guys keep on getting it done.
Hey Tim. Awesome awesome video. That is some live action right there. Great footage. Would like to see more of that. Derricks the man on that one. Later
That is something! I remember being a kid and hearing my grandad tell my dad " I drove one of them new Tigercat machines today, Im telling you now those folks will change the way we log" He wasnt wrong either!
Love it, Had sweaty palms watching. Thats total commitment right there. Nice how the operator can swing round and sling those tree's out of the release arms and aim perfectly for the pile below him. Dedicated viewer btw. Sorry I don't comment more often, as have been watching your channel for some time with intrigue. Greetings from Ireland and keep up with these insightful video's - Rowan Lee.
Hey Tim, Awsome video!! That was giving me the 'Heebee Jeebees' just watching it. It takes a top hand to what Derrick was up to - and with the way he never really stopped, and just kept on working steady like, he made it look real easy (it AIN'T). Keep up the great vids.
Tiger cat should pay you to use this video, they could show what their machine is capable of to potential buyers...Derrick does an awesome job...very impressed!!!!
I worked on a few sites south of Natchez about 1/2 mile from the Mississippi. They are some damn steep hills and gullies around that area. We had to plant some of those areas in test plots. Could not get a truck in there to some of the sites. Had to drive a four wheeler about a mile one way hauling in test seedlings took about ten trips to get all the trees back there and we then still had to plant the dang things. How they hauled the logs out of there is still a mystery to me.
Very cool vid man. It looked like one of those trees must have kicked his dog or something. Heh. Anyone who has spent much time running a buncher can relate to this when starting a new landing and you're trying to keep skidders busy on short runs. It's not easy. Everybody's waiting on you until you get ahead a little, so you end up pulling things out of your "bag o" tricks" you didn't know you had sometimes. Didn't mean to ramble, but my machine is collecting dust at the moment due to money/health issues and it sucks to not be able to do what you love- and I loved every minute of it. Even when things went horribly wrong at times. :-)
Cool as hell him on that hill tracks on a serious angle but the cab straight as hell that looked really cool like to see close up of that idk just looked really cool hell of an incline wow does the cab automatically level like that on a hill? Dam that’s crazy all experience right there dam
Derrick is one brave man. Really enjoyed that. Would of been a good clip for tiger cats video you posted. I sure enjoyed this video and that tiger cat video you recommend.
That guy is certainly a top hand . Amazing how he can fling those trees just right to the pile. What engine is in that brute ? I could watch that machine run all day and never be bored.
At 6 min. in the video, I said to myself, It's time for a track to come off....but Derrick's skills kept everything together, he did a fabulous job! The load of timber that tree is hauled on will be "a break even load"...but I'm sure your contract says..."get all of 'em!" ....13
You know the loggers in 1983 had a rough time getting the timber out with the equipment of the time, chainsaws and cable skidders and probably 98 degrees. The modern equipment makes a world of difference but it comes at a very high price tag. I wonder how many loads of logs here in 1983 they were able to send down the road everyday?
The good thing about them bunchers the cab can tilt the excavators we use on pipeline youre against the seatbelt amd feet on the windshield frame the whole time on steep hills
Steep grade sites will hve to hve a planning assessment done where best road or trails or rail where best hills or filled in no hills & placement of pond sites b4 u get to come in steep slob property.
You logging better than the one's in Woodville,Ms.Natchez, Ms have good wood. And Centerville,Ms come get them logs cottontop.Good jod keep doing the video.Come to Woodville,Ms an do some videos.
We cut a lot of steep rocky ground with junk hard wood separates the men from the boys!! You guys do great job I love how everyone works together. Great job on the videos!
Phenomenal scale of work! How long did it take yall to thin 300 acres on that rugged terrain?? How many guys and how many of those tigercats make a crew for that kind of work?? I'm looking to take my landscaping work forces in a new direction: starting with basic, handcutting of dead, beetle killed fire hazard forests. I've been saying that I want areas that are otherwise "inaccessible for timber harvest and only require dropping the dead trees to compost future forest floor...." but now I'm seeing that "inaccessible" is probably a common joke amongst you timber loggers!
That is a really nice tract of land. I guess you cannot be too selective in the tracts you get to cut. Most of the other loggers don't have the equipment to cut that, and for you it involves more risk and harder on the equipment. Less dollars per acre vs flat land business wise. I guess if you turn difficult tracts down you get blacklisted?
For a minute I thought you were having to do some cable or chain assisted logging there. He's a good operator. When you guys got started how did you pick what machines you were going to operate. I'm assuming you guys don't swap off unless you need to operate a different machine. Cool video as always, I would have to keep a clean pair of draws in that cutter for days like that.🤣
I know that tract personally. I've been up and down those hills a many times dragging deer. Just wait till y'all get closer to the bluff, it gets worse. Lol.
15-20ft in ground & what ever u need top grade to be is most soil ideal. piled around wet land area or ponds rapped 10-20ft w/piles will/should do job & suffice heavy equipment hold up machinry if right soil & earth & rock on top of piles occasional post slabs of 4ft wide concrete sitting on piles.
dam that's alsome them machines must have some serious bottom end weight in those track frames not to be pulled over by trees climbim those kind of slopes
+VideosByAl the pair I'm wearing now are the same ones I got in that video a year and 9 months ago. They are still in good shape but I am nearing getting a new pair just because of my neck and back troubles. I don't like to wear a pair but about a year and half. Good idea for a video and I may do that when I get a new pair.
I've log my share of ground like that down Holmes and Yazoo and Warren county with a 445 Timbco I'll tell ya right now that Tigerkitty looks way more stable than that Timbco ever did
Give that man a bonus for todays work. What a good job.
You boys put these other logger channels to shame. The most efficient professional crew I have ever seen
Man them TV shows got nothing on what loggers actually do everyone I know who logs in the rocky mountains just shakes their head in embarrassment
incredible watching him go! Love the way he just throws the trees out to the pile
I’m used to running dozers and excavators, watching Derrick makes me pucker up! Lots of skill and confidence!!
I run backhoes and excavators mostly for a living and I was about to comment the same thing lol. That man has some serious skills on the sticks. Much respect.

I've never seen one climbing a hill that steep unassisted. That is incredible! Derrick is a helluvan operator. Just walking up like it's nothing 😎
Derek is the man when it comes to that machine no doubt whatsoever
It awesome to watch someone that knows what they are doing. That's some awesome skill running the cutter Derrick. Thanks for the video Tim.
Tim, that "25" Tigercat video is awesome. All it does is not want to look at another machine other than Tigercat.
What a colossal demonstrative of operator skill and cool nerves with absolute confidence in his machine. Outstanding videography as well.
Cotontop3, Derek is bad ass at that machine👊👊👊 hands down to that man.
#RUNTHATDUDE🤙🤙🤙🤙
He throws and stacks those trees. That is one heck of an operator to be turning and burning on that steep mess. Very impressed!
I enjoy the daily dose of cotontop3 kinda new so im watching all the vids i miss but i wint miss any!
Hey Tim. Awesome awesome video. That is some live action right there. Great footage. Would like to see more of that. Derricks the man on that one. Later
That is something!
I remember being a kid and hearing my grandad tell my dad " I drove one of them new Tigercat machines today, Im telling you now those folks will change the way we log"
He wasnt wrong either!
that was awsome watching derrick throw them trees with the 830
Tim, new subscriber. Great videos. Have been binge watching for a week. Can't get enough. Keep em coming.
+Curt Richards thank you Curt!
What an awesome video I could watch that all day.
Wicked steep slopes. Great video Tim

Tiger cat should pay you to use this video, they could show what their machine is capable of to potential buyers...Derrick does an awesome job...very impressed!!!!
They made a vid I think its called "25" they are logging in new Zealand on slopes twice this bad!
Alex Matthews yah but most of those are tied off
The tigercat skidders can do some wild stuff I've had my 620 climbing 50% and I've dropped off 60% in the 630 (running tire chains all year round)
some serious skills ,wicked kick ass operator !!
Excellent operator skills.
I've cut that steep in BC , with no tilter!
That's some steep ground thear those buncher so are nice machines good video
Awesome video, keep you the good work, TIm.
I had to subscribe cause I love equiptment and this type of content ..godbless and be safe

probably with a yarder
Man, he can really run that Tigercat !

Great video Tim, Derrick is one brave dude and very skilled on the Tigercat, its a great machine :)
Awesome video you guys cut some nasty ground Derrick is one he'll of a cutterman and your alright with the camera🤣
Derrick man you nerves of steel
It is simply amazing what that machine can do.
That looks like our neck of the woods here in WV great video
That guy is certainly a top hand . Amazing how he can fling those trees just right to the pile. What engine is in that brute ? I could watch that machine run all day and never be bored.
A true professional
That is a stud horse of a machine right there.
After watching that extreme logging I need a new pair of underwear. Awesome job Derrick! Thanks for sharing Tim.
Thank you for the cool video tim
At 6 min. in the video, I said to myself, It's time for a track to come off....but Derrick's skills kept everything together, he did a fabulous job!
The load of timber that tree is hauled on will be "a break even load"...but I'm sure your contract says..."get all of 'em!"
....13
Where are you logging , I used to truck logs in Mississippi for my uncle Harvey Beach and cousin Buck Beach out of Natchez in the 80"s
that looks like the spilly piles we cut on the ol srip mines here in penn.!
Pretty steep there.. especially holding on to that log..
Derek has more guts than me to run up that slope with the track cutter
You know the loggers in 1983 had a rough time getting the timber out with the equipment of the time, chainsaws and cable skidders and probably 98 degrees. The modern equipment makes a world of difference but it comes at a very high price tag. I wonder how many loads of logs here in 1983 they were able to send down the road everyday?
That guy very good on that machine u could say he pushes it to the limit TIGERCAT all the way😉
The good thing about them bunchers the cab can tilt the excavators we use on pipeline youre against the seatbelt amd feet on the windshield frame the whole time on steep hills
Not to mention sitting on your ballsack for hours on end if your facing downhill. F'me that sucks. Do it all the time.
great vid get a vid of the 635 coming up the skid road love the sound
Tim went an watched tigercat 25 left comment in the oak tree cutting. Vedio. Never knew that about Eddie or Johnny hodge thanks for sharing that.
+Ken Daniel glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video!
nice machine, wouldn't be possible without it, yeah that rocking is alittle freaky, would additional weight on the under-carriage help some?
Dose the cutter automatically level itself
That is truly incredible
If the cab isn't level enough for the incline, is there a warning to check your angle?
+InjectorRick just how ur butt feels
Ah, yes. Very true
Never knew the cab is capable for leveling on a hill, how many degrees can the cab move?
WOW! That is cool!
Does the cab on feller buncher automatically keep level?
Operator does it
What type of planning goes into cutting on these types of tracts sorry just curious never worked in the woods
I can see the benefits of your Tigercat equipment in this video
It looks like small twigs he's cutting at this distance!! What's the maximum angle that machine can work in.
60% is legal limit without assistance I've seen the 830 at 85-90% with cable assistance
Does the machine auto level the cab? Or does he do that manually?
Operator does it.
Great video. Are Feller and Skidder in communication with each other? Once trees are cleared, will this area be replanted?
+MrSea2river yes they have radios and can talk to each other. Yes, everything we cut is replanted.
Do you got more hard wood out of this steep ground that hasn't been thinned
+RLT Aaron Nickolson yes we get more hardwood. This block has got a lot of hwd.
We cut a lot of steep rocky ground with junk hard wood separates the men from the boys!! You guys do great job I love how everyone works together. Great job on the videos!
My uncle used to own a logging company outside of Wiggins MS in the 70's and 80's. Moran Logging.
That's an amazing machine right there boys! #BeastModeEngaged

Please. refresh my memory, who ran the cutter when Derrek was out sick last year?
+Nancy Glover I did.
Man the pucker factor on that hill cutting has got to be high.
That is a really nice tract of land. I guess you cannot be too selective in the tracts you get to cut. Does the machine level itself Tim?
+David E no
I know that tract personally. I've been up and down those hills a many times dragging deer. Just wait till y'all get closer to the bluff, it gets worse. Lol.
Tim could he anchor himself at that angle on something ? That's scary right there..
I'm keeping my finger's crossed for him..Great Vid. Tim
Don't need a teather at 60% if your over 60% legally you need cable assistance in a track machine
I believe I'd need a diaper to do that job. Possibly two! Great videos!!!
Good operators.
Better than going to a concert.
I didn't know the Tigercat was a multi purpose machine, it cuts and throws trees.
I want to come do this for a day! Yall come cut beans, I'll run that!
They run those 830 and 870 here in VA in swamps
that cutting rig is one bad to the bone mamma jamma
dam that's alsome them machines must have some serious bottom end weight in those track frames not to be pulled over by trees climbim those kind of slopes
Video does the steepness no justice. Growing up in WV. Hills are steeper than they look. Be safe.v
How about a year review on your Justin work boot. Redwing has let me down for the last time.
That machine is awesome but a little crazy
Have yall ever turned a machine over?
+Zach Grubb yes lots. I've been upside down 26 times since I've been logging
Does Derrick just love cutting on those slopes or is he just crazy?
I've log my share of ground like that down Holmes and Yazoo and Warren county with a 445 Timbco I'll tell ya right now that Tigerkitty looks way more stable than that Timbco ever did
+Chris Farmer you're right, the 445 timbco is not even close to the 830.
Is KEVIN able to WALK STRAIT after swinging in that MACHINE???????????????
Brutal operator
I am amazed he can hold traction.
+bluemtnsman when it does break loose, there's no stopping it no matter how hard u push the head into the ground.
Steep steep sweet machine napa mike
Apparently he doesn't like stumps when he's gonna be on that steep grade. It would probably make it that much scarier.
+Abner Schmucker u gotta stay off the stumps when it's that bad. U will get in big trouble if u let the machine get on one.
cotontop3 pucker power man. Nice video!
No that was a interesting video!!!!
