Hi I'm a Black British man. Racism, if you ever encounter it in the UK it is usually subtle, but on the whole the British are welcoming and accepting of others. Racism tends to manifest itself more in our institutions, e.g. legal profession, and a very small number of individuals. Having said that the British use their intellect and learn from the past. I am extremely proud to be a Black British man and I love my country.

I’m a white British man who grew up in South London (Streatham) and I’ve lived in the US for 12 years. One of the things I miss most about home is it’s way more racially mixed. Growing up, I had lots of black friends as my school was very mixed, but in the US it feels so much more segregated.

That's not racism as such though. At the last census only 5% of the UK is black, 7% Asian, there will be more now, but even so, over 80% of the UK population will be white, it's just a numbers thing that more people applying for a job will be white and the probability that the most qualified will also be white.

@@isla1687 All political parties are the same. Their job is to confuse you and dived you from fellow man. Saying you can eliminate racism is like saying you can stop crime. In all cultures you have evil people who do disgusting things but it's a very small population %... Minorities in Western countries are controlled by this narrative. This farse that everyone is a racist sexist is absurd, it like calling an entire country criminals or rapists. If you walk around and think people in general are racist or people who support certain political groups are racist I feel sorry for your mind as you have been mentally enslaved. The British stopped the slave trade which every country was doing but the British went around and free'd the slaves which was also a class problem. Slavery exists in Africa and Asia today but the media will never profile this because they want people of different skin colours to fight. Minorities who are mentally enslaved care more about injustice from 100's of years ago then what is happening in the here and now. It has always been We the people against our ruling overlords. As mentioned above, classism is the real issue. I don't think people in general in the west are racist at all. The East is far more racist in my opinion due to dictator rule. Try and take your own culture and religion to somewhere like China or the U A E and demands they cater to you and see how far you get. Most people don't travel the world and have no idea how free the west is. Yes I know things in the west are very far from perfect but there are many places on earth that make places like the UK and USA seem like heaven.

I grew up in rural Scotland and there was one black kid in my school. People would call him the n word and make monkey noises at him to bully him. The teachers did what they could to stop it, but kids being kids; it wasn’t that effective. In high school I was bullied for being gay. I think a big part of it was just because we didn’t fit the idealised norm.
One of my buddies took on an apprentice last year and I met him a few times. I asked him if he had ever seen homophobia or racism in school and much to my surprise, he hadn’t. That’s not to say that it doesn’t exist anymore, but it’s undoubtedly less common. For reference, my buddy’s apprentice went to the same schools as me and is 18. I’m 25.
It’s such a strange thought knowing that what I grew up and others too had to deal with is dying off. It’s good to know, but such an alien thought none the less.
Anyway, the black kid from my school now has his own accountancy business and is now doing great for himself from the last I’ve heard. Glad the bullying never got in his way!

@@danny1ft1 I know this might sound weird, but I've been thinking about this a lot, and I honestly think it's because we took God out of the center of it all. God is Love. In Christianity God is the source of all love, and he is unconditionally all-loving. When we try and build a secular world we're basically saying "we want to make a better world but we want to take the thing out of it that actually makes things better", it's doomed to failure. You can't make a better world without Love. Not to say we couldn't also ruin the world with religiousness, sure we've had lots of history of seeing that happen. But loveless institutions are chronically broken from the get-go; there's only one way for them to go and that's downhill. Noble intentions are useless without Love at the center.

I have served in the military of the uk with many people from many ethnic backgrounds and I’ve never met a racist, not a proper racist, I’ve met the big moths that poke fun but they do it to try and be funny which they aren’t. You’ll find the only true racism in this country comes from the government and the opposition. They are racist towards white British people, they try to be seen as so fair they have actually started to persecute British white people. Nope can’t have a house because you’re not a minority and we’ll be seen as racist if we give you one. Can’t have that job because four other white British people are doing it already. They shop around for token minorities and push white brits aside. British white peoples have enough, have no recourse to the government so they shout racist shit they don’t mean because they are frustrated. But here’s a plan…. Give things to those who deserve them regardless of where they are from. I am white and British and have no doubt the police will knock my door for this ultra racist post

The battle of Bamber bridge. The time when American troops were stationed here during WW2 and the US military tried to make the British enforce segregation and Jim Crow laws. The British people took African American GI’s to their hearts and didn’t take kindly to being told that they couldn’t welcome them into their homes or pubs. At Bamber Bridge, the local base commanders tried to make the local pub landlords introduce segregation. So they did. They put up signs saying “black troops only”. It’s worth reading about it and the ensuing riot when USMP’s tried to arrest some African American soldiers who were drinking with some British soldiers who were in leave. The Americans were “improperly dressed”. But that was an excuse. The British soldiers intervened in the side of the African American GI’s then it all went pair shaped.

First time seeing your wife! Love her natural hair and she has got a gorgeous colour to her! One thing that always amazes me is how gleaming, plump and healthy black people's skin is. It's like it's been buffed to perfection. You're both so cute, such decent people. That leaps from the screen, your inner decency shines out. Your accents are very subtle to be fair and you're both well spoken. I can understand you clearly whereas I can struggle with some American accents because they really chew around the words and drag them out, or sound gravelly. Plus you're not loud and cocky. Sorry but a lot of Americans are LOUD and arrogant. If you experience any "racism" here guaranteed it would be because you're American, not because you're black! 😂 We do like to wind up Americans...but they make it so easy! 🤣 They don't get our sarcasm. In fact, are you sure you're American? You're both so chilled your voices are like ASMR! A lovely couple! Very wholesome. I'm glad you're here, we're lucky to have you! 😘😘😘

I’m very happy that you have enjoyed your time in the country.
*I didn’t know that about the parking in the US, we have a very cavalier attitude to parking in this country which I strangely admire
    * I hate that the racism question is even a question in 2021 but I’m very glad that you haven’t experienced any silly hatred at all.
    * You are very lucky to have good neighbours, if there’s one thing we do well in this country is have a good moan about the neighbours. (Next doors always your mate but two doors down…)
*very happy that you’ll be here for the foreseeable future, your children will have a midlands accent by then lol “ey up mum”

My wife is Canadian and finds your observations most enjoyable and on my part, I think your positive experience is very much down to your attitude and the vibe you project. Too many American tourists visit other countries without an open mind, thinking they are better than the rest of the world because they're American and I think the reason you are accepted so readily is that you do not project that false nature. Well done and keep up the great dialogue

When I lived in the U.K. I enjoyed the wide open roads. The M6 was fun to drive on, especially during the vacation, no traffic, just open road to drive on, I recommend anyone to try it. I also used their modern high speed railways, I think the trains were traveling at over 300 kmph. Local roads were well maintained and clean. Crime was unheard of. I hear the health service is the envy of the world but I didn't use it. Commute times were short due to the fact that there was very little traffic on the roads. The weather was fantastic too. I'm glad you've had the chance to have more family-time together living in the UK than many others in the US who need to work longer hours and have fewer public holidays and less time off work. I was gritting my teeth when the question of experiencing racism in the UK came up. I was relieved to here good vibes. Thinking about it afterwards, I realised your pleasant experience was not too much of a surprise. I was in fear as I'd just watched a documentary about George Floyd before watching this. I was dreading you might have suffered racism over here too. I hope social equality changes very fast in the US. Hi guys, thank you for 1 year of great vlogs....you are such a lovely genuine family and its a pleasure to see how much you love the UK . I live in Liverpool and I think you are correct, we don't get a huge amount of Americans visiting ( unless they are all on the Beatles tour ! 😉)

You will absolutely love the city of Bath. The architecture is stunning and the Roman baths are a must see.
I'm so sad that Mac didn't mention the plugs as one of his favourite things!😄

I saw a stat that almost 1/3 of countries use our BS1363 plugs. Not necessarily exclusively, but I found it really odd to travel NE Africa and the Middle/Far East and not need an adapter.

I’m so pleased you like living in England, it really is a lovely place to live. If you want to explore some more, I can recommend Hertfordshire, my home county. It’s just north of London, and has some lovely places with a ton of history - namely St Albans, lots of Roman history and a lovely abbey to look around.
On another note, I recently visited Leicester. It’s where the skeleton of King Richard lll was discovered, I’m a history nut so found it really interesting.
Happy Christmas to you and your family!

Haha the parking comment had me in stitches, I'm born and bred British and I can't believe how some people park, you are not alone! Welcome to the UK by the way and merry Christmas
