  • Here are the soundclips and videos of two great old Violins that I'm selling.
    The first one is Maggini102 the Second one is Maggini101.
    Both are great violins ready for the stage. These are proffessional grade instruments.

    I've heard that the real deal Maggini violins that he made in the early 1600's never had a 2 turn scroll. It was something the French and German work shops did 200 years later to show off their workmanship.

      These are Maggini models both considered trade violins from Germany. Really have nothing to do with the original Italian maker. They were modeled somewhat after the old Brescian maker's instruments though. You are correct that some of the original Brescian instruments had a regular scroll without the extra turn.

      I always liked the tone of most Maggini fiddles. The larger body seemed to give them a little darker tone.
