  • Shucks - this test was frustrating to try do...I love #DIY - until these kinds of frustrations come up...but I guess it's very normal and it was a learning experience nonetheless.
Test Three is a Fuel Pressure Test - essential to run, especially if you're having a less than excellent driving experience.
This is a continuation of my exploration and learning while also enjoying my #DailyDriver - I hope you enjoy the video and enjoy learning more about your #Porsche944.

There is one more test to perform but I've been ignoring some issues that have come up as I've been using her as my #dailydriver. So, the next few videos aren't going to be about testing anything but rather fixing some problems I'm experiencing - here is the first: ua-cam.com/video/Zu_BJ6nLXDw/v-deo.html

Totally understand the comments from your mechanic friends. One word of advice: I had my fuel pressure regulator fail giving too high pressure in the fuel rail. When this happens the injectors can take too much current and the DME computor shuts them down. I disconnected (electrically) one of the injectors and the car started (1988 2.5 n/a) although obviously it was only running on 3. Clarkes Garage has a much better description and words than i have written. Maybe worth a read if you get a minute.

This is a top comment, Dave - thank you! Yes, I'm definitely going to run the test again as soon as I find a reliable tester brand 😅 ...which is easier said than done here in SA, it seems.

Fuel pressure testing is something that I dread doing, especially if the engine needs to be running. Huge risk of fire. I would not recommend unless you really have no other option. Why are you doing this? What are you trying to accomplish?

Hi Rob, Thank you for your comment! Yes - that was the general sentiment of my mechanic friends too. The tests have been run to establish a baseline for this particular car - I want it for comparative purposes for the future. (I'm not numbers crazy but prefer data to opinions, however experienced those opinions might be.)

There is or are proper tools for every job. 1) Proper wire terminal crimpers are $6-$25. 2) teflon tape to seal screw-on fittings is about $2.75 per roll. 3) if you don't know exactly why you are doing a particular test on a car, especially a sophisticated and potentially very valuable car like a Porsche 944, why make a video?

Hi David - For the learning; for the enjoyment of it; because I’m not scared to fail; because life is too short to worry about ego; because if all we worry about is the value of our things, then when do we get to actually enjoy them!?
      1) Wire terminal crimpers - pliers work just as well for this particular case. Thank you, though.
      2) Teflon tape - I used a ton of it - the fitting was bad…the store I bought it from was very apologetic.
If you want everything to be done perfectly, this is not the channel for you. Thanks for your message.
