Hey there! Thanks for the great reaction and review of our rendition of "We've Only Just Begun"! In answer to some of your questions, there are more layers of vocals than I could fit on the screen of videos! The Carpenters' sound was achieved by TRIPLING each of the 4 part harmonies to get that lush sound, so there are actually 14 backing vocal parts at any given time, but space only allowed for 8 videos... Tori's lead part also has some DOUBLED parts, shown by the added inset video. Our trumpeter (Gary) played 4 separate parts with 4 separate videos, and our violinist (Ynping) played 3 different parts, DOUBLED, with 6 separate videos. The Pianos, clarinet, tambourine, male vocals (all me), drums (Yoann) and bass (Clayton) appear when they are playing. I did the audio mixing and created the video montage. So glad you enjoyed our efforts!
This was a fun watch, The harmonies and layers of instruments I heard just piqued the analytical part of my brain to try and guess how many layers you used. How long did it take you to mix all this together?
@@MugnifyRTS The mix took a bunch of hours, but the VIDEO is what took most of the time... that's a lot of editing! I'd guess about 8 hours! So worth it to feature Tori - she's an absolute gem!

Karen Carpenter was and will always be my favorite female singer. This young lady has done a great job covering this song.

This was a beautiful cover of the song with the lights off. The fact that they produced it with the mosaic embed was a nice touch.
Some guy did a virtual choir with singing heads (not instruments) the earlier ones were better I thought.

My reaction to my first listen of this song was EXACTLY like yours! I love how they show the layers in the video. Listening to this is like a warm bath for the ears. Good call on the Young and the Restless vibe! I agree- DOPE!

Hi Mugnify! So glad you enjoyed this. Isn’t it impressive, I’ve seen multi-boxed music videos of this type but never so alive and descriptive of what’s happening. That’s Jim’s magic and I asked him to check in for your questions. I know he’s very busy, more is coming so hopefully soon.
This guy Eduard has mashed together this version and the original Carpenters version. I’m going to link it and it will blow your mind. I didn’t mention it as it’s a spoiler. Also if you’re familiar with the analysis channel Wings Of Pegasus, Fil analyzed this video a few days ago. It’s a pure as you think it is. That’s easy to find. Stay tuned I can’t wait for more and I see you’re enjoying these as much as I am. The first time I saw it I got chills.

You can lay this version by Tori over top of one of Karan's takes and they sync together perfectly, and watching Karen supposedly singing Tori's version, you can certainly imagine that it is Karen's words you are listening to. Tori had to be syncing to Karen when she made the recording as it would be impossible to get them so perfectly aligned.
I can't enjoy your hype about this cover bro bcoz Tori doesn't pour in the soul of her singing the way Karen does. The background vocals neither. Nice try for them though as they are very good.

I think people need to get past the idea that Tori is trying to be Karen Carpenter. She has stated on numerous occasions that Karen is irreplaceable. This is a tribute to Karen. Tori's normal voice has A strong similarity to Karen's tone and inflections. She is not trying to imitate her. Of course there are differences but I will say that Tori and her rendition are the best cover or tribute to Karen Carpenter I've ever heard.
@@MugnifyRTSif I hadn’t wanted you to hear Tori’s new song, I’d have asked for a side by side reaction. It’s a very worthy listen as it’s a gem. The mashup shows it a lot. But does switch back and forth. When Jim and Tori drop the new one, I’d ask for the double of the Carpenters version and Jim & Tori’s homage version. I’m assuming it’s another Carpenters tune. Not sure and can’t wait. I’m confident that what ever it is it will soar.
