It was originally designed as a rescue vehicle for civilian use in the Everglades. If I remember correctly the designer had a friend who got lost in the Everglades but that could be BS. Anyway the army saw how useful an amphibious vehicle is and contracted a ton. They put flamethrowers, cannons, and machine guns on them, but a lot were the standard open toped variant.
I've always had a soft spot for this vehicle as it saw extensive use here in the Pacific and helped liberate my country from the Japanese. I was really happy when Gaijin randomly gave me a talisman for it even though I don't play reserve tier anymore.
@@leroykelly9283 The Philippines. If I'm not mistaken, the initial landing of US forces at Leyte island was actually the largest use of LVTs in the war.
There’s different types of LVTs, LVT stands for landing vehicle, tracked so anything amphibious with tracks is an LVT including the Shermans used in d day
This LVT is more of a support vehicle and wasn't really meant to fight other tanks. It was supposed to drop troops off after landing on the beach and support the troops when pushing enemy defences.
Yes, that's why this lvt has the A designation, which stands for armored, which means it's a fire support version it wasn't until the A4 that they opted to a 75 mm howitzer
Since its really huge, its also super tanky with the amount of crews it have. Well, definitely dont play it suicidal, but this is low tier anyway, they'll keep shooting you at the same spot anywhere other than the small turret. Its an advantage.
Honestly it doesn't seem like there's any advantage to being amphibious on any of the maps in the game. They're designed for nonamphibious vehicles. Additionally you're essentially out in the middle of a low flat field in any body of water, making you an easy target.
That's true but most peole do it for the shits and giggles. Especially on Poland I think. it is small town large lake off to the side. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The first time I played war thunder I used this and got 16 kills in my first round! Insane when in lower tiers, anything with a bigger caliber will kill it

I'm glad to know that thank you pretty interesting

Just wondering which country you would be refrencing? Ive never heard that the ltv was deployed in the pacific theatre
@@leroykelly9283it was used very much in the pacific, especially during landings and island hopping campaigns

As a boat tank, thr Gun stabilizer on it is a blessing.
LVT usually has only machine guns and no 37mm. This is the more tank-like variant, is all.

There's also a variant (not in war thunder) that had the 75mm howitzer
Also a version similar to the Higgins boats of d day but amphibious, some can be seen in cod WAW

The LVT was used in many amphibious operations in World War 2, some include Iwo Jima , Peleilu, and even Okinawa.
LVT stands for landing vehicle tracked, in case anyone didnt already know.
The reason it’s so big is because water vehicles need lots of empty space which will fill with air, the air needed to float the vehicles
Wait a minute what ???? I played this thing so much and i never knew that

love your videos
Thanks
On the three years I have been playing war thunder I never guessed that thing had a stabilizer
I love playing the LVT(A)1 in the past but I am still annoyed it doesn't have a bigger cannon compared to its similar variant but in another country.
So useful
Can't wait for it to fly
Nice for the people that are on 1.0
I was wondering why it had machine guns on the back when i first played war thunder. Now im starting to grind the german tech tree
Wouldn’t this(the LVT -4 model with a 75mm cannon) have been easier for forces to use on D-Day than the Sherman’s?
its a damn shame this tank doesn't have rear gunners in enlisted, would make this tank more fun to use
I play China and I was so confused as to why it doesn't have a stabiliser.
I guess that Chinese gunners are just built different?
That's how i got killed once, from the sea with a god damn lvt1
I think the stabilizer is just home boys shoulder cause it’s a light 37 could be wrong tho
The first time I played war thunder I used this and got 16 kills in my first round! Insane when in lower tiers, anything with a bigger caliber will kill it
It was also used on D-day
Man i really wish that you could still somehow get ka-chi
So thats why the russian badger picked it as his custom premium tank. Its because a seal can swim so therefore the tank must swim too.
It kinda hard to kill because if you shot it can over pin
I remember when I started playing, looked at the lvt, put it to test drive, and it just.... Sunk, i was so disappointed, but now it floats so yay
When Galjin add LVT Aligator
Started grinding the us tier rn i got 1,7 br and the 2 tank destroyers at rank 1 are op imo
sadly I am at top tiers now :(
How long have you been playing wt?
@@bollocks-33 2-3 years
@@warmaster-warthunder what nation

@@warmaster-warthunder nice, sweden got a lot of weird tanks
I found about it in ab at the first days kf my playing the game when my teammate pushed me out kf the bridge
Vietnam ah WWII tank
To bad it the only amphibious tank in the US tech tree and no tanks that could float don’t count. It has to be made as amphibious
I always showew my sides using that tank, I mean what he hitting if he shot the middle of the tank? only the transition
I had an LVT (A) (1) VS Ka-Mi battle and I (Ka-Mi) won cause it missed its shot
i get god mod on this tank
B O A T
How do u even use the rear mg?
Either turn turret to look behind you and fire mgs or switch to mgs
What other aquatic tanks are there?
Who cares? The empty space saved me lots of times 😂
**brain damage**
I have the Russian badger version
It has a stabilizer!?
XM800T for higher tiers and rattier
Frorg
Latvian?
That’s also what I think when I hear it’s name
Bro said swim instead of float 🤦 boats aren’t known to swim, they’re known to FKIN FLOAT A BOAT FLOATS!
