I’m so grateful I found your channel. I’m a close up performer myself. I think there is a problem in magic, where we just buy magic “tricks” and perform them as instructed. I get that this is part of growth, but at a certain point we all have a responsibility to be unique. I love that a lot of your material is centred around a “utility device” that allows for creativity for performers to make their own routines.

I'm a beginner but this didn't impress me much (sorry!) and I sort of half guessed this as soon as Lloyd said it's not a one word name like Madonna (I immediately assumed there are either no one word names in there (most likely), or he was looking for confirmation, which he could later correct if wrong). Apologies if I am wrong and there's more to it but I feel like I saw the method being carried out, even if I'm wrong on what it is. Would love to see the other possible tricks though!
If there were no one word names in there, how would confirming the name isn't one word help him?
@@Bringadingus It would just be part of misdirection at the very start, an extra (minor) impressive feat to start with (she didn't have time to see that there are none there, and wouldn't be looking for that anyway). Helps sell it from the beginning.
Also noticed that Madonna, George Clooney and Johnny Depp are three syllables (whether or not Madonna is in there). Brad Pitt isn't of course, so I would guess that he isn't in there either and more (believable) misdirection. 3 syllables could be an obvious basis for another trick.
@@kimchi_b hate to tell you but you're wrong on all counts. This trick is multi faceted, not just what you saw here.
I also recommend that if you're new to magic, don't 'think' you've worked it out, because just like specs you'll be wrong a lot more than you're correct.
I can say right now that this deck will be trick of 2024. Waiting for mine to arrive, and I only buy one trick a year.
@@heisthee Completely agree! I just received mine and the principle of it is just perfect. There is no way to work this out and it still remains fairly easy to perform. And there is so much more to it than that effect, which could be sold on its own I think.
