Yeah it's a shame we never got to see growth in Michaela but it made sense, Michaela's always been obsessed with that perfect 'black' life. Successful black arm candy husband kind of thing, which Asher doesn't meet, she's always struggled with not meeting her own expectations so it makes sense that she caved here.
People are wondering why Michaela went after Marcus; it's because she always wanted a "Obama" and Asher was nowhere near a "Obama" I feel like she settled for Asher and only ruined her old wedding dress because she didn't want to end up alone.. & she knew Asher would end up leaving her if she didn't prove her love to him. Her love for Asher was never genuine. She might have loved him as a person but not as a partner

This was addressed in earlier seasons as to why her relationship with asher scared her. The relationship took so many seasons which is why people are angry that a guest character who plays no role in the story was used to jeapodize their relationship. It was definately lazy writting.
Tbh the whole scene just seemed forced and uncharecteristic for both of them. She didn't need to know why he's single so why did she even ask? He's been on Scandal since like season 4 and hasn't had a single one night stand and right after this episode he was back to pining after Mellie so why would he destroy Michaelas relationship for something that didn't mean anything? Why would she cheat on Asher after ruining her wedding dress for him (which I get is shallow and superficial but then again so is she)? Not much that made sense in this story line, just saying.
Hamdi Ali hassan Marcus had a one nightstand with his girl in Vermont. The one who was talking about how she couldn’t be seen because they associated black women as prosecutes.
I wouldn't say Marcus ruined Michaela's relationship. Michaela bless her ruined her own relationship. It's what she does because she doesn't know how to love because of her upbringing. Michaela was chasing Marcus not the other way around. And he was single at the time. He had no responsibility to Asher but Michaela did. And Marcus didn't make it a secret there was someone he loved. That only seemed to turn Michaela in more. These scenes felt like Michaela was intentionally destroying her own relationship because she doesn't feel worthy of love and that sad for her. I hope she.learns to love herself.
I realize a lot of people are pissed about the two of them hooking up (on the htgawm fanbase at least), but I think they would make a cute couple. They should bring Marcus over to htgawm.
This was a great setup between the two and I hated in the end the writers squashed this. Michaela was the second best to Annalise in this show. The actress can lead an entire show alone. I wonder if spin off is being thought about.

Michaela's cheating was such a cheap shot by the writers, it honestly didn't make sense. Asher and Michaela literally been thru the trenchs together.
